1DNA cytosine methylation in plant development显示文摘Cytosine bases of the nuclear genome in higher plants are often extensively methylated.Cytosine methylation has been implicated in the silencing of both transposable elements (TEs) and endogenous genes,and loss of methylation may have severe functional consequences.The recent methylation profiling of the entire Arabidopsis genome has provided novel insights into the extent and pattern of cytosine methylation and its relationships with gene activity.In addition,the fresh studies also revealed the more dynamic nature of this epigenetic modification across plant development than previously believed.Cytosine methylation of gene promoter regions usually inhibits transcription,but methylation in coding regions (gene-body methylation) does not generally affect gene expression.Active demethylation (though probably act synergistically with passive loss of methylation) of promoters by the 5-methyl cytosine DNA glycosylase or DEMETER (DME) is required for the uni-parental expression of imprinting genes in endosperm,which is essential for seed viability.The opinion that cytosine methylation is indispensible for normal plant development has been reinforced by using single or combinations of diverse loss-of-function mutants for DNA methyltransferases,DNA glycosylases,components involved in siRNA biogenesis and chromatin remodeling factors.Patterns of cytosine methylation in plants are usually faithfully maintained across organismal generations by the concerted action of epigenetic inheritance and progressive correction of strayed patterns.However,some variant methylation patterns may escape from being corrected and hence produce novel epialleles in the affected somatic cells.This,coupled with the unique property of plants to produce germline cells late during development,may enable the newly acquired epialleles to be inherited to future generations,which if visible to selection may contribute to adaptation and evolution.Meishan Zhang Josphert N.Kimatu Kezhang Xu Bao Liu 2010Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,1:26
2Effects of anisotropy on time-depth relation in transversely isotropic medium with a vertical axis of symmetry显示文摘It is known that rock anisotropy can significantly influence the phase and energy velocities of an elastic wave,as well as its reflection/transmission(R/T)coefficients.As a result,it can distort the velocity analysis of seismic-reflection data.In this work we present a velocity analysis for seismic-reflection data based on the available anisotropic rock parameters.We analyzed the created errors on time-depth relation of the seismic-reflection data in neglecting rock anisotropy and/or neglecting the difference between energy velocity and phase velocity,including the case of wide-angle reflection.The calculated results show that the effect of rock anisotropy on time-depth relation of seismic-reflection data is dependent not only on the values of anisotropic parameters,but also on the space arrangement of both source and receiver-array.For all studied cases(weak,moderate or strong anisotropy),we found that the effect of rock anisotropy on time-depth relation could not be neglected.Nevertheless,for the case of weak anisotropy,the energy velocity may be replaceable by the phase velocity to obtain a very good approximation on time-depth relation.Consequently,the seismic-reflection data processing algorithm for numerical computations can be simplified.FA Lin CASTAGNA John P ZENG ZhengWen BROWN Ray L ZHAO MeiShan 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,21:9
3The influence of rock anisotropy on elliptical-polarization state of inhomogenously refracted P-wave显示文摘This paper discusses the influence of the anisotropy parameters on elliptical-polarization of the inhomogenously refracted P-wave induced at VTI-media interface.For this refracted P-wave,we have derived,the equations of the elliptical-polarization trajectory.Following the elliptical-polarization trajectory,we calculated the effects of the rock anisotropic-parameters on the polarization state,with a Poincare-sphere-like representation,for several varying media parameters.It is noted that the size,shape and initial phase angle of the elliptical-polarization trajectory are all depending the anisotropy media,as well as on the incident-angle.We expect that the findings from this paper would be applied to practical applications of seismic exploration.Lin Fa Jie Zhao YongLan Han GuoHui Li PengFei Ding MeiShan Zhao 2016Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2016,59,4:4
4Musk secretion in muskrats(Ondatra zibethicus L.):association with lipid and cholesterol metabolism-related pathways显示文摘Male muskrats(Ondatra zibethicus L.)secrete musk from their scent glands during musk secretion season.Musk plays an important role as a communication pheromone during the breeding season.In this study,gas chromatography–mass spectrometry(GC–MS)was used to analyze the main components of musk.The GC–MS results after methyl esterification showed that 71.55%of the musk is composed of fatty acids.The other components of muskrat musk include cholesterol(9.31%)and other organics.Transcriptome comparison between musk secretion and non-secretion seasons showed significant changes in the scent glands for 53 genes involved in fatty acid and cholesterol synthesis and metabolism regulatory pathways,which include fatty acid biosynthesis,elongation,and metabolism;steroid biosynthesis;steroid hormone biosynthesis pathways.A reverse transcription–polymerase chain reaction analysis confirmed these detected changes.Overall,our results indicated that lipid synthesis and metabolism play important roles in musk compound synthesis by providing energy for musk production,and the produced musk provides a mechanism for male muskrats to communicate with females during the breeding season.TIANXIANG ZHANG MEISHAN ZHANG MINGHUI SHI WEIJIANG JIN SHUMIAO ZHANG MENGYUAN FAN YIMENG LI YUPING MENG XUELIN TIAN SHUQIANG LIU DEFU HU 2021BIOCELL2021,45,2:2
5Polarization of plane wave propagating inside elastic hexagonal system solids显示文摘Based on the reported physical parameters for hexagonal system solids,we have calculated the effects of anisotropy on polarization of plane P-wave propagation.Herein we report the results of calculations and the newly observed physical phenomena.It is found that,for a given propagation,if the polarization is parallel to the wave vector,so also to the Poynting vector.In such a case,the phase velocity is identical to the energy velocity;the quasi P-wave degenerates to a pure P-wave along the propagation.It is also noted that if the polarization is parallel to the Poynting vector but not to the wave vector,the propagating wave cannot be a pure P-wave.Furthermore,the polarization in a quasi P-wave may deviate from the wave vector for more than 45°,but the deviation from the Poynting vector is always less than 45°.The energy velocity of a quasi SV-wave can be larger than that of the quasi P-wave in some propagation directions,even though the phase velocity of a quasi SV-wave may never be larger than either the phase velocity or energy velocity of the quasi P-wave.Finally,in case of parameters ε=0 and δ*≠0,the polarization of a quasi P-wave has an observed symmetry at a 45°phase angle.The anisotropy of a hexagonal system solid determines if a pure P-wave can be created and what the propagation direction is for a plane wave propagating inside such a hexagonal system solid.FA Lin ZHAO MeiShan LIU YongChang WANG Lei WANG YanQiang SUN JiGang 2014Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2014,57,2:2
6Effects of electric-acoustic and acoustic-electric conversions of transducers on acoustic logging signal显示文摘Based on an acoustic logging transmission network and the engineering pattern of a sliding wave in acoustic logging, analysis and calculations have been performed in a study of the effects of the electric-acoustic and acoustic-electric conversions of the transducers on the acoustic logging signal. The results show that acoustic-electric conversion through the transducer can cause not only a serious disturbance in the signal amplitude, but also an apparent transmission delay. For engineering applications, the amplitude variation and transmission delay must be accounted for in a practical analysis of the acoustic logging signal in rocks. The results also show that with enhanced understanding and proper justification, the error caused by the acoustic-electric conversion can be significantly reduced in evaluation of the cement bond quality of a cased well, and the accuracy of rock porosity calculated using the measured acoustic velocity can be increased.FA Lin XIE WenYan TIAN Yong ZHAO MeiShan MA Li DONG DaQun 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,11:2

15Acoustic Goos-H?nchen effect显示文摘We report two models of the lateral displacement of acoustic-wave scattering on a fluid-solid interface that reveal an acoustic analog of the Goos-H?nchen effect in optics. This acoustic analog is called the acoustic Goos-H?nchen effect. Using newly proposed models, we made numerical calculations for the system of a water-Perspex interface. Specifically, in the post-critical-angle region,we observed a lateral displacement(and transition time) of the reflected P-wave with respect to the incident P-wave. The first arrival of the acoustic signal from the interface is found to be a reflected P-wave rather than the sliding-refraction P-wave usually described in traditional acoustic-logging sliding P-wave theory.
