Hydraulic fracture initiation theory for a horizontal well in a coal seam显示文摘A series of experiments were performed to determine rock mechanical parameters related to hydraulic fracturing of coal. The effect of confining pressure and pore pressure on the strength of coal was studied.Experimental results show that the coal seam in the study areas has a relatively low elastic modulus, high Poisson's ratio, high fragility and is easily broken and compressed. The coal seam is considered as a transversely isotropic medium, since the physical properties in the direction of bedding plane and orthogonal to the bedding plane vary markedly.Based on the generalized plane strain model, stress distribution for an arbitrarily orientated wellbore in the coal seam was determined. In a horizontal well, hydraulic fracturing was found to initiate in the coal seam mass due to tensile failure,or from cleats due to shear or tensile failure. For those coal seams with abundant natural cleats, hydraulic fracture initiation can be induced by any of these mechanisms. In this study, hydraulic fracture initiation criteria for a horizontal well in a coal seam were established. | Hou Bing Chen Mian Wang Zheng Yuan Jianbo Liu Ming | 2013 | Petroleum Science2013,10,2: | 18

Epigenetic regulation of dental pulp stem cells and its potential in regenerative endodontics显示文摘Regenerative endodontics(RE)therapy means physiologically replacing damaged pulp tissue and regaining functional dentin–pulp complex.Current clinical RE procedures recruit endogenous stem cells from the apical papilla, periodontal tissue, bone marrow and peripheral blood, with or without application of scaffolds and growth factors in the root canal space, resulting in cementum-like and bone-like tissue formation.Without the involvement of dental pulp stem cells(DPSCs),it is unlikely that functional pulp regeneration can be achieved, even though acceptable repair can be acquired.DPSCs,due to their specific odontogenic potential, high proliferation, neurovascular property, and easy accessibility, are considered as the most eligible cell source for dentin–pulp regeneration. The regenerative potential of DPSCs has been demonstrated by recent clinical progress.DPSC transplantation following pulpectomy has successfully reconstructed neurovascularized pulp that simulates the physiological structure of natural pulp. The self-renewal,proliferation,and odontogenic differentiation of DPSCs are under the control of a cascade of transcription factors.Over recent decades, epigenetic modulations implicating histone modifications,DNA methylation, and noncoding(nc)RNAs have manifested as a new layer of gene regulation. These modulations exhibit a profound effect on the cellular activities of DPSCs.In this review,we offer an overview about epigenetic regulation of the fate of DPSCs;in particular,on the proliferation, odontogenic differentiation, angiogenesis, and neurogenesis. We emphasize recent discoveries of epigenetic molecules that can alter DPSC status and promote pulp regeneration through manipulation over epigenetic profiles. | Ying Liu Lu Gan Di-Xin Cui Si-Han Yu Yue Pan Li-Wei Zheng Mian Wan | 2021 | World Journal of Stem Cells2021,13,11: | 7

Surface functionalized N-C-TiO_(2)/C nanocomposites derived from metal-organic framework in water vapour for enhanced photocatalytic H generation显示文摘Surface-functionalized nitrogen/carbon co-doped polymorphic TiO_(2) phase junction nanoparticles uniformly distributed in porous carbon matrix were synthesized by a simple one-step pyrolysis of titanium based metal-organic framework(MOF),NH_(2)-MIL^(-1)25(Ti) at 700℃ under water vapour atmosphere.Introducing water vapour during the pyrolysis of NH_(2)-MIL^(-1)25(Ti) not only functionalizes the derived porous carbon matrix with carboxyl groups but also forms additional oxygen-rich N like interstitial/intraband states lying above the valence band of TiO2 along with the self-doped carbo n,which further narrows the energy band gaps of polymorphic TiO2 nanoparticles that enhance photocatalytic charge transfer efficiency.Without co-catalyst,sample N-C-TiO2/CArW demonstrates H_(2) evolution activity of 426 μmol gcat-1h^(-1),which remarkably outperforms commercial TiO_(2)(P-25) and N-C-TiO_(2)/CAr with a 5-fold and 3-fold H_(2) generation, respectively. This study clearly shows that water vapour atmosphere during the pyrolysis increases the hydrophilicity of the Ti-MOF derived composites by functionalizing porous carbon matrix with carboxylic groups,as well as enhancing the electrical conductivity and charge transfer efficiency due to the formation of additional localized oxygen-rich N like interstitial/intraband states. This work also demonstrates that by optimizing the anatase-rutile phase composition of the TiO2 polymorphs, tuning the energy band gaps by N/C co-doping and functionalizing the porous carbon matrix in the N-C-TiO2/C nanocomposites, the photocatalytic H_(2) generation activity can be further enhanced. | Mian Zahid Hussain Zhuxian Yang Bart van der Linden Zheng Huang Quanli Jia Erik Cerrato Roland A.Fischer Freek Kapteijn Yanqiu Zhu Yongde Xia | 2021 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,6: | 3

Inverted U-Shaped Associations between Glycemic Indices and Serum Uric Acid Levels in the General Chinese Population:Findings from the China Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer Cohort(4C)Study显示文摘Objective The relationship between serum uric acid(SUA)levels and glycemic indices, including plasma glucose(FPG),2-hour postload glucose(2 h-PG),and glycated hemoglobin(HbA1 c),remains inconclusive. We aimed to explore the associations between glycemic indices and SUA levels in the general Chinese population. Methods The current study was a cross-sectional analysis using the first follow-up survey data from The China Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer Cohort Study.A total of 105,922 community-dwelling adults aged≥40 years underwent the oral glucose tolerance test and uric acid assessment. The nonlinear relationships between glycemic indices and SUA levels were explored using generalized additive models. Results A total of 30,941 men and 62,361 women were eligible for the current analysis.Generalized additive models verified the inverted U-shaped association between glycemic indices and SUA levels, but with different inflection points in men and women. The thresholds for FPG,2 h-PG,and HbA1 c for men and women were 6.5/8.0 mmol/L,11.0/14.0 mmol/L,and 6.1/6.5,respectively(SUA levels increased with increasing glycemic indices before the inflection points and then eventually decreased with further increases in the glycemic indices). Conclusion An inverted U-shaped association was observed between major glycemic indices and uric acid levels in both sexes, while the inflection points were reached earlier in men than in women. | ZHU Yuan Yue ZHENG Rui Zhi WANG Gui Xia CHEN Li SHI Li Xin SU Qing XU Min XU Yu CHEN Yu Hong YU Xue Feng YAN Li WANG Tian Ge ZHAO Zhi Yun QIN Gui Jun WAN Qin CHEN Gang GAO Zheng Nan SHEN Fei Xia LUO Zuo Jie QIN Ying Fen HUO Ya Nan LI Qiang YE Zhen ZHANG Yin Fei LIU Chao WANG You Min WU Sheng Li YANG Tao DENG Hua Cong ZHAO Jia Jun CHEN Lu Lu MU Yi Ming TANG Xu Lei HU Ru Ying WANG Wei Qing NING Guang LI Mian LU Jie Li BI Yu Fang | 2021 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2021,34,1: | 2

3D dynamic motion of a dielectric micro-sphere within optical tweezers显示文摘Known as laser trapping, optical tweezers, with nanometer accuracy and pico-newton precision, plays a pivotal role in single bio-molecule measurements and controllable motions of micro-machines.In order to advance the flourishing applications for those achievements,it is necessary to make clear the three-dimensional dynamic process of micro-particles stepping into an optical field. In this paper,we utilize the ray optics method to calculate the optical force and optical torque of a micro-sphere in optical tweezers. With the influence of viscosity force and torque taken into account,we numerically solve and analyze the dynamic process of a dielectric micro-sphere in optical tweezers on the basis of Newton mechanical equations under various conditions of initial positions and velocity vectors of the particle. The particle trajectory over time can demonstrate whether the particle can be successfully trapped into the optical tweezers center and reveal the subtle details of this trapping process.Even in a simple pair of optical tweezers, the dielectric micro-sphere exhibits abundant phases of mechanical motions including acceleration, deceleration, and turning. These studies will be of great help to understand the particle-laser trap interaction in various situations and promote exciting possibilities for exploring novel ways to control the mechanical dynamics of microscale particles. | Jing Liu Mian Zheng Zhengjun Xiong Zhiyuan Li | 2021 | Opto-Electronic Advances2021,4,1: | 2
Dispersion-less Kerr solitons in spectrally confined optical cavities显示文摘Solitons are self-reinforcing localized wave packets that manifest in the major areas of nonlinear science, from optics to biology and Bose-Einstein condensates.Recently, optically driven dissipative solitons have attracted great attention for the implementation of the chip-scale frequency combs that are decisive for communications, spectroscopy, neural computing, and quantum information processing. In the current understanding, the generation of temporal solitons involves the chromatic dispersion as a key enabling physical effect, acting either globally or locally on the cavity dynamics in a decisive way. Here,we report on a novel class of solitons, both theoretically and experimentally, which builds up in spectrally confined optical cavities when dispersion is practically absent, both globally and locally.Precisely, the interplay between the Kerr nonlinearity and spectral filtering results in an infiinite hierarchy of eigenfunctions which, combined with optical gain, allow for the generation of stable dispersion-less dissipative solitons in a previously unexplored regime. When the filter order tends to infinity,we find an unexpected link between dissipative and conservative solitons,in the form of Nyquist-pulse-like solitons endowed with an ultra-flat spectrum. In contrast to the conventional dispersion-enabled nonlinear Schr?dinger solitons, these dispersion-less Nyquist solitons build on a fully confined spectrum and their energy scaling is not constrained by the pulse duration.Dispersion-less soliton molecules and their deterministic transitioning to single solitons are also evidenced. These findings broaden the fundamental scope of the dissipative soliton paradigm and open new avenues for generating soliton pulses and frequency combs endowed with unprecedented temporal and spectral features. | Xiaoxiao Xue Philippe Grelu Bofan Yang Mian Wang Shangyuan Li Xiaoping Zheng Bingkun Zhou | 2023 | Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,1: | 1

Engineered gold/black phosphorus nanoplatforms with remodeling tumor microenvironment for sonoactivated catalytic tumor theranostics显示文摘The imbalance between oxidants and antioxidants in cancer cells would evoke oxidative stress-induced cell death, which has been demonstrated to be highly effective in treating malignant tumors.Sonodynamic therapy(SDT)adopts ultrasound(US)as the excitation source to induce the production of reactive oxygen species(ROS),which emerges as a noninvasive therapeutic strategy with deep tissue penetration depth and high clinical safety.Herein,we construct novel sonoactivated oxidative stress amplification nanoplatforms by coating MnO_(2) on Au nanoparticle-anchored black phosphorus nanosheets and decorating soybean phospholipid subsequently(Au/BP@MS).The Au/BP@MS exhibit increased ROS generation efficiency under US irradiation in tumor tissues due to Au/BP nanosensitizer-induced improvement of electron-hole separation as well as MnO_(2)-mediated O_(2) generation and GSH depletion, thus leading to notable inhibition effect on tumor growth. Moreover, tumor microenvironment-responsive biodegradability of Au/BP@MS endows them with enhanced magnetic resonance imaging guidance and clinical potential for cancer theranostics. | Ting Chen Weiwei Zeng Changjun Tie Mian Yu Huisong Hao Yang Deng Qianqian Li Hairong Zheng Meiying Wu Lin Mei | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,4: | 1

Disturbed bone remodelling activity varies in different stages of experimental, gradually progressive apical periodontitis in rats显示文摘Bone remodelling keeps going through the lifespan of human by bone formation and bone resorption. In the craniofacial region, mandibles act as the main force for biting and chewing, and also become susceptible to a common bone-loss disease, namely, apical periodontitis, once infected dental pulp is not treated timely, during which bone resorption occurs from the apical foramen to the apical bone area.Although conventional root canal treatment(RCT)can remove the most of the infection, chronical apical periodontitis due to incomplete removal of dental pulp and subsequent microleakage will become refractory and more challenging, and this process has scarcely been specifically studied as a bone remodelling issue in rat models. Therefore,to study chronical and refractory apical periodontitis owing to incomplete cleaning of infected dental pulp and microleackage in vivo,we establish a modified rat model of gradually progressive apical periodontitis by sealing residual necrotic dental pulp and introducing limited saliva, which simulates gradually progressive apical periodontitis,as observed in the clinical treatment of chronical and refractory apical periodontitis. We show that bone-loss is inevitable and progressive in this case of apical periodontitis, which confirms again that complete and sound root canal treatment is crucial to halt the progression of chronical and refractory apical periodontitis and promote bone formation.Interestingly, bone remodelling was enhanced at the initial stage of apical periodontitis in this model while reduced with a high osteoblast number afterwards,as shown by the time course study of the modified model.Suggesting that the pathological apical microenvironment reserve its hard tissue formation ability to some degree but in a disturbed manner.Hopefully, our findings can provide insights for future bone regenerative treatment for apical periodontitisassociated bone loss. | Ruoshi Xu Daimo Guo Xuedong Zhou Jianxun Sun Yachuan Zhou Yi Fan Xin Zhou Mian Wan Wei Du Liwei Zheng | 2019 | International Journal of Oral Science2019,11,4: | 1
