1Protective effect of Shenfu injection on myocardial mitochondria injured by ischemia-reperfusion in rabbits显示文摘The main active components of Shenfu injection (SFI), an extract of traditional Chinese herbs, are ginsenoside and higenamine. Ginsenoside can improve ischemic myocardium metabolism, scavenge free radicals, protect myocardial ultrastructure and reduce Ca2+ overload. Higenamine can enhance heart contractility, improve coronary circulation and decrease the effect of acute myocardial ischemia. SFI was found to have had some cardiac protective effect during cardiopulmonary bypass.1,2 SFI was added into St. Thomas crystal cardioplegic solution in this study to investigate the protective effect of SFI on ischemic-reperfused rabbit heart and to observe the influence on mitochondrial oxygen free radical (OFR), Ca2+ and mitochondrial ultrastructure.CAOJun ZHENGChuan-dong ZHANGGuang-xin ZHANGYou-jun MINSu 2005Chinese Medical Journal2005,,6:29

4Clinicopathologic analysis of esophageal and cardiac cancers and survey of molecular expression on tissue arrays in Chaoshan littoral of China显示文摘AIM: To investigate clinical and pathologic data of esophageal carcinoma (EC) and cardiac carcinoma (CC) among residents in Chaoshan region of China.METHODS: Clinical and pathologic data of 9 650 patients with EC and 4 173 patients with CC in the Chaoshan population were collected and analyzed. Moreover,Chaoshan esophageal carcinoma tissue arrays were made for high-throughput study.RESULTS: Male to female ratio was 3:1 in patients with EC and 4.75:1 in CC. The average age of the occurrenceof EC was 54.6 years, and of CC was 58.1 years. For both EC and CC, age at diagnosis was a little younger in Chaoshan region than in most other areas. The most commonly affected site of esophageal carcinoma was the middle third of esophagus (72.0%); the second was the lower third (15.3%). The main gross type of esophageal carcinoma was ulcerative type (41.50%); the medullary type was the second (39.6%). Squamous cell carcinoma accounted for the overwhelming majority of esophageal cancer (96.4%);adenocarcinoma accounted for the overwhelming majority of cardiac carcinoma (94.5%). Chaoshan esophageal carcinoma tissue arrays were easily for high-throughput study, and tissue cores with a diameter of 1.5 mm could better keep more structure for molecular expression study.CONCLUSION: Both EC and CC are common in males.The average occurrence age of EC and CC is younger in Chaoshan than in most other regions of China. The most commonly affected site of esophageal carcinoma was the middle third of esophagus (72.0%). Squamous cell carcinoma accounted for the overwhelming majority of esophageal cancer; adenocarcinoma accounted for the overwhelming majority of cardiac carcinoma. 5Seed-mediated synthesis of dendritic platinum nanostructures with high catalytic activity for aqueous-phase hydrogenation of acetophenone显示文摘This work reports a facile and efficient seed-mediated method for the synthesis of dendritic platinum(Pt)nanoparticles(NPs) at low temperatures of 55–60 °C in water, using L-ascorbic acid as a reducing agent and sodium citrate as a capping agent. It is found that the dendritic Pt NPs(10–150 nm) are composed of tiny Pt nanocrystals, which nucleate and grow through the introduced smaller Pt seeds with diameters of 3–5 nm.Further investigation shows that the dendritic Pt nanostructures display excellent catalytic performance in an aqueous-phase aromatic ketone hydrogenation reaction, including:(i) acetophenone conversion rate of> 90%, with smaller dendritic Pt NPs(10–46 nm) offering a higher conversion efficiency;(ii) high chemoselectivity toward carbonyl group(90.6%–91.5%), e.g., the selectivity to 1-phenylethanol is ~90.1% with nearly100% acetophenone conversion for 10 nm dendritic Pt NPs within 60 min, under mild reaction conditions(20 °C, 1.5 bar H2 pressure, and 1.5 mol% catalyst). 7Effect of ionic composition on thermal properties of energetic ionic liquids显示文摘A model to predict the effect of ionic composition on the thermal properties of energetic ionic liquids was developed by quantitative structure-property relationship modeling,which predicted the detonation velocity,pressure,and melting temperature of energetic ionic liquids.A hybrid approach was used to determine the optimal subset of descriptors by combining regression with the genetic algorithm as an optimization method.The model showed the high accuracy,reaching a correlation factor of R^(2) as 0.71,0.73 and 0.68 for the correlation between the calculated detonation velocity,pressure and melting temperature against reported values.It was validated extensively and compared to the Kamlet–Jacobs equation.The effect of ion composition on the thermal properties of energetic ionic liquids could be quantitatively analyzed through the developed model,to give an insight for the design of new energetic ionic liquids.Chihyun Park Minsu Han Jinbo Kim Woojae Lee Eunkyoung Kim 2018npj Computational Materials2018,,1:2

15Gastric angiodysplasia in a hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia type 2 patient显示文摘Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia(HHT)is a rare autosomal-dominantly inherited disease that occurs in approximately one in 5000 to 8000 people.Clinical diagnosis of HHT is made when a person presents three of the following four criteria:family history,recurrent nosebleeds,mucocutaneous telangiectasis,and arteriovenous malformations(AVM)in the brain,lung,liver and gastrointestinal(GI)tract.Although epistaxis is themost common presenting symptom,AVMs affecting the lungs,brain and GI tract provoke a more serious outcome.Heterozygous mutations in endoglin,activin receptor-like kinase 1(ACVRL1;ALK1),and SMAD4,the genes involved in the transforming growth factor-βfamily signaling cascade,cause HHT.We report here the case of a 63 year-old male patient who presented melena and GI bleeding episodes,proven to be caused by bleeding from multiple gastric angiodysplasia.Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed multiple angiodysplasia throughout the stomach.Endoscopic argon plasma coagulation was performed to control bleeding from a gastric angiodysplasia.The patient has been admitted several times with episodes of hemoptysis and hematochezia.One year ago,the patient was hospitalized due to right-sided weakness,which was caused by left basal ganglia hemorrhage as the part of HHT presentation.In family history,the patient's mother and elder sister had died,due to intracranial hemorrhage,and his eldest son has been suffered from recurrent epistaxis for 20 years.A genetic study revealed a mutation in exon 3 of ALK1(c.199C>T;p.Arg67Trp)in the proband and his eldest son presenting epistaxis.Minsu Ha Yoon Jae Kim Kwang An Kwon Ki Baik Hahm Mi-Jung Kim Dong Kyu Kim Young Jae Lee S Paul Oh 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,15:1
