| 1 | Assessment of performance,combustion and emissions characteristics of methanol-diesel dual-fuel compression ignition engine:A review显示文摘The energy security concern and rapidly diminishing fossil fuel resources demand the development of renewable and economically attractive fuel for reciprocating engines.Methanol is a promising renewable alternative fuel.Numerous studies have been carried out to explore the various aspects of the utilization of methanol in compression ignition(CI)engine.This review paper presents a detailed analysis of the effect of methanol on performance,combustion,and emission(NOx,CO,HC,and soot)characteristics of conventional CI-engine along with dual-fuel combustion mode.This study focuses on methanol utilization in dual-fuel mode,which is an advanced engine combustion mode.First,methanol production and solubility issues of methanol in diesel are briefly discussed.This study discusses the soot and nano-particle emission from the methanol fueled CI-engine,which is one of the main concerns in the current emission legislation.It was found that the utilization of methanol in CI-engine has the potential to improve the performance and simultaneously with a significant reduction in NOx,CO,soot,and nano-particle emissions in comparison to neat diesel operation.However,unburnt HC emission reduces for methanol-diesel blended fuel operation whereas HC emissions are higher for methanoldiesel dual-fuel operation. | Mohit Raj Saxena Rakesh Kumar Maurya Prashant Mishra | 2021 | Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering(English Edition)2021,8,5: | 4 |
| 2 | Dragonfly Inspired Nanocomposite Flapping Wing for Micro Air Vehicles显示文摘The current research is aimed towards the development of dragonfly inspired nanocomposite flapping wing for micro air vehicles(MAVs).The wing is designed by taking inspiration from the hind wing of dragonfly(Anax Parthenope Julius).Carbon nanotubes(CNTs)/polypropylene nanocomposite and low-density polyethylene are used as the wing materials.The nanocomposites are developed with varying CNTs'weight percentage(0%-1%)and characterized for dynamic mechanical properties,which revealed that the 0.1 weight percentage case produces highest storage modulus values throughout the frequency range(1 Hz一90 Hz).It is also observed that the storage modulus values are in the range ofYoung^modulus of veins and membrane of natural insect wings.This is useful to achieve true biomimicking.Advanced manufacturing technique such as photolithography is used for wing fabrication.The length,weight and average thickness of the fabricated wing are^44 mm,26.22 mg and 187 pm,respectively.The structural dynamic properties of the fa bricated wing are obtained experimentally and computationally using DIC and ANSYS,respectively.The developed dragonfly inspired wing showed a natural frequency of 29.4 Hz with a bending mode shape which is close to the characteristic frequency of its natural counterpart. | David Kumar Preetamkumar Marutrao Mohite Sudhir Kamle | 2019 | Journal of Bionic Engineering2019,16,5: | 3 |

Slate, dolomitic limestone, silty sandstone and rhythmite of the Krol Formation are the main rock types. The present study focuses on the investigation of slope stability in the region in terms of potential seismicity and landslide. Geological and geotechnical mapping indicates that the major portion of the area is characterized by slope wash materials and buildings. The combination of 3-4 joint sets with one random joint is the main structure at outcrops.The major geological structures of this area are Nainital lake fault passing from the center of the lake, Main Boundary Thrust at SW, and Khuriya Fault passing from the SE direction of Nainital City. This work finds that different types of discontinuities(e.g. joints and faults), overburden due to unplanned civil structures,and neotectonic activity in the vicinity of this ara affect the stability of the city. The slate forms the base of the city, dipping slightly towards the lake side along the NW direction, thus accelerating the instability of this area. Rock mass rating(RMR), slope mass rating, factor of safety(FOS) and graphical analysis of the discontinuity for slope kinematics indicate that the study area is a landslide-prone zone. | 15 | Slope stability analysis of Balia Nala landslide, Kumaun Lesser Himalaya, Nainital, Uttarakhand, India显示文摘Balia Nala is the outlet of the Nainital lake, flowing towards southeast direction. Presence of Nainital habitation at its right bank has high socio-economic importance. This study presents the stability analysis of a ravine/valley along Balia Nala. Variegated slates(lower Krol and upper Blaini formations) are the main rock types, wherever the outcrop does exist and rest of the area is covered by slope wash and river borne materials. Three sets of joints are presented in the area, but 4 sets of joints also exist at some locations. Nainital lake fault intersected by Manora fault from southwest direction passes through eastern side of the study area, and some small faults, which are sub-branches of Nainital lake fault, are observed(with 10 m offset) and promote the landslide in the area. This study shows that different kinds of discontinuities(joints, faults and shear zones) and rapid down cutting by the stream due to neotectonic activity affect the stability of the slope. The fragile lithology and deep V-shaped valley further accelerate the mass movement in the study area. In addition, rock mass rating(RMR), factor of safety(FOS) and graphical analysis of the joints indicate the study area as landslide-prone zone. | 20 | Wooden stick penetration from the perineal region up to the thorax显示文摘BACKGROUND: Penetrating injuries of the perineum are rare but very dangerous. Since the genitourinary and colorectal organs may be injured, how to evaluate surgical management of the injury is very important.METHODS: The present report presents a case of penetrating injury of the perineum by a wooden stick when the patient fell on the upright wooden stick from a tree. The three feet long stick entered the perineal region just left lateral to the anal opening. Upon reaching the thoracic cavity, it broke and only a foot stick was left in the subcutaneous plane. These injuries are potentially serious with risk of damage to multiple organs. Exploratory laprotomy was done, and bladder injury was repaired.
