4Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy for Comparative Quantitative Analysis of Betel Leaves from Pakistan显示文摘Laser induced breakdown Spectroscopy(LIBS)was applied for the elemental analysis and exposure of the heavy metals in betel leaves in air.Pulsed Nd∶YAG(1064 nm)in conjunction with a suitable detector(LIBS 2000+,Ocean Optics,Inc)having the optical resolution of 0.06 nm was used to record the emission spectra from 220 to 720 nm.Elements like Al,Ba,Ca,Cr,Cu,P,Fe,K,Mg,Mn,Na,P,S,Sr,and Zn were found to present in the samples. The relative abundances of the observed elements were calculated through standard calibration curve method, integrated intensity ratio method, and weight percentage LIBS approach.LIBS findings were validated by comparing its results with the results obtained using a typical analytical technique of Inductively Coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy(ICP-OES).Limit of detection(LOD)of the LIBS system was also estimated for heavy metals. The experience gain through this work implies that LIBS could be highly applicable for testing the quality and purity of food products.I Rehan K Rehan S Sultana R Muhammad 2018光谱学与光谱分析2018,38,10:1

8Predatory Efficacy of Cotton Inhabiting Spiders on Bemisiatabaci, Amrascadevastans Thripstabaci and Helicoverpa armigera in Laboratory Conditions显示文摘Distinction of predator's diet and prey choice preference is a hot topic of current investigations. Spider being generalist predator and cosmopoliter in nature acts as biological control agent in many agro-ecosystems. In the current study, predatory efficacy of five spiders(Pardosa birmanica, Cyclosa insulana, Thomisus projectus, Plexippus paykulli and Lycosa terrestris) inhabiting the cotton fi eldevaluated in the laboratory conditions maintained at(27±2)℃ temperature, 65%±5% relative humidity and 12 : 12 h of light and dark photoperiod. Four key cotton pests' viz. Bemisiatabaci, Amrascadevastans Thripstabaci and Helicoverpa armigera were utilized in the choice and no-choice predatory studies. The findings of current investigation revealed that each predatory spider utilized at least one pest species. Predation rate was found higher in the no-choice predation because of unavailability of substitutes feeding source. The investigation also indicated each predatory spider killed more pests than consumed. The findings of this study support the predatory role of spiders in controlling the cotton major pests.Mohsin S B Li Yi-jing Tang Li-jie Maqsood I Ting Ma-sun Han Le-meng Khalil U R Andleeb S Muhammad S K Saleem M A 2015Journal of Northeast Agricultural University(English Edition)2015,22,3:1

16Does music reduce anxiety and discomfort during flexible sigmoidoscopy?A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘AIM To investigate the role of music in reducing anxiety and discomfort during flexible sigmoidoscopy. METHODS A systematic review of all comparative studies up to November 2016, without language restriction that were identified from MEDLINE and the Cochrane Controlled Trials Register(1960-2016), and EMBASE(1991-2016). Further searches were performed using the bibliographies of articles and abstracts from major conferences such as the ESCP, NCRI, ASGBI and ASCRS. Me SH and text word terms used included 'sigmoidoscopy', 'music' and 'endoscopy' and 'anxiety'. All comparative studies reporting on the effect of music on anxiety or pain during flexible sigmoidoscopy, in adults, were included. Outcome data was extracted by 2 authors independently using outcome measures defined a priori. Quality assessment was performed.RESULTS A total of 4 articles published between 1994 and 2010, fulfilled the selection criteria. Data were extracted and analysed using OpenM etaA nalyst. Patients who listened to music during their flexible sigmoidoscopy had less anxiety compared to control groups [Random effects; SMD: 0.851(0.467, 1.235), S.E = 0.196, P < 0.001]. There was no statistically significant heterogeneity(Q = 0.085, df = 1, P = 0.77, I2 = 0). Patients who listened to music during their flexible sigmoidoscopy had less pain compared to those who did not, but this difference did not reach statistical significance [Randomeffects; SMD: 0.345(-0.014, 0.705), S.E = 0.183, P = 0.06]. Patients who listened to music during their flexible sigmoidoscopy felt it was a useful intervention, compared to those who did not(P < 0.001). There was no statistically significant heterogeneity(P = 0.528, I2 = 0). CONCLUSION Music appeared to benefit patients undergoing flexible sigmoidoscopies in relation to anxiety and was deemed a helpful intervention. Pain may also be reduced however further investigation is required to ascertain this.Arun P Shanmuganandan Muhammad R Sameem Siddiqui Nicholas Farkas Kiran Sran Rhys Thomas Said Mohamed Robert I Swift Al Mutaz Abulafi 2017World Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy2017,9,5:1
