1Estimation of infiltration models parameters and their comparison to simulate the onsite soil infiltration characteristics显示文摘Detailed knowledge about soil characteristics and site-specific final steady infiltration rate could help to increase the irrigation water use efficiency and decrease water losses in agricultural system. The experiments were conducted on Agricultural Research Farm of Bahauddin Zakariya University,Multan,Pakistan during 2016.The cumulative infiltration depth was measured using double ring infiltrometer at selected six points of the study area. Most commonly used infiltration models such as Kostikov’s,Philip’s and Horton’s were fitted to the field infiltration data for determination of model parameters and to find the best fit model for the study area.Kostikov’s infiltration model’s parameters such as empirical constant‘c’and infiltration decay constants‘k’were obtained in the ranges of 0.140-0.290 and 0.307-0.433,respectively.Philip’s infiltration model’s parameters such as sorptivity‘S’and conductivity constant‘A’were found in the ranges of 0.167-0.288 cm/min1/2 and-0.001 to-0.009 cm/min,respectively.Similarly,the Horton’s model’s‘parameter‘k’was obtained in the range of-1.619 to-1.238.The value of infiltration capacity at onset of infiltration(fo)was obtained as 1.744 to 3.491 for all the six points. The analysis showed that the infiltration models using the estimated parameters have satisfactory prediction capability at all the selected points.Horton’s model provided the lowest mean values for RMSE(0.235)and highest mean values for ME(94%);and the lowest mean values for MPD(0.127).This indicated that infiltration can be well-described by the Horton’s model at the selected site.Hafiz Umar Farid Zahid Mahmood-Khan Ijaz Ahmad Aamir Shakoor Muhammad Naveed Anjum Muhammad Mazhar Iqbal Muhammad Mubeen Muhammad Asghar 2019International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,3:0
2Evaluation of antileishmanial, antibacterial and brine shrimp cytotoxic potential of crude methanolic extract of Herb Ocimum basilicum(Lamiacea)显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To collect and screen for ethnopharmacological properties(antileishmanial, antibacterial and brine lethality assays) of medicinal plant Ocimum basilicum from Peshawar region(34.008 latitude and 71.57 altitudes).METHODS:In the present study a general antileishmanial activity against Leishmania tropica strain was carried out.The antibacterial potential of the plant was performed against 06 gram positive and 06 gram negative bacteria.Brine shrimp cytotoxicity assay at different concentrations were investigated.RESULTS:The anti-promastigotes profile of the plant showed good antileishmanial activity exhibited LC_(50) value 21.67 μg/mL.The result for gram positive antibacterial activity revealed that the O.basilicum leaves extract possesses significant inhibitory activity at highest two concentrations ranging from20.66 ± 0.31 to 31.86 ± 0.80 for Clostridium perfringens type C and Bacillus subtitilis, respectively,as compared to the gentamycin(27.36 ± 0.55 and21.80 ± 0.72,respectively).For gram negative bacteria good activity was observed.A highest zone of inhibition was recorded for Pseudomonas aeroginosa(28.83 ± 0.28) atthe highest concentration(10 mg/mL).The LC_(50) value obtained for brine shrimp lethality assay was 91.56 μg/mL.CONCLUSION:The herb basil possesses effective cidal activities which make this plant a good candidate for the isolation of antiprotozoal and antibacterial compounds which may lead to the development of novel drug.Imran Khan Kafeel Ahmad Ali Talha Khalil Jangrez Khan Yusra Ali Khan Muhammad Shahab Saqib Muhammad Naveed Umar Hilal Ahmad 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,3:0
3A study of heat and mass transfer on magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)flow of nanoparticles显示文摘Investigation of the flow, heat and mass transfer of a nanofluid over a suddenly moved flat plate is presented using Buongiorno's model. This study is different from some of the previous studies as the effects of Brownian motion and thermophoresis on nanoparticles volume fraction are passively controlled on the boundary rather than actively. The partial differential equations governing the flow are reduced to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations.Viable similarity transforms are used for this purpose.A well-known numerical scheme called Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method coupled with shooting procedure has been used to find the solution of resulting system of equations.Discussions on the effects of different emerging parameters is provided using graphical aid.A table is also given that provides the results of different parameters on local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers. The passive control model can be used to control the boundary layer thickness as well as the rate of mass transfer at the wall.Syed Tauseef Mohyud-Din Umar Khan Naveed Ahmed Muhammad Mehdi Rashidi 2018Propulsion and Power Research2018,7,1:0
