6Detection of Human Bocavirus in Children with Acute Respiratory Tract Infections in Lanzhou and Nanjing,China显示文摘Objective The aim of this study was to explore the prevalent characteristics of HBoV1 and its co-infection.Methods PCR was used to detect HBoV1-DNA(HBoV1) and other viruses.A multivariate logistic regression model was used to explore possibility of co-detected for related viruses.Results The positivity rates in Nanjing and Lanzhou were 9.38%(74/789) and 11.62%(161/1386),respectively(P>0.05).The HBoV1 positive group was younger than negative group(P<0.05).Seasonal differences were noted,with a higher frequency of infection in December and July.HBoV1-positive children [72.34%(169/235)] were co-infected with other respiratory viruses.Multifactorial analysis showed no correlations between HBoV1 and the clinical classification,region,gender,age,or treatment as an outpatient or in a hospital.Correlations were identified between HBoV1 infections with ADV(OR=1.53,95% CI 1.03-2.28),RSV(OR=0.71,95% CI 0.52-0.98),and IFVA(OR=1.77,95% CI 1.00-3.13).Conclusions Presence of HBoV1 in nasopharyngeal aspirates did not correlate with region or gender,although the prevalence of HBoV1 was higher in younger children.There were no correlations between HBoV1 and other variables,except for the season and ADV,RSV,or IFVA infections.WU Jian Jun JIN Yu LIN Na XIE Zhi Ping YU Jie Mei LI Jin Song CAO Chang Qing YUAN Xin Hui SONG Jin Rong ZHANG Jing ZHAO Yang GAO Xiao Qian DUAN Zhao Jun 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,11:7
7Phi-based risk calculators performed better in the prediction of prostate cancer in the Chinese population显示文摘Risk prediction models including the Prostate Health Index(phi)for prostate cancer have been well established and evaluated in the Western population.The aim of this study is to build phi-based risk calculators in a prostate biopsy population and evaluate their performanee in predicting prostate cancer(PCa)and high-grade PCa(Gleason score 27)in the Chinese population.We developed risk calculators based on 635 men who underwent initial prostate biopsy.Then,we validated the performance of prostate-specific antigen(PSA),phi,and the risk calculators in an additional observational cohort of 1045 men.We observed that the phi-based risk calculators(risk calculators 2 and 4)outperformed the PSA-based risk calculator for predicting PCa and high-grade PCa in the training cohort.In the validation study,the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)for risk calculators 2 and 4 reached 0.91 and 0.92,respectively,for predicting PCa and high-grade PCa,respectively;the AUC values were better than those for risk calculator 1(PSA-based model with an AUC of 0.81 and 0.82,respectively)(all P<0.001).Such superiority was also observed in the stratified population with PSA ranging from 2.0 ng ml^-1 to 10.0 ng ml^-1.Decision curves confirmed that a considerable proportion of unnecessary biopsies could be avoided while applying phi-based risk calculators.In this study,we showed that,compared to risk calculators without phi,phi-based risk calculators exhibited superior discrimination and calibration for PCa in the Chinese biopsy population.Applying these risk calculators also considerably reduced the number of unnecessary biopsies for PCa.Yi-Shuo Wu Xiao-Jian Fu Rong Na Ding-Wei Ye Jun Qi Xiao-Ling Lin Fang Liu Jian Gong Ning Zhang Guang-Liang Jiang Hao-Wen Jiang Qiang Ding Jianfeng Xu Ying-Hao Sun 2019Asian Journal of Andrology2019,21,6:6

10Osteoclasts are not a source of SLIT3显示文摘The axon guidance cue SLIT3 was identified as an osteoanabolic agent in two recent reports. However, these reports conflict in their nomination of osteoblasts versus osteoclasts as the key producers of skeletal SLIT3 and additionally offer conflicting data on the effects of SLIT3 on osteoclastogenesis. Here, aiming to address this discrepancy, we found no observable SLIT3 expression during human or mouse osteoclastogenesis and the only modest SLIT3-mediated effects on osteoclast differentiation. Conditional deletion of SLIT3 in cathepsin K(CTSK)-positive cells, including osteoclasts, had no effect on the number of osteoclast progenitors, in vitro osteoclast differentiation, overall bone mass, or bone resorption/formation parameters. Similar results were observed with the deletion of SLIT3 in Lys M-positive cells, including osteoclast lineage cells. Consistent with this finding, bone marrow chimeras made from Slit3-/-donors that lacked SLIT3 expression at all stages of osteoclast development displayed normal bone mass relative to controls. 14Prostate Health Index(phi)and its derivatives predict Gleason score upgrading after radical prostatectomy among patients with low-risk prostate cancer显示文摘To analyze the performance of the Prostate Health Index(phi)and its derivatives for predicting Gleason score(GS)upgrading between prostate biopsy and radical prostatectomy(RP)in the Chinese population,an observational,prospective RP cohort consisting of 351 patients from two medical centers was established from January 2017 to September 2020.Pathological reclassification was determined by the Gleason Grade Group(GG).The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)and logistic regression(LR)models were used to evaluate the predictive performance of predictors.In clinically low-risk patients with biopsy GG≤2,phi(odds ratio[OR]=1.80,95%confidence interval[95%CI]:1.14-2.82,P=0.01)and its derivative phi density(PHID;OR=2.34,95%CI:1.30-4.20,P=0.005)were significantly associated with upgrading to GG≥3 after RP,and the results were confirmed by multivariable analysis.Similar results were observed in patients with biopsy GG of 1 for the prediction of upgrading to RP GG≥2.Compared to the base model(AUC=0.59),addition of the phi or PHID could provide additional predictive value for GS upgrading in low-risk patients(AUC=0.69 and 0.71,respectively,both P<0.05).In conclusion,phi and PHID could predict GS upgrading after RP in clinically low-risk patients.Jia-Qi Yan Da Huang Jing-Yi Huang Xiao-Hao Ruan Xiao-Ling Lin Zu-Jun Fang Yi Gao Hao-Wen Jiang Yi-Shuo Wu Rong Na Dan-Feng Xu 2022Asian Journal of Andrology2022,24,4:3

16Restriction of iron loading into developing seeds by a YABBY transcription factor safeguards successful reproduction in Arabidopsis显示文摘Iron(Fe)storage in plant seeds is not only necessary for seedling establishment following germination but is also a major source of dietary Fe for humans and other animals.Accumulation of Fe in seeds is known to be low during early seed development.However,the underlying mechanism and biological significance remain elusive.Here,we show that reduced expression of Arabidopsis YABBY transcription factor INNER NO OUTER(INO)increases embryonic Fe accumulation,while transgenic overexpression of INO results in the opposite effect.INO is highly expressed during early seed development,and decreased INO expression increases the expression of NATURAL RESISTANCE-ASSOCIATED MACROPHAGE PROTEIN 1(NRAMP1),which encodes a transporter that contributes to seed Fe loading.The relatively high embryonic Fe accumulation conferred by decreased INO expression is rescued by the nramp1 loss-of-function mutation.We further demonstrated that INO represses NRAMP1 expression by binding to NRAMP1-specific promoter region.Interestingly,we found that excessive Fe loading into developing seeds of ino mutants results in greater oxidative damage,leading to increased cell death and seed abortion,a phenotype that can be rescued by the nramp1 mutation.Taken together,these results indicate that INO plays an important role in safeguarding reproduction by reducing Fe loading into developing seeds by repressing NRAMP1 expression.Li Sun Yun Qi Wei Kang Hao Wu Jing Ying Yan Jie Na Xu Yun Rong Wu Gui Xin Li Ji Ming Xu Nicholas P.Harberd Zhong Jie Ding Shao Jian Zheng 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,10:3

18Investigation and assessment of micropollutants and associated biological effects in wastewater treatment processes显示文摘Currently,the wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)attempt to achieve the shifting from general pollution parameters control to reduction of organic micropollutants discharge.However,they have not been able to satisfy the increasing ecological safety needs.In this study,the removal of micropollutants was investigated,and the ecological safety was assessed for a local WWTP.Although the total concentration of 31 micropollutants detected was reduced by 83%using the traditional biological treatment processes,the results did not reflect chemicals that had poor removal efficiencies and low concentrations.Of the five categories of micropollutants,herbicides,insecticides,and bactericides were difficult to remove,pharmaceuticals and UV filters were effectively eliminated.The specific photosynthesis inhibition effect and non-specific bioluminescence inhibition effect from wastewater were detected and evaluated using hazardous concentration where 5%of aquatic organisms are affected.The photosynthesis inhibition effect from wastewater in the WWTP was negligible,even the untreated raw wastewater.However,the bioluminescence inhibition effect from wastewater which was defined as the priority biological effect,posed potential ecological risk.To decrease non-specific biological effects,especially of macromolecular dissolved organic matter,overall pollutant reduction strategy is necessary.Meanwhile,the ozonation process was used to further decrease the bioluminescence inhibition effects from the secondary effluent;≥0.34 g O 3/g DOC of ozone dose was recommended for micropollutants elimination control and ecological safety.Xiaoyan Y.Ma Ke Dong Lei Tang Yongkun Wang Xiaochang C.Wang Huu Hao Ngo Rong Chen Na Wang 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,8:3
19Simple Preparation of the Photocatalyst of Sn^(2+)-doped Titania显示文摘Preparation method of photocatalyst, using TiCl4 and SnCl2 as raw material and photocatalytic activity of nano-scaled core-shell Sn2+-doped titania photocatalyst was studied in this paper. The as-prepared samples were studied by UV-Vis, XRD, XPS, TEM. The particles of Sn2+-doped TiO2 photocatalyst, calcined from 150 to 600 °C for 5 h, possesses narrow particle size distribution and the sample was composed of anatase phase.
