2MgCl_2溶液中杂质离子的存在对氨气法制备Mg(OH)_2粒径的影响显示文摘MgCl_2是Mg(OH)_2 (MH)化学沉淀中常用的前驱体,但来自海水、菱镁矿和白云石等的MgCl_2中可能存在一些杂质,可能会影响所制备MH的质量。介绍了在MgCl_2溶液中分别加入不同种类的杂质离子,通过氨气沉淀法制备Mg(OH)_2(MH)产品,以此研究杂质离子的存在对所制备MH产品粒径的影响规律。实验结果表明,在MgCl_2溶液中阳离子的存在对所制备MH的粒径没有明显的影响,但阴离子的存在对所制备MH的粒径有显著的影响。当多价阴离子或单价AC^-存在时,甚至当杂质离子与MgCl_2的摩尔比低至1:120时,所制备的MH的平均粒径也可显著增加,而且其粒径分布也明显变宽。但是当阴离子杂质为单价的NO_3^-或Br^-时,对所制备的MH的粒径却没有明显的影响。闫红旭 徐梓淮 Nafiu Sadi Bature 刘云义 范天博 郭洪范 2019当代化工2019,48,3:2

10Mathematical analysis of a model for zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis显示文摘Zoonotic visceral leishmaniasis(ZVL),caused by the protozoan parasite Leishmania infantum and transmitted to humans and reservoirhosts by female sandflies,is endemic inmany parts of the world(notably in Africa,Asia and the Mediterranean).This study presents a new mathematical model for assessing the transmission dynamics of ZVL in human and non-human animal reservoir populations.The model undergoes the usual phenomenon of backward bifurcation exhibited by similar vector-borne disease transmission models.In the absence of such phenomenon(which is shown to arise due to the disease-induced mortality in the host populations),the nontrivial disease-free equilibrium of the model is shown to be globallyasymptotically stable when the associated reproduction number of the model is less than unity.Using case and demographic data relevant to ZVL dynamics in Arac atubamunicipality of Brazil,it is shown,for the default case when systemic insecticide-based drugs are not used to treat infected reservoir hosts,that the associated reproduction number of the model (ℛ0) ranges from 0.3 to 1.4,with a mean of ℛ0=0:85.Furthermore,when the effect of such drug treatment is explicitly incorporated in the model(i.e.,accounting for the additional larval and sandfly mortality,following feeding on the treated reservoirs),the range ofℛ0 decreases toℛ02∈[0.1,0.6],with a mean ofℛ0=0:35(this significantly increases the prospect of the effective control or eliminationof the disease).Thus,ZVL transmissionmodels(in communities where such treatment strategy is implemented)that do not explicitly incorporate the effect of such treatmentmay be over-estimating the disease burden(asmeasured in terms ofℛ0)in the community.It is shown thatℛ0 ismore sensitive to increases in sandflylifespanthan thatof the animal reservoir(so,a strategy that focuses on reducing sandflies,rather than the animal reservoir(e.g.,via culling),may be more effective in reducing ZVL burden in the community).Further sensitivity analysis of themodel ranks the sandfly removal rate(by natural death or by feeding from insecticide-treated reservoir hosts),the biting rate of sandflies on the reservoir hosts and the progression rate of exposed reservoirs to active ZVL as the three parameters with themost effect on the disease dynamics or burden(as measured in terms of the reproduction number ℛ0).Hence,this study identifies the key parameters that play a key role on the disease dynamics,and thereby contributing in the design of effective control strategies(that target the identified parameters).Nafiu Hussaini Kamaldeen Okuneye Abba B.Gumel 2017Infectious Disease Modelling2017,2,4:1

16Carbon sequestration rate,nitrogen use efficiency and rice yield responses to long-term substitution of chemical fertilizer by organic manure in a rice–rice cropping system显示文摘Combined application of chemical fertilizers with organic amendments was recommended as a strategy for improving yield,soil carbon storage,and nutrient use efficiency.However,how the long-term substitution of chemical fertilizer with organic manure affects rice yield,carbon sequestration rate(CSR),and nitrogen use efficiency(NUE)while ensuring environmental safety remains unclear.This study assessed the long-term effect of substituting chemical fertilizer with organic manure on rice yield,CSR,and NUE.It also determined the optimum substitution ratio in the acidic soil of southern China.The treatments were:(i)NPK0,unfertilized control;(ii)NPK1,100%chemical nitrogen,phosphorus,and potassium fertilizer;(iii)NPKM1,70%chemical NPK fertilizer and 30%organic manure;(iv)NPKM2,50%chemical NPK fertilizer and 50%organic manure;and(v)NPKM3,30%chemical NPK fertilizer and 70%organic manure.Milk vetch and pig manure were sources of manure for early and late rice seasons,respectively.The result showed that SOC content was higher in NPKM1,NPKM2,and NPKM3 treatments than in NPK0 and NPK1 treatments.The carbon sequestration rate increased by 140,160,and 280%under NPKM1,NPKM2,and NPKM3 treatments,respectively,compared to NPK1 treatment.Grain yield was 86.1,93.1,93.6,and 96.5%higher under NPK1,NPKM1,NPKM2,and NPKM3 treatments,respectively,compared to NPK0 treatment.The NUE in NPKM1,NPKM2,and NPKM3 treatments was higher as compared to NPK1 treatment for both rice seasons.Redundancy analysis revealed close positive relationships of CSR with C input,total N,soil C:N ratio,catalase,and humic acids,whereas NUE was closely related to grain yield,grain N content,and phenol oxidase.Furthermore,CSR and NUE negatively correlated with humin acid and soil C:P and N:P ratios.The technique for order of preference by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS)showed that NPKM3 treatment was the optimum strategy for improving CSR and NUE.Therefore,substituting 70%of chemical fertilizer with organic manure could be the best management option for increasing CSR and NUE in the paddy fields of southern China.Nafiu Garba HAYATU LIU Yi-ren HAN Tian-fu Nano Alemu DABA ZHANG Lu SHEN Zhe LI Ji-wen Haliru MUAZU Sobhi Faid LAMLOM ZHANG Hui-min 2023Journal of Integrative Agriculture2023,22,9:1

18Practice and patronage of traditional bonesetting in Ondo State,Nigeria显示文摘Objective:This study was carried out to investigate the determinants of the practice and patronage of traditional bonesetting(TBS)in a Local Government Area of Ondo State,Nigeria.Materials and Methods:A descriptive research design approach with purposive sampling technique was used.Data collection was through the use of two set of self-developed structured questionnaire(for bonesetters and clients).The study obtained data from eight traditional bonesetters and fifty-six inpatients receiving treatments in the bonesetters’homes across the study location.Results:Findings from the study showed that the major cause of fractures were road traffic accidents while low cost of treatment was the major influence for patronizing traditional bonesetters.The study also revealed that majority of the traditional bonesetters had little or no formal education.Among the sociodemographic characteristics of the participants,only occupation showed signification relationship with reasons for patronage of TBS homes(χ^(2)=28.164,P=0.036).Conclusion:The patronage of traditional bonesetters may be impossible to eradicate;thus,the study recommends the need for collaboration among traditional bonesetters and modern orthopedic practitioners through recognition and continuous training of the traditional bonesetters on appropriate management and referrals.Nafiu Fatihudeen OKORO Adeleke Araoye OJO Oluwaseyi Abiodun AKPOR Oghenerobor Benjamin AKPOR 2022Journal of Integrative Nursing2022,4,3:0
19Mathematical modeling and analysis of meningococcal meningitis transmission dynamics显示文摘Meningococcal meningitis(MCM)is one of the serious public health threats in the tropical and sub-tropical regions.In this paper,we propose an epidemic model to study the transmission dynamics of MCM with high-and low-risk susceptible populations.The model considers two different groups of susceptible individuals depending on the availability of medical resources(MR,including hospitals,health workers,etc.),which varies the infection risk.We find that the model exhibits the phenomenon of backward bifurcation(BB),which increases the difficulty of MCM control since the dynamics are not merely relying on the basic reproduction number,TZo.This study explores the effects of MR on the MCM epidemics by mathematical analysis and shows the existence of BB on MCM disease.Our findings suggest that providing adequate MR in a community is crucial in mitigating MCM incidences and deaths,especially,in the MCM endemic regions.Salihu Sabiu Musa Shi Zhao Nafiu Hussaini Abdulrazaq Carba Habib Daihai He 2020International Journal of Biomathematics2020,13,1:0
