1A Review of Modeling Approaches and Tools for the Off-design Simulation of Organic Rankine Cycle显示文摘Organic Rankine Cycles(ORCs) are an effective way to produce electricity from low-grade heat sources, which cannot be effectively obtained using conventional high-temperature Rankine cycles. Due to the lack of available information regarding the real Organic Rankine Cycle units on industrial level, off-design simulation under diversified operating conditions plays a significant role for both the system performance prediction and control strategy design. This paper summarizes the theoretical basis, modeling approaches and tools for ORC off-design simulations. Firstly, a review was conducted on the individual state-of-the-art convective heat transfer correlations and void fraction models. Secondly, different kinds of modeling approaches and simulation tools were proposed, highlighting their relevant characteristics, and were categorized for their specific applications. Moreover, an in-depth analysis of technical challenges related to various applications and focusing on the model accuracy and complexity, computational efficiency, as well as the model compatibility were extensively described and discussed. 2Effects of Panax notoginseng saponins in a rat model of Alzheimer's disease显示文摘BACKGROUND: Modern pharmacological studies have demonstrated that Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) can ameliorate and protect from neuropathological impairment. Whether PNS can improve the abnormality in memory and behavior of rats with Alzheimer's disease (AD) remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: Based on a Morris water maze test, this study aimed to measure improvements of spatial learning and memory by PNS in a rat model of AD, and to compare effects with huperzine A. DESIGN: A completely randomized grouping design, controlled animal experiment. SETTING: Center of Research & Development of New Drugs, Guangxi Traditional Chinese Medical University. MATERIALS: Ninety healthy Wistar rats of both genders, 15-month-old (n =75) and 3-month-old rats as young controls (n =15), were used for this study. The study was performed in accordance with animal ethics guidelines for the use and care of animals. PNS was provided by Weihe Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd (permission No. Z53021485, Yuxi, Yunan Province, China). Morris water maze equipment was provided by the Institute of Physiology, Chinese Academy of Science. METHODS: This study was performed at the Center of Research & Development of New Drugs, Guangxi Traditional Chinese Medical University from June 2003 to April 2005. Of the included rats, 15 healthy aged rats were randomly chosen as aged controls, and the remaining 60 aged rats were randomly divided into 4 groups with 15 rats in each: model group, PNS high- and low-dose groups, and an huperzine A group. Rats in the model group and the 3 treated groups were treated with intraperitoneal infusion of 9.6 g/L D-galactose (5 mL/kg) every day for 6 weeks successively to induce a subacute aging model. During week 7, animals received 1 μL ibotenic acid (5 g/L) bilaterally into the nucleus basalis of Meynert to create a rat model of AD. The young and old rat controls received, in parallel, a corresponding volume of saline. Two weeks later, rats in the PNS high- and low-dose groups were gavaged with 200 and 100 mg/kg PNS suspension, respectively. Huperzine A suspension (0.3 mg/kg) was used in the huperzine A group. Rats in the other 3 groups were gavaged with a corresponding volume of normal saline. In each group, administration was carried out once per day for 4 consecutive weeks. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: After administration, learning and memory abilities were measured by place navigation and spatial probe tests. Recording indices consisted of escape latency (time-to-platform), number of times to find the platform within 2 minutes, number of times the animal crosses the original platform location, and the percent of swimming time in each quadrant. RESULTS: Several rats died due to inflammatory reactions following brain lesion or intragastric administration; therefore, 61 rats were included in the final analysis. Results of spatial navigation test: Escape latency of rats in the model group was significantly prolonged, and number of times to find the platform within 2 minutes were significantly reduced compared with other groups (both P < 0.05). No significant differences in these two indices were measured among the administration groups (all P > 0.05). Results of spatial probe test: Times for crossing the original platform location and percent of time spent in the quadrant of original platform location were significantly less in the model group than in the other groups (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in these two indices among the administration groups (P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: PNS can remarkably improve spatial learning and memory abilities of rats with AD. 3Grazing exclusion-induced shifts,the relative importance of environmental filtering,biotic interactions and dispersal limitation in shaping desert steppe communities,northern China显示文摘Grazing exclusion is one of the most efficient approaches to restore degraded grassland but may negatively affects the recovery of species diversity. Changes in plant species diversity should be a consequence of the ecological assembly process. Local community assembly is influenced by environmental filtering, biotic interactions, and dispersal. However, how these factors potentially contribute to changes to species diversity is poorly understood, especially in harsh environments. In this study, two management sites within a Stipa breviflora desert steppe community(typical natural steppe) were selected in northern China. In one of the two management sites, grazing has been excluded since 2010 and in the other with open grazing by sheep. In August 2016, three plots were established and 100 sampling units were created within each plot in a 5 m×5 m area at the two management sites. To assess the effects of grazing exclusion on S. breviflora steppe, we analyzed the vegetation biomass, species diversity,soil organic carbon, and soil particle size distribution using paired T-tests. In addition, variation partitioning was applied to determine the relative importance of environmental filtering and dispersal limitation. Null mode analysis was used to quantify the influence of biotic interactions in conjunction with Eco Sim niche overlap and co-occurrence values. Our results demonstrated that(1) species diversity significantly decreased and the main improvements in soil quality occurred in the topsoil 0–10 cm after the grazing exclusion;(2) environmental filtering was important for community assembly between grazed and fenced grassland and this appears particularly true for soil particle size distribution, which may be well correlated with soil hydrological processes; and(3) however, competitive exclusion may play a significant role within the exclusion. The multiple pathways of assembly may collectively determine negative effects on the restoration of species diversity. Therefore, designers should be aware of the risk of reducing grazing exclusion-induced species diversity and account for manipulating processes. 10Feasibility of LTE-Based GEO Satellite Mobile Communication Systems to Support VoIP for Handheld Terminals显示文摘To facilitate the integration of terrestrial and satellite mobile communication systems in the future,the new generation of satellite mobile communication system should be Long-term evolution(LTE)-based.In LTE,voice is carried by Internet protocol(IP)packets(voice over IP,VoIP).The feasibility of LTEbased Geosynchronous earth orbit(GEO)satellite mobile communication systems for Vo IP is discussed.Detailed link budgets are created for typical handheld terminals.The effectiveness of Physical resource block(PRB)bundling and Transmission time interval(TTI)bundling for the capacity improvement of downlink and uplink are evaluated,and further uplink improvement for low level terminals by Narrowband resource block(NRB)scheme is also studied.The analysis results show that the downlink VoIP transmission is mainly power limited,and optimization of PRB or TTI bundling can maximize the capacity.For uplink,only highlevel terminals can support VoIP under the normal LTE frame structure,and TTI bundling and Resource block(RB)block techniques can help the low-level terminals support VoIP transmission.DING Dan GAO Zhen CHENG Naiping 2019Chinese Journal of Electronics2019,28,4:1

13Water utilization of typical plant communities in desert steppe,China显示文摘Water is a limiting factor in the restoration and construction of desert steppe.Exploring plant water sources is necessary to understand soil-plant interactions and species coexistence;however,water sources of major plant communities within the desert steppe of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region,China remain poorly understood.In this study,we analyzed the water uptake of plants in four typical communities:Agropyron mongolicum Keng.;Sophora alopecuroids Linn.;Stipa breviflora Griseb.,and Achnatherum splendens(Trin.)Nevski communities.Stable isotopesδD andδ^(18)O in the xylem of plant and soil water at different soil depths were analyzed.An IsoSource model was used to determine the soil depths from which plants obtained water.Results showed that A.mongolicum community obtained water predominantly from 0–20 and 40–80 cm depth,S.alopecuroids community from 0–20 cm depth,S.breviflora community from 0–40 cm depth,and A.splendens community from 0–20 and 80–140 cm depths.S.alopecuroides had a wider range of soil depths for water extraction,i.e.,utilizing different water sources depending on habitat,and the plasticity of its water uptake pattern determined its role in different communities.Water source of plants relayed heavily on the distribution of their roots.Competition for soil water exists between different plant life forms in the sierozem habitat(A.mongolicum,S.alopecuroids,and S.breviflora communities),and in the sandy soil habitat(A.splendens community).The use of soil water by A.splendens community is more spatially differentiated,and shrubs and herbs can coexist stably.Under the pattern of extended drought period in the future,sierozem habitat may be more favorable for the formation of a dominant monoculture community type of perennial fibrous plants.In aeolian sandy soil habitat,A.splendens had a strong competitive advantage,and the growth of shallow-rooted plants was easily suppressed.CHEN Juan WANG Xing SONG Naiping WANG Qixue WU Xudong 2022Journal of Arid Land2022,14,9:1

17A study of the chemical composition and transport of marine aerosols over the ocean near China显示文摘In this paper the authors cite the aerosol samples collected with a KA-200 Anderson cascade Impactor and a KB-120 sampler during the first cruise of the Kuroshio investigation operated by the People’s Republic of China and Japan cooperative program, from July 23 to August 21, 1987. The concentration size distributions and composition of marine aerosols over the Kuroshio area are analyzed. Neutron activation analysis is used to determine the elemental composition of the aerosols. The authors also discuss some characteristics of marine aerosols relating to long-range transport of crustal and anthropogenic elements from the continent to the remote ocean. Analytical results indicate that elements Al, Fe, Sc and Sb over this area are obviously influenced by the continent of Asia, and the size distributions are changed after long-range transport. The concentration of large particles increase. The concentrations of the elements C1 and Na are closely related to ocean conditions; the source of the elements ClZhang Ni, Zhou Mingyu, Lu Naiping, F.
