1Caffeine therapy in preterm infants显示文摘Caffeine is the most commonly used medication for treatment of apnea of prematurity. Its effect has been well established in reducing the frequency of apnea, intermittent hypoxemia, and extubation failure in mechanically ventilated preterm infants. Evidence for additional short-term benefits on reducing the incidence of bronchopulmonary dysplasia and patent ductus arteriosus has also been suggested. Controversies existamong various neonatal intensive care units in terms of drug efficacy compared to other methylxanthines, dosage regimen, time of initiation, duration of therapy, drug safety and value of therapeutic drug monitoring. 2Biofilm formation in clinical isolates of nosocomial Acinetobacter baumannii and its relationship with multidrug resistance显示文摘Objective: To check biofilm formation by Acinetobacter baumannii(A. baumannii)clinical isolates and show their susceptibility to different antibiotics and investigate a possible link between establishment of biofilm and multidrug resistance.Methods: This study was performed on clinical samples collected from patients with nosocomial infections in three hospitals of Tehran. Samples were initially screened by culture and biochemical tests for the presence of different species of Acinetobacter. Identifications were further confirmed by PCR assays. Their susceptibilities to 11 antibiotics of different classes were determined by disc diffusion method according to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. The ability to produce biofilm was investigated using methods: culture on Congo red agar, microtiter plate, and test tube method.Results: From the overall clinical samples, 156 specimens were confirmed to contain A. baumannii. The bacteria were highly resistant to most antibiotics except polymyxin B.Of these isolates, 10.26% were able to produce biofilms as shown on Congo red agar.However, the percentage of bacteria with positive biofilm in test tube, standard microtiter plate, and modified microtiter plate assays were 48.72%, 66.66%, and 73.72%, respectively. At least 92% of the biofilm forming isolates were multidrug resistant.Conclusions: Since most of the multidrug resistant strains produce biofilm, it seems necessary to provide continuous monitoring and determination of antibiotic susceptibility of clinical A. baumannii. 5An Open Platform for Processing IFC Model Versions显示文摘The IFC initiative from the International Alliance of Interoperability has been developing since the mid-nineties through several versions. This paper addresses the problem of binding the growing number of IFC versions and their EXPRESS definitions to programming environments (Java and .NET). The solution developed in this paper automates the process of generating early binding classes, whenever a new version of the IFC model is released. Furthermore, a runtime instantiation of the generated early binding classes takes place by importing IFC-STEP ISO 10303-P21 models. The user can navigate the IFC STEP model with relevance to the defining EXPRESS-schema, modify, delete, and create new instances. These functionalities are considered to be a basis for any IFC based implementation. 11CSF total and oligomeric α-Synuclein along with TNF-α as risk biomarkers for Parkinson’s disease: a study in LRRK2 mutation carriers显示文摘Background Asymptomatic carriers of leucine-rich repeat kinase 2(LRRK2)gene mutations constitute an ideal population for discovering prodromal biomarkers of Parkinson’s disease(PD).In this study,we aim to identify CSF candidate risk biomarkers of PD in individuals with LRRK2 mutation carriers.Methods We measured the levels of CSF total-(t-),oligomeric(o-)and phosphorylated S129(pS129-)α-syn,total-tau(tTau),phosphorylated threonine 181 tau(pTau),amyloid-beta 40(Aβ-40),amyloid-beta-42(Aβ-42)and 40 inflammatory chemokines in symptomatic(n=23)and asymptomatic(n=51)LRRK2 mutation carriers,subjects with a clinical diagnosis of PD(n=60)and age-matched healthy controls(n=34).General linear models corrected for age and gender were performed to assess differences in CSF biomarkers between the groups.Markers that varied significantly between the groups were then analyzed using backward-elimination logistic regression analysis to identify an ideal biomarkers panel of prodromal PD.Results Discriminant function analysis revealed low levels of CSF t-α-syn,high levels of CSF o-α-syn and TNF-αbest discriminated asymptomatic LRRK2 mutation carriers from both symptomatic PD and healthy controls.Assessing the discriminative power using receiver operating curve analysis,an area under the curve>0.80 was generated.Conclusions The current study suggests that CSF t-,o-α-syn and TNF-αare candidate risk biomarkers for the detection of PD at the prodromal stage.Our findings also highlight the dynamic interrelationships between CSF proteins and the importance of using a biomarkers’panel approach for an accurate and timely diagnosis of PD.Nour K.Majbour Jan O.Aasly Eldbjørg Hustad Mercy A.Thomas Nishant N.Vaikath Naser Elkum Wilma D.Jvan de Berg Takahiko Tokuda Brit Mollenhauer Henk W.Berendse Omar M.A.El-Agnaf 2020Translational Neurodegeneration2020,9,2:2

13Enhancing IoT anomaly detection performance for federated learning显示文摘Federated Learning (FL) with mobile computing and the Internet of Things (IoT) is an effective cooperative learning approach. However, several technical challenges still need to be addressed. For instance, dividing the training process among several devices may impact the performance of Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, often significantly degrading prediction accuracy compared to centralized learning. One of the primary reasons for such performance degradation is that each device can access only a small fraction of data (that it generates), which limits the efficacy of the local ML model constructed on that device. The performance degradation could be exacerbated when the participating devices produce different classes of events, which is known as the class balance problem. Moreover, if the participating devices are of different types, each device may never observe the same types of events, which leads to the device heterogeneity problem. In this study, we investigate how data augmentation can be applied to address these challenges and improving detection performance in an anomaly detection task using IoT datasets. Our extensive experimental results with three publicly accessible IoT datasets show the performance improvement of up to 22.9% with the approach of data augmentation, compared to the baseline (without relying on data augmentation). 14Decline of oil prices and the negative interest rate policy in Japan显示文摘In April 2013,the Bank of Japan(BOJ)introduced an inflation target of 2%with the aim of overcoming deflation and achieving sustainable economic growth.But due to lower international oil prices it was unable to achieve this target and was forced to take further measures.Hence,in February 2016,the BOJ adopted a negative interest rate policy by massively increasing the money supply through the purchase of long-term Japanese government bonds(JGB).The BOJ had previously only purchased short-term government bonds,a policy that flattened the yield curve of JGBs.On the one hand,banks reduced the number of government bonds they purchased because short-term bond yields had become negative.The interest rates of long-term government bond up to 15 years even became negative.On the other hand,bank loans to corporates did not increase,due to Japanese economy’s vertical investment-saving(IS)curve.The purpose of this paper is to show that the monetary policy through implementation of the zero interest rate and more recently through the negative interest rate could not help the Japanese economy to recover from the long-lasting recession and these are not the remedy.It is of key importance to make the IS curve downward rather than vertical.That means the rate of return on investment must be positive and companies must be willing to invest even if interest rates are set too low.Japan’s long-term recession is due to structural problems that cannot be solved by its current monetary policy.The paper also explains why the BOJ has to reduce its 2%inflation target in the present low oil price era.Naoyuki Yoshino Farhad Taghizadeh-Hesary Nour Tawk 2017Economic and Political Studies2017,5,2:2
15The cellular microenvironment and cytoskeletal actin dynamics in liver fibrogenesis显示文摘Hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)are the primary effector cells in liver fibrosis.In the normal liver,HSCs serve as the primary vitamin A storage cells in the body and retain a“quiescent”phenotype.However,after liver injury,they transdifferentiate to an“activated”myofibroblast-like phenotype,which is associated with dramatic upregulation of smooth muscle specific actin and extracellular matrix proteins.The result is a fibrotic,stiff,and dysfunctional liver.Therefore,understanding the molecular mechanisms that govern HSC function is essential for the development of anti-fibrotic medications.The actin cytoskeleton has emerged as a key component of the fibrogenic response in wound healing.Recent data indicate that the cytoskeleton receives signals from the cellular microenvironment and translates them to cellular function—in particular,increased type I collagen expression.Dynamic in nature,the actin cytoskeleton continuously polymerizes and depolymerizes in response to changes in the cellular microenvironment.In this viewpoint,we discuss the recent developments underlying cytoskeletal actin dynamics in liver fibrosis,including how the cellular microenvironment affects HSC function and the molecular mechanisms that regulate the actininduced increase in collagen expression typical of activated HSCs.NOUR HIJAZI DON C.ROCKEY ZENGDUN SHI 2022BIOCELL2022,46,9:2
