1Effect of compressibility on the hypervelocity penetration显示文摘We further consider the effect of rod strength by employing the compressible penetration model to study the effect of compressibility on hypervelocity penetration.Meanwhile, we define different instances of penetration efficiency in various modified models and compare these penetration efficiencies to identify the effects of different factors in the compressible model. To systematically discuss the effect of compressibility in different metallic rod-target combinations, we construct three cases, i.e., the penetrations by the more compressible rod into the less compressible target, rod into the analogously compressible target, and the less compressible rod into the more compressible target. The effects of volumetric strain, internal energy, and strength on the penetration efficiency are analyzed simultaneously. It indicates that the compressibility of the rod and target increases the pressure at the rod/target interface. The more compressible rod/target has larger volumetric strain and higher internal energy. Both the larger volumetric strain and higher strength enhance the penetration or anti-penetration ability. On the other hand, the higher internal energy weakens the penetration or anti-penetration ability. The two trends conflict, but the volumetric strain dominates in the variation of the penetration efficiency, which would not approach the hydrodynamic limit if the rod and target are not analogously compressible. 4PD173074, a selective FGFR inhibitor, reverses MRP7 (ABCC10)-mediated MDR显示文摘Multidrug resistance protein 7(MRP7,ABCC10)is a recently identified member of the ATP-binding cassette(ABC)transporter family,which adequately confers resistance to a diverse group of antineoplastic agents,including taxanes,vinca alkaloids and nucleoside analogs among others.Clinical studies indicate an increased MRP7 expression in non-small cell lung carcinomas(NSCLC)compared to a normal healthy lung tissue.Recent studies revealed increased paclitaxel sensitivity in the Mrp7^(-/-)mouse model compared to their wild-type counterparts.This demonstrates that MRP7 is a key contributor in developing drug resistance.Recently our group reported that PD173074,a specific fibroblast growth factor receptor(FGFR)inhibitor,could significantly reverse P-glycoprotein-mediated MDR.However,whether PD173074 can interact with and inhibit other MRP members is unknown.In the present study,we investigated the ability of PD173074 to reverse MRP7-mediated MDR.We found that PD173074,at non-toxic concentration,could significantly increase the cellular sensitivity to MRP7 substrates.Mechanistic studies indicated that PD173074(1μmol/L)significantly increased the intracellular accumulation and in-turn decreased the efflux of paclitaxel by inhibiting the transport activity without altering expression levels of the MRP7 protein,thereby representing a promising therapeutic agent in the clinical treatment of chemoresistant cancer patients.Nagaraju Anreddy Atish Patel Kamlesh Sodani Rishil J.Kathawala Eugenie P.Chen John N.D.Wurpel Zhe-Sheng Chen 2014Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2014,4,3:2

11Enhancing the graphene photocurrent using surface plasmons and a p-n junction显示文摘The recently proposed concept of graphene photodetectors offers remarkable properties such as unprecedented compactness,ultrabroadband detection,and an ultrafast response speed.However,owing to the low optical absorption of pristine monolayer graphene,the intrinsically low responsivity of graphene photodetectors significantly hinders the development of practical devices.To address this issue,numerous efforts have thus far been made to enhance the light–graphene interaction using plasmonic structures.These approaches,however,can be significantly advanced by leveraging the other critical aspect of graphene photoresponsivity enhancement-electrical junction control.It has been reported that the dominant photocarrier generation mechanism in graphene is the photothermoelectric(PTE)effect.Thus,the two energy conversion mechanisms involved in the graphene photodetection process are light-to-heat and heat-to-electricity conversions.In this work,we propose a meticulously designed device architecture to simultaneously enhance the two conversion efficiencies.Specifically,a gap plasmon structure is used to absorb a major portion of the incident light to induce localized heating,and a pair of split gates is used to produce a p-n junction in graphene to augment the PTE current generation.The gap plasmon structure and the split gates are designed to share common key components so that the proposed device architecture concurrently realizes both optical and electrical enhancements.We experimentally demonstrate the dominance of the PTE effect in graphene photocurrent generation and observe a 25-fold increase in the generated photocurrent compared to the un-enhanced cases.While further photocurrent enhancement can be achieved by applying a DC bias,the proposed device concept shows vast potential for practical applications.Di Wang Andres E.Llacsahuanga Allcca Ting-Fung Chung Alexander V.Kildishev Yong P.Chen Alexandra Boltasseva Vladimir M.Shalaev 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:1

17An efficient SPH methodology for modelling mechanical characteristics of particulate composites显示文摘Particulate composites are one of the widely used materials in producing numerous state-of-the-art components in biomedical,automobile,aerospace including defence technology.Variety of modelling techniques have been adopted in the past to model mechanical behaviour of particulate composites.Due to their favourable properties,particle-based methods provide a convenient platform to model failure or fracture of these composites.Smooth particle hydrodynamics(SPH)is one of such methods which demonstrate excellent potential for modelling failure or fracture of particulate composites in a Lagrangian setting.One of the major challenges in using SPH method for modelling composite materials depends on accurate and efficient way to treat interface and boundary conditions.In this paper,a masterslave method based multi-freedom constraints is proposed to impose essential boundary conditions and interfacial displacement constraints in modelling mechanical behaviour of composite materials using SPH method.The proposed methodology enforces the above constraints more accurately and requires only smaller condition number for system stiffness matrix than the procedures based on typical penalty function approach.A minimum cut-off value-based error criteria is employed to improve the computational efficiency of the proposed methodology.In addition,the proposed method is further enhanced by adopting a modified numerical interpolation scheme along the boundary to increase the accuracy and computational efficiency.The numerical examples demonstrate that the proposed master-slave approach yields better accuracy in enforcing displacement constraints and requires approximately the same computational time as that of penalty method.Z.J.Zheng S.Kulasegaram P.Chen Y.Q.Chen 2021Defence Technology(防务技术)2021,17,1:1
