| 14 | Buccal administration of mucoadhesive blend films saturated with propranolol loaded nanoparticles显示文摘The aims of this study were to prepare and characterize hydroxypropyl methylcellulose(HPMC)/polycarbophil(PC) mucoadhesive blend films saturated with propranolol hydrochloride(PNL)-loaded nanoparticles to improve permeability of drugs that undergo firstpass metabolism. An ionic cross-linking method and film casting technique was used to prepare nanoparticles and mucoadhesive blend films, respectively. Increasing concentrations of PNL(70, 80, 90 mg/film) in HPMC/PC blend films containing PNL-loaded nanoparticles(PN-films) and HPMC/PC blend films containing PNL(80 mg/film) without nanoparticles(PPfilms) were prepared to test swelling, mucoadhesiveness, release, permeation and physicochemical properties. Scanning electron microscope(SEM) images showed a partially smooth surface with a wrinkled occurrence and spherically shaped, well-dispersed nanoparticles on the surface of PN-films containing PNL 80 mg/film(PN-films-80). The size of the nanoparticles on the surface of PN-films-80 was around 100 nm, which was similar to the nanoparticle size observed using light scattering technique. The swelling index(SI)of all PN-films and PP-films increased greatly in the first period time(10–20 min) and reached swelling equilibrium at 20 min and 30 min, respectively. For the PN-films, the concentration of PNL influenced the mucoadhesive properties and tended to be higher when the amount of PNL increased. Immediate release of all blend film formulations was found in early time points(10–30 min). After 120 min, the release of PN-films-70 was lower than the other PNfilms. Permeation studies using porcine buccal mucosa showed that inclusion of nanoparticles in the films increased the permeability of PNL compared to PP-films. | 16 | Multi-function adsorbent-photocatalyst MXene-TiO_(2) composites for removal of enrofloxacin antibiotic from water显示文摘MXenes,a new family of two-dimensional transition metal carbides or nitrides,have attracted tremendous attention for various applications due to their unique properties such as good electrical conductivity,hydrophilicity,and ion intercalability.In this work,Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene,or MX,is converted to MX-TiO_(2) composites using a simple and rapid microwave hydrothermal treatment in HCl/NaCl mixture solution that induces formation of fine TiO_(2) particles on the MX parent structure and imparts photocatalytic activity to the resulting MX-TiO_(2) composites.The composites were used for enrofloxacin(ENR),a frequently found contaminating antibiotic,removal from water.The relative amount of the MX and TiO_(2) can be controlled by controlling the hydrothermal temperature resulting in composites with tunable adsorption/photocatalytic properties.NaCl addition was found to play important role as composites synthesized without NaCl could not adsorb enrofloxacin well.Adding NaCl into the hydrothermal treatment causes sodium ions to be simultaneously intercalated into the composite structure,improving ENR adsorption greatly from 1 to 6 mg ENR/g composite.It also slows down the MX to TiO2 conversion leading to a smaller and more uniform distribution of TiO_(2) particles on the structure.MX-TiO_(2)/NaCl composites,which have sodium intercalated in their structures,showed both higher ENR adsorption and photocatalytic activity than composites without NaCl despite the latter having higher TiO2 content.Adsorbed ENR on the composites can be efficiently degraded by free radicals generated from the photoexcited TiO2 particles,leading to high photocatalytic degradation efficiency.This demonstrates the synergetic effect between adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of the synthesized compounds. | Siwanat Sukidpaneenid Chamorn Chawengkijwanich Chonlada Pokhum Toshihiro Isobe Pakorn Opaprakasit Paiboon Sreearunothai | 2023 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,2: | 1 |
| 17 | A High Speed Autofocusing System for Micro System Applications显示文摘In this paper,we present a high speed autofocus system for micro system applications and design a look-up-table based autofocusing algorithm for applications when a target object is always visible,e.g.,manufacturing parts with alignment fiducials.We perform an evaluation of 24 focus measures to verify that which focus measure is the best for the look-up-table based method.From the evaluation,we find that the Chebyshev moments-based focus measure(CHEB) is the most suitable.Furthermore,we also develop a look-up-table based autofocus system that uses CHEB as the focus measure.In training phase,we offline construct a table from training images of an object that are captured at several lens distances.Each entry of table consists of focus measure computed from image and lens distance.In working phase,given an input image,the algorithm first computes the focus measure and then finds the best match focus measure from the table and looks up the corresponding lens position for moving it into the in-focus position.Our algorithm can perform autofocusing within only 2 steps of lens moving.The experiment shows that the system can perform high speed autofocusing of micro objects. | Phuchong Sripolsaen Pradit Mittrapiyanuruk Pakorn Keawtrakulpong | 2016 | Journal of Electronic Science and Technology2016,14,1: | 0 |
| 18 | Modeling temperature and moisture dependent emissions of carbon dioxide and methane from drying dairy cow manure显示文摘Greenhouse gas emissions due to biological degradation processes of animal wastes are significant sources of air pollution from agricultural areas. The major environmental controls on these microbe-induced gas fluxes are temperature and moisture content. The objective of this study was to model the effects of temperature and moisture content on emissions of CO2 and CH4 during the ambient drying process of dairy manure under controlled conditions. Gas emissions were continuously recorded over 15 d with paired fully automated closed dynamic chambers coupled with a Fourier Transformed Infrared gas analyzer. Water content and temperature were measured and monitored with capacitance sensors. In addition, on days 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15, p H, moisture content, dissolved organic carbon and total carbon(TC) were determined. An empirical model derived from the Arrhenius equation confirmed high dependency of carbon emissions on temperature and moisture content.
