1Late Holocene mangrove development and response to sea level change in the northwestern South China Sea显示文摘Mangroves,widely distributed along the coasts of tropical China,are influenced by Asia monsoon,relative sea level change and enhanced human activity.To predict the impacts of future climate change on mangrove ecosystems,it can be understood by reconstructing past mangrove dynamics using proxies preserved in coastal sediments.In this study,we quantitatively partitioned buried organic matter(OM)sources,collected from a vulnerable mangrove swamp in the Qinzhou Bay of northwestern South China Sea,using a ternary end-member mixing model of δ^13C and C:N values.Mangrove-derived OM(MOM)contribution was used as a tracer for mangrove development since 2.34 cal ka BP.This information,together with paleoclimate records(i.e.,speleothem δ^18O values,sea level change,grain size parameters)and human activity,was used to divide mangrove development into three stages during the late Holocene:relative flourish(2.34-1.13 cal ka BP),relative degradation(1.13-0.15 cal ka BP)and further degradation(0.15-0 cal ka BP).Before 1.13 cal ka BP,mangroves flourished with a high MOM contribution((88.9±10.6)%),corresponding to stable and high sea level under a warm and humid climate.After 1.13 cal ka BP,rapid fall in relative sea level coupled with the strengthening of the Asian winter monsoon,resulted in mangrove degradation and MOM reduction((62.4±18.9)%).Compared with air temperature and precipitation,the relative sea level fall was the main controlling factor in mangrove development before entering the Anthropocene(the time of the Industrial Revolution).After^150 cal a BP,reclamation of mangrove swamps to shrimp ponds is the main factor causing mangrove degradation and MOM reduction.Peng Xia Xianwei Meng Zhen Li Pengyao Zhi Mengwei Zhao Enkang Wang 2019Acta Oceanologica Sinica2019,38,11:4

3Shear Wave Speed Dispersion Characteristics of Seafloor Sediments in the Northern South China Sea显示文摘To accurately characterize the shear wave speed dispersion of seafloor sediments in the northern South China Sea,five types of sediments including silty clay,clayey silt,sandy silt,silty sand,and clayey sand were selected,on which the measurements of the shear wave speed at 0.5-2.0 kHz and related physical properties were performed.Results reveal that the shear wave speed of sediments increases as the frequency increases,and the dispersion enhanced in the sediments in the order of silty clay,clayey silt,sandy silt,silty sand,and clayey sand,at a linear change rate of 0.727,0.787,3.32,4.893,and 6.967 m s−1 kHz−1,respectively.Through regression analysis,linear and logarithmic regression equations for the correlation between shear wave speed and frequency were established for each sediment type and the determination coefficients of regression equations indicate that the correlation is closer to a logarithmic relationship.The Grain-Shearing(GS)and Biot-Stoll models were used to calculate the shear wave speed dispersion of the five sediment types,and the comparison between theoretical prediction and measured results of shear wave speeds shows that the GS model can more accurately describe the shear wave speed dispersion characteristics of these sediments in the frequency band of 0.5-2.0 kHz.In the same band,the predictions obtained by using the Biot-Stoll model are significantly different from the measured data.KAN Guangming MENG Xiangmei WANG Jingqiang CAO Guolin LI Guanbao LIU Baohua ZHI Pengyao 2022Journal of Ocean University of China2022,21,1:1

5Distorted aryl homochirality controlled byβ-sheet folding显示文摘Distortion of planar aromatics occurs in the fused rings conjugated with bulky substituents,which generates racemic enantiomers with high transformation energy barriers.However,direct synthesis of homochiral distorted aryl compounds is a very challenging task.Here,we presented a molecular folding strategy to control distorted aryl homochirality.Amino acids and their derivatives conjugated on the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons including benzenes,naphthalenes and triphenylenes,which formed parallelβ-sheet arrays through intramolecular hydrogen bonds.The folding behavior enabled distorted or twisted geometry of aromatics,of which the handedness was associated with the absolute chirality of amino acids.X-ray crystallography,theoretical calculations and circular dichroism spectroscopy verified the distorted homochirality in the solid and solution phase.The relatively small rotational barrier between the enantiomers made the molecule sensitive to the environment and thus realized the solvent-controlled chiral inversion.Theβ-sheet folding strategy can be widely used in polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with various functions,which provided a promising strategy to control inherent chirality of aromatics with adaptive chiroptical responses.Yunying Xu Aiyou Hao Pengyao Xing 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,11:0
6Polyfunctional Conjugated Microporous Polymers for Applications in Direct C—H Arylation of Unactivated Arenes and Aqueous Adsorption of Aromatic Amines显示文摘Salen-porphyrin-based conjugated microporous polymers(CMPs)have been demonstrated to be an attractive material platform for predesigned structures and promising applications.Herein,a new salen-porphyrin-based conjugated microporous polymer(SP-CMP-L)was solvothermally prepared by porphyrin-forming condensation reaction of pyrrole and salen-dialdehyde derivative.The SP-CMP-L was characterized by spectroscopy technologies,and also exhibited excellent thermal and chemical stability.The porosity of SP-CMP-L was examined by N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms.The BET specific surface area of the CMP material was calculated to be 290.4 m^2/g with the pore volume of 0.19 cm^3/g.The microstructure property of the resulting material was further evaculated by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The SP-CMP-L with salen and porphyrin multidentate coordination sites was proposed to serve as an initiator to promote the cross-coupling between aryl halides with unactivated arenes under base mediated conditions.The transition-metal-free catalytic protocol provided high catalytic activity for direct C-H arylation reaction of unactivated arenes,and thus offered a convenient and efficient alternative for the construction biaryl scaffolds.In addition,the salen-porphyrin based CMP material possessed remarkable adsorption capability for the removal of organic amines from water.LUO Kexin SU Qing JU Pengyao LI Xiaodong LIU Ziqian SUN Xiaoman LI Guanghua WU Qiaolin 2020Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2020,36,6:0
7Interfacial oxidized Pd species dominate catalytic hydrogenation of polar unsaturated bonds显示文摘The determination of catalytically active sites is crucial for the design of efficient and stable catalysts toward desired reactions.However,the complexity of supported noble metal catalysts has led to controversy over the locations of catalytically active sites(e.g.,metal,support,and metal/support interface).Here we develop a structurally controllable catalyst system(Pd/SBA-15)to reveal the catalytic active sites for the selective hydrogenation of ketones to alcohol using acetophenone hydrogenation as model reaction.Systematic investigations demonstrated that unsupported Pd nanocrystals have no catalytic activity for acetophenone hydrogenation.However,oxidized Pd species were catalytically highly active for acetophenone hydrogenation.The catalytic activity decreased with the decreased oxidation state of Pd.This work provides insights into the hydrogenation mechanism of ketones but also other unsaturated compounds containing polar bonds,e.g.,nitrobenzene,N-benzylidene-benzylamine,and carbon dioxide.Pengyao You Shaoqi Zhan Pengpeng Ruan Ruixuan Qin Shiguang Mo Yazhou Zhang Kunlong Liu Lansun Zheng Nanfeng Zheng 2024Nano Research2024,17,1:0

9Hepatocyte growth factor-induced proliferation of hepatic stem-like cells depends on activation of NF-κB显示文摘Background/Aims: Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) regulates proliferation of hepatic stem cells. Transcription factor nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) has been demonstrated as a key mediator for cell growth regulation. We investigated the role of NF-κB in HGF-mediated cellular proliferation responses in a rat liver.derived hepatic stem-like cell line WB.F344. Methods: Cell proliferation was determined by incorporation of [^3H]thymidine. Phosphorylation of ERK1/2, p38 MAPK, Akt and IκBα by HGF stimulation was detected by Western blotting. NF-κB activation was determined by electrophoretic mobility shift assay and NF-κB.mediated SEAP reporter assay. NF-κB activation was inhibited by treatment with an IκBα dominant-negative vector or inhibitor BAY-11-7082. Results: We found that stimulation of WB-F344 cells with HGF promoted cell proliferation and effectively protected WB-F344 cells from apoptosis induced by TNF-α. We also observed activation of ERK1/2, p38 MAPK, Akt and NF-κB signaling pathways by HGF in WB-F344 cells. HGF-induced cell proliferation was partly blocked by pre-treatment of the cells with inhibitors against MEK1 or p38 MAPK, and completely blocked using an inhibitor for NF-κB activity.Furthermore, it was demonstrated that IκB mutant that suppressed NF-κB activity completely blocked HGF-induced cell proliferation. 10Effective Elastic Thickness of the Lithosphere in the Mariana Subduction Zone and Surrounding Regions and Its Implications for Their Tectonics显示文摘To understand the rheology,structure,and tectonics of the lithosphere in the Mariana subduction zone and surrounding regions,we calculated the effective elastic thickness of the lithosphere(Te)in these areas using the improved moving window admittance technique(MWAT)method.We find that smaller data grid spacing can better reflect Te variations in the subduction zone.The Te of the study region ranges from 0 to 47 km.The Te is reduced from 40 km on the seaward side of the outer-rise region to 1-2 km along the trench axis.The lithospheric breaking distance from the trench axis ranges from 0 to 250 km.We suggest that the intermediate Te values in seamounts and high Te values on the seaward side of the outer-rise region respectively reflect the‘fossil’rheological state and current lithospheric strength of the Pacific plate.The faulting induced by the downward bending of subducting plate not only ruptures the lithosphere but also contributes to the mantle serpentinization,significantly reducing the lithospheric strength.The largest breaking distance of the Ogasawara Plateau may be due to the increase in the mass load of the subducting plate in the Ogasawara Plateau and the significant horizontal bending force in the plate caused by the resistance of seamounts to subduction.Furthermore,a good positive correlation exists between the breaking distance and subduction dip angle along the trench axis.We suggest that the subducting plate with a larger breaking distance is likely to form a larger subduction angle.LING Zilong ZHAO Lihong WU Zhaocai ZHI Pengyao DING Renwei 2022Journal of Ocean University of China2022,21,4:0
11Helical secondary structures and supramolecular tilted chirality in N-terminal aryl amino acids with diversified optical activities显示文摘Helix structures at atomic/molecular level have not been found in self-assembled peptide seque nce with less than three residues.Asβ-sheet supramolecular secondary structures have been discovered in solidstate amino acids,we here report the conjugation of simple N-terminal aryl protecting group could give rise to helical supramolecular secondary structures in solid-state,which determines the optical activities of the adjacent aryl groups.The carboxylic acid-involved asymmetric H-bonds in N-te rminal aryl amino acids induce the emergence of super-helical structures of amino acid residues and aryl groups.In most cases,supramolecular tilted chirality of aryl groups is opposite to that of amino acid sequences,of which handedness and helical pitch are determined by the H-bond modalities.Determining correlation between supramolecular tilted chirality of aryl segments and their chiroptical activities is firstly unveiled,which was verified by the computational results based on density functional theory.Most aryl amino acids self-assembled by nanoprecipitation method via crystallization induced self-assembly into rigid one-dimensional microstructures with ultra-high Young's modulus.This study reveals the generic existence of chiral supramolecular structure s in aggregated amino acid derivatives and gives an in-depth investigation into the structural-property relationships,which could guide the rational design and screening of chiroptical supramolecular materials.Zhuoer Wang Aiyou Hao Pengyao Xing 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,4:0
12Fmoc-protected amino acids as luminescent and circularly polarized luminescence materials based on charge transfer interaction显示文摘Fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl(Fmoc)-protected amino acids are effective building blocks in self-assembled architectures at hierarchical levels,which however show limited luminescent properties and chiroptical activities.Here we introduce a charge-transfer strategy to build two-component luminescent materials with emerged circularly polarized luminescence properties.A library of Fmoc-amino acids was built,which selectively form charge-transfer complexes with the electron-deficient acceptor.Embedding in amorphous polymer matrix or physical grinding could trigger the charge-transfer luminescence with adjusted wavelengths in a general manner.X-ray diffraction results suggest the multiple binding modes between donor and acceptor.And,the solution-processed coassembly could selectively exhibit circularly polarized luminescence with high dissymmetry g-factors.This work illustrates a noncovalent charge-transfer strategy to construct luminescent and chiroptical organic composites based on the easy-accessible and economic chiral N-terminal aromatic amino acids.Yiran Xia Aiyou Hao Pengyao Xing 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,11:0
