1TREATMENT OF METALS, POLYMER FILMS, AND FABRICS WITHA ONE ATMOSPHERE UNIFORM GLOW DISCHARGE PLASMA(OAUGDP) FOR INCREASED SURFACE ENERGY AND DIRECTIONAL ETCHING显示文摘Direct exposure of samples to the active species of air generated by a One Atmosphere Uniform Glow Discharge Plasma (OAUGDP) has been used to etch and to increase the surface energy of metallic surfaces, photoresist, polymer films, and nonwoven fab- rics. The OAUGDP is a non-thermal plasma with the classical characteristics of a DC normal glow discharge that operates in air (and other gases) at atmospheric pres- sure. Neither a vacuum system nor batch processing is necessary. A wide range of applications to metals, photoresist, films, fabrics, and polymeric webs can be accom- modated by direct exposure of the workpiece to the plasma in parallel-plate reactors. This technolopy is simple, it produces effects that can be obtained in no other way at one atmosphere; it generates minimal pollutants or unwanted by-products; and it is suitable for individual sample or online treatment of metallic surfaces, wafers, films, and fabrics. Early exposures of solid materials to the OAUGDP required minutes to produce rela- tively small increases of surface energy. These durations appeared too long for com- mercial application to fast-moving webs. Recent improvements in OAUGDP gas com- position, power density, plasma quality, recireulating gas flow, and impedance match- ing of the power supply to the parallel plate plasma reactor have made it possible to raise the surface energy of a variety of polymeric webs (PP, PET PE etc.) to levels of 60 to 70 dynes/cm with one second of exposure. In air plasmas, the high surface ener- gies are not durable, and fall to 50 dynes/cm after periods of weeks to months. Here, we report the exposure of metallic surfaces, photoresist, polymeric films, and nonwo- ven fabrics made of PP and PET to an impedance matched parallel plate OAUGDP for durations ranging from one second to several tens of seconds. Data will be re- ported on the surface energy, wettability, wickability, and aging effect of polymeric films and fabrics as functions of time of exposure, and time after exposure; the rate and uniformity of photoresist etching; and the production of sub-micron structures by OAUGDP etching at one atmosphere.J. 2Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using a double bundle hamstring autograft configuration in patients under 30 years显示文摘BACKGROUND Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction(ACLR)has a high incidence of re-tear in younger patients.Despite comparable functional outcomes,the incidence of retear using single and double bundle ACLR methods has not been well reported.AIM To hypothesize that double bundle hamstring ACLR has a lower graft rupture rate compared with single bundle hamstring ACLR grafts in young patients.METHODS One hundred and twelve patients<30 years of age at the time of primary double bundle ACLR were eligible for study participation.91(81.3%)could be contacted,with a mean age of 20.4 years(range 13-29)and mean post-operative follow-up time of 59 mo(range 25-107).Telephone questionnaires evaluated the incidence(and timing)of subsequent re-tear and contralateral ACL tear,further surgeries,incidence and time to return to sport,and patient satisfaction.RESULTS Of the 91 patients,there were 6(6.6%,95%CI:1.4-11.7)ACL graft re-ruptures,with a mean time to re-rupture of 28 mo(range 12-84).Fourteen patients(15.4%)experienced a contralateral ACL rupture and 14 patients(15.4%)required further surgery to their ipsilateral knee.fifty patients(54.9%)returned to pre-injury level of sport.Of those<20 years(n=45),4 patients(8.9%,95%CI:0.4-17.3)experienced a re-rupture,with mean time to re-injury 15 mo(range 12-24).Comparative analysis with existing literature and revealed a non-significant Chisquared statistic of 2.348(P=0.125).CONCLUSION A trend existed toward lower graft rupture rates in young patients undergoing double bundle ACLR utilizing a hamstring autograft,compared with rates reported after single bundle ACLR.Christopher Reece Lim Tamalee Henson Jay Ebert Peter Annear 2019World Journal of Orthopedics2019,10,12:2

7Insight into the growth behaviors of MoS_(2)nanograins influenced by step edges and atomic structure of the substrate显示文摘The step edges and intrinsic atomic structure of single-crystal substrate play a critical role in determining the growth pathways of transition metal dichalcogenide(TMD)grains,particularly whether the TMDs will grow into wafer-scale single-crystal or anisotropic nanoribbons.Hereby,we investigate the growth behaviours of the MoS_(2)nanograins on(0001)and()sapphire substrates.On one hand,the step edges formed on the(0001)surface after thermal treatment are found to promote the macroscopic aggregation of MoS_(2)nanograins and to form unidirectional large triangular islands along with the<>steps in the annealing process,while on the pristine(0001)surface,the MoS_(2)nanograins grow into a random network-like pattern.Moreover,oxygen treatment on the substrate can further enhance the growth of MoS_(2)nanograins.Transmission electron microscopy and fast Fourier transform patterns reveal that the substrate could modulate the orientation of MoS_(2)nanograins during their growing process.On the other hand,the MoS_(2)nanograins on the surface could self-assemble into one-dimensional nanoribbons due to the strong structural anisotropy of the substrate.In addition,the ratio of Raman intensities for peaks that correspond to the and A1g phonon modes shows a linear relationship with the grain size due to the change of the“phonon confinement”.Moreover,new peaks located at 226 and 280 cm−1 can be observed in the off-resonant and resonant Raman spectra for the MoS_(2)nanograin samples,respectively,which can be attributed to the scatterings from the edges of as-fabricated MoS_(2)nanostructures.Shuangyue Wang Ni Yang Mengyao Li Ji Zhang Ashraful Azam Yin Yao Xiaotao Zu Liang Qiao Peter Reece John Stride Jack Yang Sean Li 2022Nano Research2022,15,8:0
