1Biological productivity and carbon cycling in the Arctic Ocean显示文摘Primary production, bacterial production, par-ticulate organic carbon fluxes and organic carbon burial rates were quantified during the summer period of 1999 in the Arctic Ocean via 14C uptake, 3H uptake, 234Th/238U disequilibrium and 210Pbex dating, respectively. The integrated primary production in the water column was as high as 197 mmolC/(m2·d) in the Chukchi shelf and was 3.8 mmolC/(m2·d) in the Canada Basin. These rates are higher than those reported previously. The ratios of bacterial production to primary production in the study region were higher than 0.5, indicating that microbial activity is not depressed but important in cold Arctic waters. 234Th/238U dis-equilibria were evident at the station in the Canada Basin. The presence of significant 234Th deficiency suggested that scavenging and removal processes are also important to bio-geochemical cycles of trace elements in the Arctic Ocean. Particulate organic carbon export flux was estimated to be 1.0 mmolC/(m2·d). 2Spatial–temporal distribution and potential ecological risk assessment of nonylphenol and octylphenol in riverine outlets of Pearl River Delta, China显示文摘The aquatic environments of the Pearl River Delta in Southern China are subjected to contamination with various industrial chemicals from local industries. In this paper, the occurrence, seasonal variation and spatial distribution of alkylphenol octylphenol(OP) and nonylphenol(NP) in river surface water and sediments in the runoff outlets of the Pearl River Delta were investigated. NP and OP were detected in all water and sediment samples and their mean concentrations in surface water during the dry season ranged from 810 to 3366 ng/L and85.5 to 581 ng/L, respectively, and those in sediments ranged from 14.2 to 95.2 ng/g dw and 0.4to 3.0 ng/g dw, respectively. In surface water, much higher concentrations were detected in the dry season than those in the wet season. In sediments, the concentrations in the dry season were also mostly higher. High concentrations of NP and OP were found in Humen outlet, likely due to high levels of domestic and industrial wastewater discharges. 3Export of particulate organic carbon estimated from ^(234)Th-^(238)U disequilibria and its temporal variation in the South China Sea显示文摘Activities of 234Th and nutrient concentrations in the upper 500 m water column were measured at a time-series station in the South China Sea over a time span of 12.3 d. Results showed a reduction of dissolved 234Th and an overall increase of particulate 234Th during the period. Meanwhile, activities of total 234Th kept fairly constant, implying rapid transformation of 234Th between the dissolved and particulate forms. Vertical profiles of total 234Th showed evident deficit of 234Th relative to 238U in the upper 500 m water column. Using an irreversible steady-state model of thorium scavenging, export fluxes of particulateorganic carbon (POC) corresponding to time points T1 and T2 were estimated to be 46.5 and 13.1 mmolC .m-2. d-1. 4Identification and Analysis of Genes Present in Leptospira interrogans serovar lai but Absent in L. biflexa serovar monvalerio显示文摘Genes present in virulent bacterial strains but absent in avirulent close relatives can be of great biologic and clinical interest. This project aimed to identify strain specific DNA sequences of Leptospira interrogans serovar lai, which is absent in the saprophytic L. biflexa serovar monvalerio, via suppression subtractive hybridization with the former as the tester while the latter as the driver. The mixture of PCR amplified DNA fragments from two subtractive hybridization experiments were cloned into pMD18-T vector and the positive clones were identified by dot blotting against the chromosome DNA of the two strains individually. After DNA sequencing and analysis, the distribution of these genomic fragment sequences in a panel of pathogenic and nonpathogenic leptospires was investigated employing dot blot analysis. Among the 188 positive clones randomly chosen, 24 contained the tester strain specific genomic regions, of which, 5 were non-coding fragments while the others contained 23 distinct protein coding sequences. Besides 9 genes encoding functional proteins, 12 genes encode unknown proteins and the rest two genes encode proteins with recognizable domain structures, one for a putative leucine-rich repeats (LRR) family protein while the other as an outer-membrane protein. Our experiment results indicated that suppression subtractive hybridiza- tion is effective for screening specific DNA sequences between two leptospiral strains, and some of these sequences might be responsible for virulence determination. 5Methods to improve the performance of the swept source at 1.0 μm based on a polygon scanner显示文摘In this work, we investigate the methods to improve the performance of the swept source at 1.0 μm based on a polygon scanner, including in-cavity parameters and booster structures out of the cavity. The three in-cavity parameters are the cavity length, the rotating speed of the polygon scanner, and the in-cavity energy. With the decrease of cavity length, the spectrum bandwidth becomes wider and the duty cycle becomes higher.With the increase of the rotating speed of the polygon, the spectrum bandwidth becomes narrower, and the duty cycle becomes lower but the repetition rate becomes higher. With more energy in-cavity, the spectrum bandwidth becomes wider and the duty cycle becomes higher. 6Effect of Phosphorus Grain Boundaries Segregation and Precipitations on Mechanical Properties for Ti-IF Steel after Recrystallization Annealing显示文摘The cold-rolled(75% reduction ratio) Ti-IF(interstitial-free) steels of 1 mm thickness were recrystallized by annealing at 810°C for different times.The microstructure,mechanical properties and phosphorus segregation at grain boundary were investigated by means of optical microscopy(OM),tensile testing and field emission transmission electron microscopy(FE-TEM).It was observed that recrystallization was completed after annealing at 810°C for 180 s.The yield strength and tensile strength decreased as annealing time increased.The FE-TEM observation showed that after the annealing treatment,the grain boundary was broadened and the dislocations with higher density of phosphorus atoms and phosphide at grain boundaries became evident.The amount of phosphorus segregated at grain boundaries increased with annealing time.Xinli Song Zexi Yuan Juan Jia Di Wang Pinghe Li Zhaojun Deng 2010Journal of Materials Science & Technology2010,26,9:2
7Enhance the delivery of light energy ultra-deep into turbid medium by controlling multiple scattering photons to travel in open channels显示文摘Multiple light scattering is considered as the major limitation for deep imaging and focusing in turbid media.In this paper,we present an innovative method to overcome this limitation and enhance the delivery of light energy ultradeep into turbid media with significant improvement in focusing.Our method is based on a wide-field reflection matrix optical coherence tomography(RM-OCT).The time-reversal decomposition of the RM is calibrated with the Tikhonov regularization parameter in order to get more accurate reversal results deep inside the scattering sample.We propose a concept named model energy matrix,which provides a direct mapping of light energy distribution inside the scattering sample.To the best of our knowledge,it is the first time that a method to measure and quantify the distribution of beam intensity inside a scattering sample is demonstrated.By employing the inversion of RM to find the matched wavefront and shaping with a phase-only spatial light modulator,we succeeded in both focusing a beam deep(~9.6 times of scattering mean free path,SMFP)inside the sample and increasing the delivery of light energy by an order of magnitude at an ultra-deep(~14.4 SMFP)position.This technique provides a powerful tool to understand the propagation of photon in a scattering medium and opens a new way to focus light inside biological tissues.Jing Cao Qiang Yang Yusi Miao Yan Li Saijun Qiu Zhikai Zhu Pinghe Wang Zhongping Chen 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5:2
8Research on Retained Austenite for Advanced Aluminum-containing Hot-rolled TRIP Steel显示文摘A new type of hot-rolled transformation induced plasticity (TRIP) steel with 2.3%AI was developed to replaceconventional Si-bearing TRIP steel to improve surface quality of the steel sheet. The relationship between retainedaustenite volume fraction and hot-rolling processing was researched by Gleeble-2000 thermo-dynamic test for theAl-bearing steel. 13In vitro anti-coxsackievirus B_3 effect of ethyl acetate extract of Tian-hua-fen显示文摘AIM: To investigation the anti-coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3m)effect of the ethyl acetate extract of Tian-hua-fen on HeLacells infected with CVB3m.METHODS: HeLa cells were infected with CVB3m and thecytopathic effects (CPE) were observed through light microscope and crystal violet staining on 96-well plate and A600 was detected using spectrophotometer. The protective effect of the extract to HeLa cells and the mechanism of the effect were also evaluated through the change of CPE and value of A600.RESULTS: The extract had some toxicity to HeLa cells at a higher concentration while had a marked inhibitory effect on cell pathological changes at a lower concentration.Consistent results were got through these two methods.We also investigated the mechanism of its anti-CVB3m effectand the results indicated that the extract represented an inhibitory effect through all the processes of CVB3m attachment, entry, biosynthesis and assemble in cells.CONCLUSION: The results demonstrate that the ethyl acetate extract of Tian-hua-fen has a significantprotectiveeffect on HeLa cells infected with CVB3m in a dose-dependent manner and this effect exists through the process of CVB3mattachment, entry, biosynthesis and assemble in cells,suggesting that the ethyl acetate extract of Tian-hua-fen can be developed as an anti-virus agent.Zhen-HongLi Bao-MingNie HongChen Shu-YunChen PingHe YangLu Xiao-KuiGuo Jing-XingLiu 2004World Journal of Gastroenterology2004,10,15:1
