| 1 | Expression of E-cadherin in gastric carcinoma and its correlation with lymph node micrometastasis显示文摘AIM: To examine the expression of E-cadherin in the primary tumor and to evaluate its relationship with lymph node micrometastasis (LNM).METHODS: The authors studied 850 lymph nodes resected from 30 patients with gastric carcinoma who underwent gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay in addition to H&E staining. Cytokeratin-20 (CK-20)gene marker was used in this assay. The level of E-cadherin expression in the primary tumor was examined by immunochemical technique (EliVisionTM plus).RESULTS: LNM was detected in 77 (12.5%) lymph nodes of 14 patients (46.7%) with gastric carcinoma. The incidence of LNM was significantly higher in the diffuse type (12 of 19 cases, 63.2%) than in the intestinal type of gastric carcinoma (2 of 11 cases, 18.2%, P = 0.026). The incidence of LNM also increased in accordance with the depth of tumor invasion. The loss of expression of E cadherin in primary tumors was found in 14 (46.7) of 30 tumors. The absence of E-cadherin expression was significantly associated with the Lauren classification (P = 0.026), lymph node metastasis (P = 0.011), the grade of differentiation (P = 0.004) and the lymphatic invasion (P = 0.001). Expression of E-cadherin was negative in 10 (71.4%) of the 14 patients with LNM, and in 4 (25%) of the 16 patients without LNM (P = 0.026). CONCLUSION: The current results indicate that the RT PCR assay is useful for the detection of LNM and can significantly increase the detection rate of lymph node metastasis in patients with gastric carcinoma. The Laurenclassification and depth of tumor invasion are significantlyassociated with lymph node micrometastases. Our findings also indicate that E-cadherin may play an important role in determining the growth type and differentiation of gastric carcinoma. The loss of E-cadherin expression may contribute to LNM. | Ze-YuWu Wen-HuaZhan Jing-HuaLi Yu-LongHe Jian-PingWang PingLan Jun-ShengPeng Shi-RongCai | 2005 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2005,11,20: | 19 |
| 2 | Expert consensus on perioperative management of liver transplantation in adults with acute-on-chronic liver failure显示文摘Acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF)is a syndrome in which acute liver failure with extrahepatic organ failure occurs on chronic liver disease.Recently, liver transplantation is the only effective treatment for ACLF.There is still room for discussion on the optimal surgery timing for ACLF,perioperative infection prevention and control, and maintenance of nutrition and organ function. The Transplantation Immu-nology Committee of Branch of Organ Transplantation Physician of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and Enhanced Recovery of Liver Transplantation Group of Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Committee of Chinese Research Hospital Association invited relevant experts to discuss the perioperative management of ACLF liver transplantation in areas including surgery timing, organ protection, nutritional support, infection prevention and control, rehabilitation exercises, regulation of the internal environment, etc. An expert consensus was developed as reference for clinicians. | Transplantation Immunology Committee of Branch of Organ Transplantation Physician of Chinese Medical Doctor Association Enhanced Recovery of Liver Transplantation Group of Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Committee of Chinese Research Hospital Society Guihua Chen Yang Yang Huimin Yi Jianrong Liu Pinglan Lu Lijuan Li Mingming Fan Xiaomeng Yi Haijin Lv Xuxia Wei | 2021 | Liver Research2021,5,2: | 3 |

| 17 | Weizmannia coagulans:an ideal probiotic for gut health显示文摘Weizmannia coagulans(formerly Bacillus coagulans)is a spore-forming and lactic acid-producing bacterium. It has recently attracted much attention from researchers and food manufacturers due to its probiotic functions and stability in processing and storage.W.coagulans is capable of improving gut health through the regulation of gut microbiota, modulation of immunity, and improving digestibility and metabolism.Spores, germinated cells and metabolites of W.coagulans modulate the gut micro-environment and further affect other organs.W.coagulans is an environment-friendly probiotic since it can contribute to the host by reconstructing the balance of gut microbiota and only temporarily resides in the intestine after administration.W.coagulans has been generally recognized as safe(GRAS)by the US Food and Drug Administration(FDA),thus it is an ideal probiotic for improving gut health. The merit of its stability in processing and storage provides W.coagulans spores many possibilities for its use in various types of functional foods. This review presents an overview of the characteristics of W.coagulans that make it an ideal probiotic candidate and highlights the proposed health benefits with scientific evidence conferred by the administration of W.coagulans. | Shiqi Zhang Pinglan Li Suwon Lee Yu Wang Chunming Tan Nan Shang | 2024 | Food Science and Human Wellness2024,13,1: | 0 |
