1Naringenin reduces lung metastasis in a breast cancer resection model显示文摘Metastasis is the main cause of death in cancer patients. To improve the outcomes of patients undergoing a surgery, new adjuvant therapies that can effectively inhibit metastases have to be developed. Studies have shown that flavonoid naringenin, a natural product that is mainly present in grapes and citrus, may contribute to cancer prevention. It has many advantages compared to traditional chemotherapeutic drugs, such as low toxicity. To determine whether naringenin can also inhibit metastases, a breast cancer resection model that mimics clinical situations was established. We found that orally administered naringenin significantly decreased the number of metastatic tumor cells in the lung and extended the life span of tumor resected mice. Flow cytometry analysis revealed that T cells displayed enhanced antitumor activity in naringenin treated mice, with an increased proportion of IFN-γ and IL-2 expressing T cells. In vitro studies further demonstrated that relief of immunosuppression caused by regulatory T cells might be the fundamental mechanism of metastasis inhibition by naringenin. These results indicate that orally administered naringenin can inhibit the outgrowth of metastases after surgery via regulating host immunity. 2Corrosion behavior of Mg-Zn-Ca amorphous alloys with Nd addition in simulated body fluids显示文摘The effects of Nd addition on corrosion behavior of Mg66Zn30Ca4 amorphous alloys in simulated body f luids(SBF) were studied in this paper. Electrochemical properties of the samples before and after corrosion were determined. Surface morphologies of samples after immersion in SBF at 37℃ for different times were observed under scanning electron microscope(SEM). Results show that the corrosion resistance of Mg-based alloys in SBF is improved with the addition of Nd element. The electrochemical properties indicate that microalloying Nd element to the alloys leads to an ennoblement in the open circuit potentials of the alloys and a decrease in the anodic current density in SBF, especially for the Mg66-xZn30Ca4 Ndx alloys with Nd content of 1.0at.%-1.5at.%. It was observed that the surface morphologies of the alloys immersed in SBF change with the Nd addition. A f lakelike structure parallel to the alloy substrate formed on the surface of 1.0at.% Nd-containing alloy immersed in SBF for 7 days improves the corrosion resistance of the amorphous alloys by blocking the corrosion liquid from attacking the alloys.Qin Chunling Xiao Tongna Li Yongyan Wang Zhifeng Liu Li Xiong Hanqing Zhao Weimin 2014China Foundry2014,11,6:5

4Fabrication of Mg-Zn-Y-based quasi-crystal by pouring melt into different cooling media显示文摘Mg-Zn-Y-based quasi-crystal (QC) alloys were fabricated by pouring melts into different cooling media. The effects of different cooling rates on the QC morphology, size, volume fraction and micro-hardness were studied. Multi-component Mg-Zn-Y-based QC alloys were synthesized based on amorphous design principle. QC morphology transformation and its influencing factors were analyzed. Micro/nano spherical quasi-crystals (QCs) were fabricated through a wedge-shaped copper mould and their forming mechanism were discussed by atoms cluster theory, optimum cooling rate theory and the known crucial criteria. The results of research show that with the cooling rate reduced, the solidified morphology of QC phase changes from near-spherical, micro petals (1 to 2 μm) to big petals (20 μm) and finally grows up to bulk pentagon or hexagon (200 to 400 μm). Multi-component micro-spherical QCs possess higher value of micro-hardness than petal-like QCs with the same components, and also higher than ternary micro-Mg-Zn-Y QCs. The fine master alloys containing micro-QCs (0.4 μm) and nano-QCs (about 300 nm and 40 nm) have been fabricated correspondingly on the middle and the tip of wedge-shaped castings. 5Single‐atomic Co‐B_(2)N_(2)sites anchored on carbon nanotube arrays promote lithium polysulfide conversion in lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Due to low cost,high capacity,and high energy density,lithium–sulfur(Li–S)batteries have attracted much attention;however,their cycling performance was largely limited by the poor redox kinetics and low sulfur utilization.Herein,predicted by density functional theory calculations,single‐atomic Co‐B2N2 site‐imbedded boron and nitrogen co‐doped carbon nanotubes(SA‐Co/BNC)were designed to accomplish high sulfur loading,fast kinetic,and long service period Li–S batteries.Experiments proved that Co‐B2N2 atomic sites can effectively catalyze lithium polysulfide conversion.Therefore,the electrodes delivered a specific capacity of 1106 mAh g−1 at 0.2 C after 100 cycles and exhibited an outstanding cycle performance over 1000 cycles at 1 C with a decay rate of 0.032%per cycle.Our study offers a new strategy to couple the combined effect of nanocarriers and single‐atomic catalysts in novel coordination environments for high‐performance Li–S batteries.Zhifeng Wang Yajing Yan Yongguang Zhang Yanxu Chen Xianyun Peng Xin Wang Weimin Zhao Chunling Qin Qian Liu Xijun Liu Zhongwei Chen 2023Carbon Energy2023,5,11:1

7Understanding the macroscopical flexibility/fragility of nanoporous Ag:Depending on network connectivity and micro-defects显示文摘The effective engineering applications of nanoporous metals(NPMs)in flexible energy storage and wearable healthcare biosensor monitoring require its uniform ligaments network,specifically crack-free and flexible monolithic bodies.However,the macroscopic fragility of NPMs restricts their applications in wearable electronics fields.Here we focus on the synthetization of highly flexible NPMs.The effects of structural factors,e.g.ligament-network connectivity and micro-cracks on the mechanical properties of nanoporous Ag(np Ag)are investigated.The well-interconnected np Ag metal exhibits higher tensile strength,nanohardness and Vickers hardness than those for the ill-interconnected np Ag metal.The quality of the network connectivity dominates the strength and hardness of the np Ag.The flexibility/fragility is determined by the micro-crack in np Ag.The crack-free np Ag exhibits good flexible behavior.When micro-cracks are introduced,the np Ag becomes fragile.The control of soft volume shrinkage rate(Vsr)and slow surface diffusivity(Ds)effectively suppresses the crack initiation and propagation of as-formed np Ag.These results provide useful insights to synthesize more flexible and crack-free NPM materials for effective use in public wearable electronics and diverse flexible engineering applications in the future.Chaoyang Wang Shengli Zhu Yanqin Liang Zhenduo Cui Shuilin Wu Chunling Qin Shuiyuan Luo Akihisa Inoue 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,52,18:1
