2Scalable volumetric imaging for ultrahigh-speed brain mapping at synaptic resolution显示文摘The speed of high-resolution optical imaging has been a rate-limiting factor for meso-scale mapping of brain structures and functional circuits,which is of fundamental importance for neuroscience research.Here,we describe a new microscopy method of Volumetric Imaging with Synchronized on-the-fly-scan and Readout(VISo R)for high-throughput,high-quality brain mapping.Combining synchronized scanning beam illumination and oblique imaging over cleared tissue sections in smooth motion,the VISo R system effectively eliminates motion blur to obtain undistorted images.By continuously imaging moving samples without stopping,the system achieves high-speed 3D image acquisition of an entire mouse brain within1.5 hours,at a resolution capable of visualizing synaptic spines.A pipeline is developed for sample preparation,imaging,3D image reconstruction and quantification.Our approach is compatible with immunofluorescence methods,enabling flexible cell-type specific brain mapping and is readily scalable for large biological samples such as primate brains.Using this system,we examined behaviorally relevant whole-brain neuronal activation in 16 c-Fos-sh EGFP mice under resting or forced swimming conditions.Our results indicate the involvement of multiple subcortical areas in stress response.Intriguingly,neuronal activation in these areas exhibits striking individual variability among different animals,suggesting the necessity of sufficient cohort size for such studies.Hao Wang Qingyuan Zhu Lufeng Ding Yan Shen Chao-Yu Yang Fang Xu Chang Shu Yujie Guo Zhiwei Xiong Qinghong Shan Fan Jia Peng Su Qian-Ru Yang Bing Li Yuxiao Cheng Xiaobin He Xi Chen Feng Wu Jiang-Ning Zhou Fuqiang Xu Hua Han Pak-Ming Lau Guo-Qiang Bi 2019National Science Review2019,6,5:7

4Joint DOA and polarization estimation for unequal power sources based on reconstructed noise subspace显示文摘In most literature about joint direction of arrival(DOA) and polarization estimation, the case that sources possess different power levels is seldom discussed. However, this case exists widely in practical applications, especially in passive radar systems. In this paper, we propose a joint DOA and polarization estimation method for unequal power sources based on the reconstructed noise subspace. The invariance property of noise subspace(IPNS) to power of sources has been proved an effective method to estimate DOA of unequal power sources. We develop the IPNS method for joint DOA and polarization estimation based on a dual polarized array. Moreover, we propose an improved IPNS method based on the reconstructed noise subspace, which has higher resolution probability than the IPNS method. It is theoretically proved that the IPNS to power of sources is still valid when the eigenvalues of the noise subspace are changed artificially. Simulation results show that the resolution probability of the proposed method is enhanced compared with the methods based on the IPNS and the polarimetric multiple signal classification(MUSIC) method. 5Effects of Spiral Magnetic Field on Structures Transformation and Macrosegregation of Sn-Pb Alloy显示文摘The effect of spiral magnetic field (SMF) on the solidification process of Sn-20 wt.%Pb hypoeutectic alloy was studied in this work. The temperature distribution and the macrosegregation together with the eutectic lamellar spacing during solidification were measured under different magnetic fields. The results indicate that the compositions in the top and bottom portions of the sample are nearly the same and the segregation phenomenon is basically eliminated by SMF at an exciting current of 125 A. The morphology of the primary phase transforms from coarse dendrite to rosette or ellipsoidal equiaxed crystal and the spacing of the eutectic lamellar increases from 1.6 to 3.9 μm when the exciting current increases from 0 to 125 A. 7Very high cycle fatigue behavior of bridge steel welded joint显示文摘<正>Very high cycle fatigue(VHCF) behaviors of bridge steel(Q345) welded joints were investigated using an ultrasonic fatigue test system at room temperature with a stress ratio R = -1. The results show that the fatigue strength of welded joints is dropped by an average of 60% comparing to the base metal and the fatigue failure still occurred beyond 10~7 cycles.The fatigue fracture of welded joints in the low cycle regime generally occurred at the solder while at the heat-affected zone(HAZ) in the very high cycle regime.The fatigue fracture surface was analyzed with scanning electron microscopy(SEM),showing welding defects such as pore,micro-crack and inclusion were the main factors on decreasing the fatigue properties of welded joints.The effect of welding defects on the fatigue behaviors of welded joints was discussed in terms of experimental results and finite element simulations.Chao He Yongjie Liu Donghui Fang Qingyuan Wang 2012Theoretical & Applied Mechanics Letters2012,2,3:1
8Multi-region calcium imaging in freely behaving mice with ultra-compact head-mounted fluorescence microscopes显示文摘To investigate the circuit-level neural mechanisms of behavior,simultaneous imaging of neuronal activity in multiple cortical and subcortical regions is highly desired.Miniature head-mounted microscopes offer the capability of calcium imaging in freely behaving animals.However,implanting multiple microscopes on a mouse brain remains challenging due to space constraints and the cumbersome weight of the equipment.Here,we present TINIscope,a Tightly Integrated Neuronal Imaging microscope optimized for electronic and opto-mechanical design.With its compact and lightweight design of 0.43 g,TINIscope enables unprecedented simultaneous imaging of behavior-relevant activity in up to four brain regions in mice.Proof-of-concept experiments with TINIscope recorded over 1000 neurons in four hippocampal subregions and revealed concurrent activity patterns spanning across these regions.Moreover,we explored potential multi-modal experimental designs by integrating additional modules for optogenetics,electrical stimulation or local field potential recordings.Overall,TINIscope represents a timely and indispensable tool for studying the brain-wide interregional coordination that underlies unrestrained behaviors.Feng Xue Fei Li Ke-ming Zhang Lufeng Ding Yang Wang Xingtao Zhao Fang Xu Danke Zhang Mingzhai Sun Pak-Ming Lau Qingyuan Zhu Pengcheng Zhou Guo-Qiang Bi 2024National Science Review2024,11,1:0
9A Conformal Conical Archimedean Spiral Antenna for UWB Communications显示文摘In this paper, a wide-band miniaturized Conformal conical Archimedean spiral(CCARS) antenna is proposed for Ultra wideband(UWB) communications.The CCARS antenna utilizes the vertical space instead of horizontal space significantly saving the antenna installation space. We investigate the transformation from Planar Archimedean spiral(PARS) antenna to the CCARS antenna and the antenna miniaturization technique. Due to the using of flexible dielectric substrate, the PARS antenna can be bent freely, which assures the transformation from the PARS antenna to the CCARS antenna. To realize antenna miniaturization, zigzag shape arms are applied to the PARS antenna. Moreover, the CCARS antenna has good unidirectional radiation property that avoids the using of traditional absorber-loaded back cavity. The measured results of antenna prototype indicate that the Voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR) is below 2 over the frequency range from 1.3GHz to 9GHz. The antenna gain is higher than3.4d Bi and the Front to back(F/B) ratio is better than20 d B from 2GHz to 7GHz. 10Gut microbiota research nexus:One Health relationshipbetween human,animal,and environmental resistomes显示文摘The emergence and rapid spread of antimicrobial resistance is of global public health concern.The gut microbiota harboring diverse commensal and opportunistic bacteria that can acquire resistance via horizontal and vertical gene transfers is considered an important reservoir and sink of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs).In this review,we describe the reservoirs of gut ARGs and their dynamics in both animals and humans,use the One Health perspective to track the transmission of ARG-containing bacteria between humans,animals,and the environment,and assess the impact of antimicrobial resistance on human health and socioeconomic development.The gut resistome can evolve in an environment subject to various selective pressures,including antibiotic administration and environmental and lifestyle factors(e.g.,diet,age,gender,and living conditions),and interventions through probiotics.Strategies to reduce the abundance of clinically relevant antibiotic-resistant bacteria and their resistance determinants in various environmental niches are needed to ensure the mitigation of acquired antibiotic resistance.With the help of effective measures taken at the national,local,personal,and intestinal management,it will also result in preventing or minimizing the spread of infectious diseases.This review aims to improve our understanding of the correlations between intestinal microbiota and antimicrobial resistance and provide a basis for the development of management strategies to mitigate the antimicrobial resistance crisis.Yuhao Fu Qingyuan Dou Kornelia Smalla Yu Wang Timothy A.Johnson Kristian K.Brandt Zhi Mei Maoyuan Liao Syed A.Hashsham Andreas Schäffer Hauke Smidt Tong Zhang Hui Li Robert Stedtfeld Hongjie Sheng Benli Chai Marko Virta Xin Jiang Fang Wang Yong-Guan Zhu James M.Tiedje 2023mLife2023,2,4:0
