| 1 | From intrinsic dielectric loss to geometry patterns: Dual-principles strategy for ultrabroad band microwave absorption显示文摘As electromagnetic absorbers with wide absorption bandwidth are highly pursued in the cutting-edge electronic and telecommunication industries, the traditional dielectric or magnetic bulky absorbers remain concerns of extending the effective absorption bandwidth. In this work, a dual-principle strategy has been proposed to make a better understanding of the impact of utilizing conductive absorption fillers coupled with implementing artificial structures design on the absorption performance. In the comparison based on the microscopic studies, the carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-based absorbers are confined to narrow operating bandwidth and relatively fixed response frequency range, which can not fulfill the ever-growing demands in the application. With subsequent macroscopic structure design based on the CNTs-based dielectric fillers, the artificial patterns show much more broadened absorption bandwidth, covering the majority of C-band, the whole X-band, and Ku-band, due to the tailored electromagnetic parameters and more reflections and scatterings. | 3 | Background-free latent fingerprint imaging based on nanocrystals with long-lived luminescence and pH-guided recognition显示文摘Latent fingerprints (LFPs)are highly specific to individuals,and LFP imaging has played an important role in areas such as forensic investigation and law enforcement.Presently,LFP imaging still faces considerable problems,including background interference and destructive and complex operations.Herein,we have designed a background-free,nondestructive,and easy-to-perform method for LFP imaging based on pH-mediated recognition of LFPs by carboxyl group- functionalized Zn2GeO4:Mn (ZGO:Mn-COOH)persistent luminescence nanorods (PLNRs).By simply adjusting the pH of the ZGO:Mn-COOH colloid dispersion to a certain acidic range,the negatively charged ZGO:Mn-COOH readily binds to protonated fingerprint ridges via electrostatic attraction.The ZGO:Mn-COOH colloid dispersion can be stored in portable commercial spray bottles,and the LFPs have been easily detected in situ by simply dropping the colloid dispersion on the LFPs.Moreover,since the ZGO:Mn-COOH can remain luminescent after excitation ceases,background color and background fluorescence interference were efficiently removed by simply capturing the luminescent LFP images after the excitation ceased.The entire LFP imaging process can be easily conducted without any destructive or complex operations.Due to the great versatility of the developed method for LFP imaging,clear LFP images with well-resolved ridge patterns were obtained.The designed background-free,nondestructive,and easy-to-perform LFP imaging strategy has great potential for future applications, such as forensic investigations and law enforcement. | Zhiheng Li Qian Wang Yingqian Wang Qinqin Ma Jie Wang Zhihao Li Yingxue Li Xiaobo Lv Wei Wei Lang Chen Quan Yuan | 2018 | Nano Research2018,11,12: | 5 |
| 4 | 7-difluoromethoxyl-5,4'-di-n-octylgenistein inhibits growth of gastric cancer cells through downregulating forkhead box M1显示文摘AIM: To investigate whether the 7-difluoromethoxyl-5, 4'-di-n-octylgenistein (DFOG), a novel synthetic genistein analogue, affects the growth of gastric cancer cells and its mechanisms. METHODS: A series of genistein analogues were prepared by difluoromethylation and alkylation, and human gastric cancer cell lines AGS and SGC-7901 cultured in vitro were treated with various concentrations of genistein and genistein analogues. The cell viability was measured by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. The cells were incubated by DFOG at different concentrations. The growth inhibitory effects were evaluated using MTT and clonogenic assay. The distribution of the phase in cell cycle was analyzed using flow cytometric analysis with propidium iodide staining. The expression of the transcription factor forkhead box M1 (FOXM1) was analyzed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Western blotting. The expression levelsof CDK1, Cdc25B, cyclin B and p27KIP1 protein were detected using Western blotting. RESULTS: Nine of the genistein analogues had more effective antitumor activity than genistein. Among the tested analogues, DFOG possessed the strongest activity against AGS and SGC-7901 cells in vitro. DFOG significantly inhibited the cell viability and colony formation of AGS and SGC-7901 cells. Moreover, DFOG efficaciously arrested the cell cycle in G2/M phase. DFOG decreased the expression of FOXM1 and its downstream genes, such as CDK1, Cdc25B, cyclin B, and increased p27KIP1 at protein levels. Knockdown of FOXM1 by small interfering RNA before DFOG treatment resulted in enhanced cell growth inhibition in AGS cells. Up-regulation of FOXM1 by cDNA transfection attenuated DFOG-induced cell growth inhibition in AGS cells. | 7 | DOX/IL-2/IFN-g co-loaded thermo-sensitive polypeptide hydrogel for efficient melanoma treatment显示文摘Melanoma has been a serious threat to the human health;however,effective therapeutic methods of this cancer are still limited.Combined local therapy is a crucial approach for achieving a superior anti-tumor efficacy.In this paper,a chemo-immunotherapy system of DOX,IL-2 and IFN-g based on poly(g-ethyl-Lglutamate)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(g-ethyl-L-glutamate)(PELG-PEG-PELG)hydrogel was developed for local treatment of melanoma xenograft.The drug release process of this system exhibited a short term of burst release(the first 3 days),followed by a long-term sustained release(the following 26 days).The hydrogel degraded completely within 3 weeks without obvious inflammatory responses in the subcutaneous layer of rats,showing a good biodegradability and biocompatibility.The DOX/IL-2/IFN-g co-loaded hydrogel also showed enhanced anti-tumor effect against B16F10 cells in vitro,through increasing the ratio of cell apoptosis and G2/S phage cycle arrest.Moreover,the combined strategy presented improved therapy efficacy against B16F10 melanoma xenograft without obvious systemic side effects in a nude mice model,which was likely related to both the enhanced tumor cell apoptosis and the increased proliferation of the CD3t/CD4t T-lymphocytes and CD3t/CD8t T-lymphocytes.Overall,the strategy of localized co-delivery of DOX/IL-2/IFN-g using the polypeptide hydrogel provided a promising approach for efficient melanoma therapy. | Qiang Lv Chaoliang He Fenli Quan Shuangjiang Yu Xuesi Chen | 2018 | Bioactive Materials2018,3,1: | 4 |

| 11 | Altitude-related shift of relative abundance from insect to sunbird pollination in Elaeagnus umbellata(Elaeagnaceae)显示文摘The evolution of floral traits has been thought to be influenced by local,effective pollinators.However,little attention has been paid to the possibility that altitudinal variation in floral traits could be mediated by local pollinator functional groups,particularly a shift from bees to birds.Plant size,floral traits,pollinators and their pollination roles were investigated in the spring-flowering shrub Elaeagnus umbellata(Elaeagnaceae)at three altitudes(1160,1676,and 2050 m)in Minshan,Sichuan Province,on the northern rim of the Hengduan Mountains,southwest China.Compared to lower altitudes,higher-altitude plants were smaller but the floral tubes were longer,with a larger volume of nectar of lower sugar concentration but with a greater proportion of sucrose.The visitation frequency of bees decreased with altitude,whereas the sunbirds did the opposite.Birds and bees foraged for nectar but not pollen,and birds deposited more pollen grains per visit relative to bees and least were syrphid flies.Excluding birds decreased seed set at high but not at mid-or low altitude.Our study of E.umbellata revealed an association between altitudinal variation in floral traits and a change in the relative abundance of the major pollinators with altitude from majority bees to majority sunbirds.Although abiotic factors also tend to vary with altitude and can affect floral traits,nectar properties of“pro-bird”pollination were observed at high altitude. | Hua-Qiang Pi Qiu-Mei Quan Bo Wu Xiao-Wen Lv Li-Min Shen Shuang-Quan Huang | 2021 | Journal of Systematics and Evolution2021,59,6: | 3 |

Different backing films were chosen to prepare the cyclobenzaprine transdermal patch. The cumulative amount of cyclobenzaprine released from different patches was evaluated in vitro. To investigate the interaction between cyclobenzaprine and backing films, the partitioning experiments and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared(ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy were performed. The cumulative amount of cyclobenzaprine released from the patch with Cotran? 9700 as backing film was less than that of other patches with different backing films. Furthermore, the cumulative amount of cyclobenzaprine released from the patch with Cotran? 9700 as backing film decreased significantly after 7 d storage at room condition. The partitioning experiments indicated a strong adsorption of cyclobenzaprine onto the Cotran? 9700, which could explain the decrease of cumulative amount of cyclobenzaprine released from the patch with Cotran? 9700 as backing film. According to the ATR-FTIR results, there was no interaction between Cotran? 9700 and cyclobenzaprine. | 15 | Biochar amendments increase soil organic carbon storage and decrease global warming potentials of soil CH4 and N2O under N addition in a subtropical Moso bamboo plantation显示文摘Background: Nitrogen(N) deposition affects soil greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions, while biochar application reduces GHG emissions in agricultural soils. However, it remains unclear whether biochar amendment can alleviate the promoting effects of N input on GHG emissions in forest soils. Here, we quantify the separate and combined effects of biochar amendment(0, 20, and 40 t·ha) and N addition(0, 30, 60, and 90 kg N·ha·yr) on soil GHG fluxes in a long-term field experiment at a Moso bamboo(Phyllostachys edulis) plantation.Results: Low and moderate N inputs(≤60 kg N·ha·yr) significantly increase mean annual soil carbon dioxide(CO) and nitrous oxide(NO) emissions by 17.0%–25.4% and 29.8%–31.2%, respectively, while decreasing methane(CH) uptake by 12.4%–15.9%, leading to increases in the global warming potential(GWP) of soil CHand NO fluxes by 32.4%–44.0%. Moreover, N addition reduces soil organic carbon(C;SOC) storage by 0.2%–6.5%. Compared to the control treatment, biochar amendment increases mean annual soil CO2emissions, CHuptake, and SOC storage by 18.4%–25.4%, 7.6%–15.8%, and 7.1%–13.4%, respectively, while decreasing NO emissions by 17.6%–19.2%, leading to a GWP decrease of 18.4%–21.4%. Biochar amendments significantly enhance the promoting effects of N addition on soil COemissions, while substantially offsetting the promotion of N2O emissions, inhibition of CHuptake, and decreased SOC storage, resulting in a GWP decrease of 9.1%–30.3%.Additionally, soil COand CHfluxes are significantly and positively correlated with soil microbial biomass C(MBC) and pH.
