1Epidemiology of Diabetes in Adults Aged 35 and Older from Shanghai,China显示文摘Objective This study aimed to investigate the epidemiology of diabetes in adults from Shanghai, aged 35 and older, in 2013. Methods We estimated the diabetes prevalence in a representative sample of 18,736 adults who were selected through a multistage stratified cluster sampling process. A standard questionnaire containing questions about demographic characteristics and lifestyle factors was distributed. After an overnight fast of at least 10 hours, a venous blood sample was collected from each participant. For each patient without a history of diabetes, another blood sample was drawn 120 min after an oral glucose tolerance test to identify undiagnosed diabetes and prediabetic condition. Results Among Shanghai residents aged 35 and above, the overall weighted prevalence of diabetes was 17.6% [95% confidence interval(CI): 16.4%-18.8%]. The prevalences were 19.3% in men and 15.8% in women as well as 19.1%, 15.4%, and 16.1% in urban, suburban, and rural residents, respectively. In addition, the weighted prevalence of prediabetes was 16.5%(95% CI: 15.3%-17.8%), with the prevalences of 16.5% in men, 16.6% in women, 15.2% in urban residents, 18.0% in suburban residents, and 18.5% in rural residents. Among all patients with diabetes, 68.1%(95% CI: 64.3%-71.6%) were aware of their status, 63.5%(95% CI: 60.0%-66.9%) received diabetes treatment, but only 35.1%(95% CI: 32.4%-37.8%) had adequate glycemic control. Conclusion In Shanghai, diabetes and prediabetes are highly prevalent. 2Effect of wide-narrow row arrangement in mechanical pot-seedling transplanting and plant density on yield formation and grain quality of japonica rice显示文摘Mechanical pot-seedling transplanting is an innovatively developed transplanting method that has the potential to replace mechanical carpet-seedling transplanting. However, the initial pot-seedling transplanting machine lacked optimized density spacing and limited yield potential for japonica rice. Therefore, ascertaining the optimized density by wide-narrow rows and the appropriate transplanting method for yield formation and grain quality of japonica rice is of great importance for high-quality rice production. Field experiments were conducted using two japonica rice cultivars Nanjing 9108 and Nanjing 5055 under three transplanting methods in 2016 and 2017: mechanical pot-seedling transplanting with wide-narrow row(K, average row spacing of 30 cm);equidistant row(D, 33 cm×12 cm);and mechanical carpet-seedling transplanting(T, 30 cm×12.4 cm). In addition, five different density treatments were set in K(K1–K5, from 18.62×10~4 to 28.49×10~4 hills ha^(–1)). The results showed that the highest yield was produced by a planting density of 26.88×104 hills ha^(–1) in mechanical pot-seedling transplanting with wide-narrow row with a greater number of total spikelets that resulted from significantly more panicles per area and slightly more grain number per panicle, as compared with equidistant row, and yield among density in wide-narrow row showed a parabolic trend. Compared with mechanical carpet-seedling transplanting, the treatment of the highest yield increased yield significantly, which was mainly attributed to the larger sink size with improved filled-grain percentage and grain weight, higher harvest index, and increased total dry matter accumulation, especially the larger amount accumulated from heading stage to maturity stage. With the density in wide-narrow row decreasing, processing quality, appearance quality, and nutrition quality were all improved, whereas amylose content and the taste value were decreased. Compared with mechanical carpet-seedling transplanting, mechanical pot-seedling transplanting improved processing quality and nutrition quality, but decreased amylose content and deteriorated appearance quality. 5Comprehensive analysis of NAC transcription factors in diploid Gossypium: sequence conservation and expression analysis uncover their roles during fiber development显示文摘Determining how function evolves following gene duplication is necessary for understanding gene expansion.Transcription factors(TFs)are a class of proteins that regulate gene expression by binding to specific cis-acting elements in the promoters of target genes,subsequently activating or repressing their transcription.In the present study,we systematically examined the functional diversification of the NAC transcription factor(NAC-TFs)family by analyzing their chromosomal location,structure,phylogeny,and expression pattern in Gossypium raimondii(Gr)and G.arboreum(Ga).The 145 and 141 NAC genes identified in the Gr and Ga genomes,respectively,were annotated and divided into 18 subfamilies,which showed distinct divergence in gene structure and expression patterns during fiber development.In addition,when the functional parameters were examined,clear divergence was observed within tandem clusters,which suggested that subfunctionalization had occurred among duplicate genes.The expression patterns of homologous gene pairs also changed,suggestive of the diversification of gene function during the evolution of diploid cotton.These findings provide insights into the mechanisms underlying the functional differentiation of duplicated NAC-TFs genes in two diploid cotton species.Haihong Shang Zhongna Wang Changsong Zou Zhen Zhang Weijie Li Junwen Li Yuzhen Shi Wankui Gong Tingting Chen Aiying Liu Juwu Gong Qun Ge Youlu Yuan 2016Science China(Life Sciences)2016,59,2:12
6Seasonal and inter-annual variation of surface roughness length and bulk transfer coefficients in a semiarid area显示文摘Here we report a multiyear study on the surface roughness length and bulk transfer coefficients over the degraded grassland and cropland surfaces in a semiarid area of China. Eddy covariance measurement and the meteorological profile observation data were used to analyze characteristics of these parameters on the diurnal, seasonal, and annual scales. Significant seasonal and annual variations of the aerodynamic roughness length are observed over the two surfaces. A large variation of kB-1 is measured during the day. Both kB-1 and the bulk transfer coefficients exhibit significant seasonal and annual variations. During the growing season (May to October), average Cd and Ch are 3.1×10-3 and 2.5×10-3 over the degrade grassland surface, and 4.7×10-3 and 3.1×10-3 over the cropland surface respectively. 7Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 8Comparison of Algorithms for an Electronic Nose in Identifying Liquors显示文摘When the electronic nose is used to identify different varieties of distilled liquors, the pattern recognition algorithm is chosen on the basis of the experience, which lacks the guiding principle. In this research, the different brands of distilled spirits were identified using the pattern recognition algorithms (principal component analysis and the artificial neural network). The recognition rates of different algorithms were compared. The recognition rate of the Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) is the highest. Owing to the slow convergence speed of the BPNN, it tends easily to get into a local minimum. A chaotic BPNN was tried in order to overcome the disadvantage of the BPNN. 10Thermodynamic prediction of thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity in Mg–Zn–La/Ce system显示文摘Basic thermal properties and mechanical properties are critical parameters for the structural magnesium alloys.Solute atoms and second phases can improve mechanical properties,but are deteriorating the heat dissipation performance.Through experimental determination of alloys,it is found that REMg12 phases have fewer negative impacts on thermal diffusivities thanτ;phases.With the same intermetallic compound,the solute atom Zn have more negative influences on thermal diffusivities of Mg-Zn-La/Ce alloys than the content of second phases.In order to quantitatively evaluate thermal conductivities and further design Mg alloys with both high strength and high thermal conductivity,a calculated method is provided to describe the thermal diffusivity of alloys as a function of alloy composition and phase constitution.A set of parameters for expression of thermal diffusivity of Mg-Zn-La/Ce alloys were obtained through assessing the experimental data.The thermal conductivities of Mg-Zn-La/Ce system were predicted and agreed well with experimental values with calculation error of 1.6%and standard error of±3.0 W/(m K).The calculation method considering thermal diffusivity resistivity improves the calculation accuracy and would be physically significant.Tianci Xie Hui Shi Hongbin Wang Qun Luo Qian Li Kuo-Chih Chou 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,2:5
11Case Report:Granulomatous hypophysitis:two case reports and literature review显示文摘Granulomatous hypophysitis(GRH) is extremely rare and commonly presents with chronic inflammatory of the enlarged pituitary gland. In our study,66-year-old and 57-year-old women,both Chinese,were diagnosed with GRH presenting preoperatively definite imageology characters as pituitary adenoma. The 66-year-old woman presented with a year of headache,half a year of gradual decrease of visual acuity,and one month of right ptosis. Serum prolactin level was slightly elevated. Screening computed tomography(CT) scanning revealed typical low density mass found on the enlarged sella,which demonstrated invasive extension from the sella to the right cavernous sinus by contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) . Consequently,the patient was diagnosed with probable invasive pituitary adenoma. The other 57-year-old woman complained a light headache and had been previously treated as nonfunctional pituitary adenoma in other hospital. Finally these two patients underwent transsphenoidal microsurgery and were diagnosed with GRH according to postoperative histopathology. They then were treated with steroid. During the follow-up,the clinical symptoms such as headache,visual damage,and ptosis vanished,and the mass of the sellae dramatically shrank on repeated MR images. Clinically and radiologically,GRH is a rare sellar entity easily to be misdiagnosed as a pituitary adenoma. Trans-sphenoidal surgery can decompress the optical nerve or oculomotornerve as a therapeutic strategy,and support biopsy or further pathological diagnosis. However,the hormonal therapy should be emphasized both as diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. 16QTL mapping for fiber quality and yieldrelated traits across multiple generations in segregating population of CCRI 70显示文摘Background:Cotton is a significant economic crop that plays an indispensable role in many domains.Gossypium hirsutum L.is the most important fiber crop worldwide and contributes to more than 95%of global cotto n production.Identifying stable quantitative trait locus(QTLs)controlling fiber quality and yield related traits are necessary prerequisites for marker-assisted selection(MAS).Results:A genetic linkage map was constructed with 312 simple sequence repeat(SSR)loci and 35 linkage groups using JoinMap 4.0;the map spanned 1 929.9 cM,with an average interval between two markers of 6.19 cM,and covered approximately 43.37%of the cotton genome.A total of 74 QTLs controlling fiber quality and 41 QTLs controlling yield-related traits were identified in 4 segregating generations.These QTLs were distributed across 20 chromosomes and collectively explained 1.01%?27.80%of the observed phenotypic variations.In particular,35 stable QTLs could be identified in multiple generations,25 common QTLs were con sistent with those in previous studies,and 15 QTL clusters were found in 11 chromosome segments.Conclusion:These studies provide a theoretical basis for improving cotton yield and fiber quality for molecular marker-assisted selection.DENG Xiaoying GONG Juwu LIU Aiying SHI Yuzhen GONG Wankui GE Qun LI Junwen SHANG Haihong WU Yuxiang YUAN Youlu 2019Journal of Cotton Research2019,2,2:3
17Chirality-assisted lateral momentum transfer for bidirectional enantioselective separation显示文摘Lateral optical forces induced by linearly polarized laser beams have been predicted to deflect dipolar particles with opposite chiralities toward opposite transversal directions.These“chirality-dependent”forces can offer new possibilities for passive all-optical enantioselective sorting of chiral particles,which is essential to the nanoscience and drug industries.However,previous chiral sorting experiments focused on large particles with diameters in the geometrical-optics regime.Here,we demonstrate,for the first time,the robust sorting of Mie(size~wavelength)chiral particles with different handedness at an air–water interface using optical lateral forces induced by a single linearly polarized laser beam.The nontrivial physical interactions underlying these chirality-dependent forces distinctly differ from those predicted for dipolar or geometrical-optics particles.The lateral forces emerge from a complex interplay between the light polarization,lateral momentum enhancement,and out-of-plane light refraction at the particle-water interface.The sign of the lateral force could be reversed by changing the particle size,incident angle,and polarization of the obliquely incident light.Yuzhi Shi Tongtong Zhu Tianhang Zhang Alfredo Mazzulla Din Ping Tsai Weiqiang Ding Ai Qun Liu Gabriella Cipparrone Juan Jose Saenz Cheng-Wei Qiu 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:3

19Role of Diabetes Mellitus on Treatment Effects in Drug-susceptible Initial Pulmonary Tuberculosis Patients in China显示文摘We assessed the role of diabetes mellitus(DM) on treatment effects in drug‐susceptible initial pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB) patients. A prospective study was conducted in eight provinces of China from October 2008 to December 2010. We enrolled 1,313 confirmed drug‐susceptible initial PTB patients, and all subjects received the treatment regimen(2 H3 R3 E3 Z3/4 H3 R3) as recommended by the national guidelines. Of the 1,313 PTB patients, 157(11.9%) had DM; these patients had more sputum smear‐positive rates at the end of the second month [adjusted odds ratios(aO R) 2.829, 95% confidence intervals(CI) 1.783‐4.490], and higher treatment failure(aO R 2.120, 95% CI 1.565‐3.477) and death rates(aO R 1.536, 95% CI 1.011‐2.628). 20Neural-network-based Power System State Estimation with Extended Observability显示文摘This paper proposes a neural-network-based state estimation(NNSE)method that aims to achieve higher time efficiency,improved robustness against noise,and extended observability when compared with the conventional weighted least squares(WLS)state estimation method.NNSE consists of two parts,the linear state estimation neural network(LSE-net)and the unobservable state estimation neural network(USE-net).The LSE-net functions as an adaptive approximator of linear state estimation(LSE)equations to estimate the nominally observable states.The inputs of LSE-net are the vectors of synchrophasors while the outputs are the estimated states.The USE-net operates as the complementary estimator on the nominally unobservable states.The inputs are the estimated observable states from LSE-net while the outputs are the estimation of nominally unobservable states.USE-net is trained off-line to approximate the veiled relationship between observable states and unobservable states.Two test cases are conducted to validate the performance of the proposed approach.The first case,which is based on the IEEE 118-bus system,shows the comprehensive performance of convergence,accuracy,and robustness of the proposed approach.The second case study adopts real-world synchrophasor measurements,and is based on the Jiangsu power grid,which is one of the largest provincial power systems in China.Guanyu Tian Yingzhong Gu Di Shi Jing Fu Zhe Yu Qun Zhou 2021Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2021,9,5:3
