| 1 | Uptake, Subcellular Distribution, and Chemical Forms of Cadmium in Wild-Type and Mutant Rice显示文摘Wild-type(Zhonghua 11) and mutant rice(Oryza sativa L.) plants were used to investigate the effect of cadmium(Cd) application on biomass production,to characterize the inffux of Cd from roots to shoots,and to determine the form,content,and subcellular distribution of Cd in the roots,leaf sheaths,and leaves of the rice plants.Seedlings were cultivated in a nutrient solution and were treated with 0.5 mmol L-1 of Cd2+ for 14 d.The sensitivity of rice plants to Cd toxicity was tested by studying the changes in biomass production and by observing the onset of toxicity symptoms in the plants.Both the wild-type and mutant rice plants developed symptoms of Cd stress.In addition,Cd application significantly(P ≤ 0.01) decreased dry matter production of roots,leaf sheaths,and leaves of both types,especially the mutant.The Cd content in roots of the mutant was significantly(P ≤ 0.05) higher than that of the wild-type rice.However,there was no significant di?erence in the Cd content of roots,leaf sheaths,and leaves between the wild-type and mutant rice.Most of the Cd was bound to the cell wall of the roots,leaf sheaths,and leaves,and the mutant had greater Cd content in cell organelles than the wild type.The uneven subcellular distribution could be responsible for the Cd sensitivity of the mutant rice.Furthermore,different chemical forms of Cd were found to occur in the roots,leaf sheaths,and leaves of both types of rice plants.Ethanol-,water-,and NaCl-extractable Cd had greater toxicity than the other forms of Cd and induced stunted growth and chlorosis in the plants.The high Cd content of the toxic forms of Cd in the cell organelles could seriously damage the cells and the metabolic processes in mutant rice plants. | HE Jun-Yu ZHU Cheng REN Yan-Fang YAN Yu-Ping CHENG Chang JIANG De-An SUN Zong-Xiu | 2008 | Pedosphere2008,18,3: | 37 |
| 2 | ^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar age evidence for Altyn fault tectonic activities in western China显示文摘Four 40Ar/39Ar age groups of mica, hornblende and K-feldspar were obtained from Proterozoic and early Paleozoic metamorphic rocks in the Aksay-Dangjin Pass area, western China. The samples away from the middle shear zone of the Altyn fault belt yield two plateau age groups in the range of 461—445.2 Ma and 414.9—342.8 Ma, respec-tively. They represent the tectono-thermal events that had been recorded in the rocks that were displaced by the Altyn strike-slip fault in late Ordovician-early Silurian and Devo-nian, respectively. These two age groups should be related to the closures of Northern and Southern Qilian Oceans. The deformed granitic gneiss from the northern belt gives a pla-teau age group of 178.4—137.5 Ma, which is interpreted as the active age of the Altyn fault in the middle-late Jurassic- early Cretaceous and should be related to the accretion of Lhasa block to the north. The sample from the middle shear zone of the Altyn fault belt yields two plateau ages of 36.4 and 26.3 Ma, respectively, suggesting the strike-slip move-ment with strong metamorphism at greenschist facies along the Altyn fault in the late Eocene. This event occurred in the most areas of the northern Tibet Plateau and should be in response in the north to the collision between Indian and Eurasian continents. The present study demonstrates that the Altyn fault is characterized by multiple pulse-style activi-ties under the tectonic setting of convergence between the Indian and Eurasian continents. | LIU Yongjiang1, J. | 4 | Robot-assisted one-stage resection of rectal cancer with liver and lung metastases显示文摘The Da Vinci Surgical System may help to overcome some of the difficulties of laparoscopy for complicated abdominal surgery.The authors of this article present a case of robot-assisted, one-stage radical resection of three tumors, including robotic anterior resection for rectal cancer, segmental hepatectomy for liver metastasis, and wedge-shaped excision for lung metastasis.A 59-year-old man with primary rectal cancer and liver and lung metastases was operated upon with a one-stage radical resection approach using the Da Vinci Surgical System.Resection and anastomosis of rectal cancer were performed extracorporeally afterundocking the robot.The procedure was successfully completed in 500 min.No surgical complications occurred during the intervention and postoperative period, and no conversion to laparotomy or additional trocars were required.To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of simultaneous resection for rectal cancer with liver and lung metastases using the Da Vinci Surgery System to be reported.The procedure is feasible and safe and its main advantages for patient are avoiding repeated operation, reducing surgical trauma, shortening recovery time, and early implementation of postoperative adjuvant therapy. | Jian-Min Xu Ye Wei Xiao-Ying Wang Hong Fan Wen-Ju Chang Li Ren Wei Jiang Jia Fan Xin-Yu Qin | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,9: | 23 |

| 6 | High Potassium Aggravates the Oxidative Stress Inducedy by Magnesium Deficiency in Rice Leaves显示文摘Magnesium(Mg) deficiency in plant affects photosynthesis and many other metabolic processes.Rice(Oryza sativa L.cv.'Wuyunjing 7') plants were grown in hydroponics culture at three Mg and two potassium(K) levels under greenhouse conditions to examine the induction of oxidative stress and consequent antioxidant responses in rice leaves due to Mg deficiency.At low Mg(0.2 mmol L-1 Mg supply for two weeks after transplanting) and high K(6 mmol L-1) for 21 days,the rice plants showed severe Mg deficiency and a significant decreases in the dry matter production.The Mg deficiency in leaves decreased chlorophyll concentrations,photosynthetic activity,and soluble protein,but significantly increased the concentrations of soluble sugars and malondialdehyde(MDA) and the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD,EC 1.15.1.1),catalase(CAT,EC 1.11.1.6) and peroxidase(POD,EC 1.11.1.7).In addition,Mg concentrations in the leaves and in the shoot biomass were negatively related to the activities of the three antioxidative enzymes and the concentration of MDA in leaves.There were very significant interactive effects between Mg and K supplied in the culture solution on shoot biomass yield,chlorophyll content,photosynthesis rate,the activities of SOD,CAT and POD,and MDA content in the leaves of rice.It is suggested that the high K level in the nutrient solution aggravated the effect of low Mg supply-induced Mg deficiency and created the oxidative damage in rice plants. | DING Yu-Chuan CHANG Chun-Rong LUO Wen WU Yan-Shou REN Xiao-Li WANG Ping XU Guo-Hua | 2008 | Pedosphere2008,18,3: | 17 |
| 7 | Effect of Saccharomyces cerevisiae on alfalfa nutrient degradation characteristics and rumen microbial populations of steers fed diets with different concentrate-to-forage ratios显示文摘Live yeast(Saccharomyces cerevisiae) constitutes an effective additive for animal production;its probiotic effect may be related to the concentrate-to-forage ratio(CTFR).The objective of this study was to assess the effects of S.cerevisiae(SC) on fiber degradation and rumen microbial populations in steers fed diets with different levels of dietary concentrate.Ten Simmental × Local crossbred steers(450 ± 50 kg BW) were assigned to a control group or an SC group.Both groups were fed the same basal diet but the SC group received SC supplementation(8 × 10~9 cfu/h/d through the ruminal fistula)following a two-period crossover design.Each period consisted of four phases,each of which lasted 17 d:10 d for dietary adaptation,6 d for degradation study,and 1 d for rumen sample collection.From the 1^(st) to the 4^(th) phase,steers were fed in a stepwise fashion with increasing CTFRs,i.e.,30:70,50:50,70:30,and 90:10.The kinetics of dry matter and fiber degradation of alfalfa pellets were evaluated;the rumen microbial populations were detected using real-time PCR.The results revealed no significant(P> 0.05) interactions between dietary CTFR and SC for most parameters.Dietary CTFR had a significant effect(P< 0.01) on degradation characteristics of alfalfa pellets and the copies of rumen microorganism;the increasing concentrate level resulted in linear,quadratic or cubic variation trend for these parameters.SC supplementation significantly(P< 0.05) affected dry matter(DM) and neutral detergent fiber(NDF)degradation rates(c_(DM),c_(NDF)) and NDF effective degradability(ED_(NDF)).Compared with the control group,there was an increasing trend of rumen fungi and protozoa in SC group(P < 0.1);copies of total bacteria in SC group were significantly higher(P< 0.05).Additionally,percentage of Ruminobacter amylophilus was significantly lower(P< 0.05)but percentage of Selenomonas ruminantium was significantly higher(P< 0.05) in the SC group.In a word,dietary CTFR had a significant effect on degradation characteristics of forage and rumen microbial population.S.cerevisiae had positive effects on DM and NDF degradation rate or effective degradability of forage;S.cerevisiae increased rumen total bacteria,fungi,protozoa,and lactate-utilizing bacteria but reduced starch-degrading and lactate-producing bacteria. | Gengzhi Ding Ying Chang Liping Zhao Zhenming Zhou Liping Ren Qingxiang Meng | 2014 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2014,5,4: | 15 |
| 8 | Friction and Wear Behavior of Resin/Graphite Composite under Dry Sliding显示文摘The friction and wear behavior of resin/graphite composite has been investigated using a pin-on-disc configuration under dry sliding condition. The results showed that the resin/graphite composite exhibited much better mechanical and tribological properties compared with the unimpregnated graphite. The friction coefficient was reduced by addition of furan resin, which could also prevent the'dusting' wear at loads more than 15 MPa. The steady and lubricated transfer film was easily formed on the counterpart surface due to the interaction of furan resin and wear debris of graphite, which was useful to reduce the wear rate of the resin/graphite composite. The Chang'E-1 mission lasted 495 days, exceeding the expected life-span by about four months. A total of 1.37 TB raw data was received from Chang'E-1. It was then processed into 4 TB scientific data products at various levels. Many scientific results have been obtained by analyzing these data, including especially the 'global lunar image from the first Chinese lunar explora- tion mission'. All scientific goals of Chang'E-1 have been achieved. It provides much useful materials for further advances of lunar sciences and planetary chemistry. | 14 | Single-port transperitoneal robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (spRALP): Initial experience显示文摘Objective:To assess the feasibility of single-port transperitoneal robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy(spRALP)and discuss its surgical technique.Methods:A 60-year-old male was admitted with an elevated prostate-specific antigen(PSA)level of 13.89 ng/mL and confirmed with prostate cancer on biopsy showing three of 22 positive cores with a Gleason score of 3þ4=7.Multiparametric magnetic resonance(MR)and bone scintigraphy showed organ-confined disease.spRALP was performed using da Vinci Si HD surgical system,with access of a quadri-channel laparoscopic port placed supraumbilically.Two drainage tubes were placed before wound closure.The surgical procedure was largely in consistence with a conventional robotic-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy.Results:The surgery was successfully carried out with a duration of 152 min and an estimated blood loss of 100 mL.The patient was discharged on postoperative Day 4 after removal of both pelvic drainage tubes.Foley catheter was removed on postoperative Day 14.No major complications were encountered.Postoperative pathology showed a Gleason score of 3þ4=7 with no extraprostatic extension and negative surgical margins.Conclusion:Single-port robotic prostatectomy is feasible using the currently available robotic instruments in most Chinese robotic urological centers.Meticulous preoperative planning and careful patient selection are mandatory.Further studies concerning perioperative complications and pentafecta outcome compared with the conventional multi-port robotic prostatectomy is required. | Yifan Chang Xiaojun Lu Qingliang Zhu Chuanliang Xu Yinghao Sun Shancheng Ren | 2019 | Asian Journal of Urology2019,6,3: | 9 |
| 15 | Effects of Forest Type and Urbanization on Carbon Storage of Urban Forests in Changchun, Northeast China显示文摘Rapid urbanization has led to dramatic changes in urban forest structures and functions, and consequently affects carbon(C) storage in cities. In this study, field surveys were combined with high resolution images to investigate the variability of C storage of urban forests in Changchun, Northeast China. The main objectives of this study were to quantify the C storage of urban forests in Changchun City, Northeast China and understand the effects of forest type and urbanization on C storage of urban forests. The results showed that the mean C density and the total C storage of urban forests in Changchun were 4.41 kg/m2 and 4.74 × 108 kg, respectively. There were significant differences in C density among urban forest types. Landscape and relaxation forest(LF) had the highest C density with 5.41 kg/m2, while production and management forest(PF) had the lowest C density with 1.46 kg/m2. These differences demonstrate that urban forest type is an important factor needed to be considered when the C storage is accurately estimated. Further findings revealed significant differences in different gradients of urbanization, and the mean C density decreased from the first ring(6.99 kg/m2) to the fourth ring(2.87 kg/m2). The total C storage increased from the first ring to the third ring. These results indicate that C storage by urban forests will be significantly changed during the process of urbanization.
