| 1 | Association of hepatitis C virus infection and diabetes in central Tunisia显示文摘AIM:To investigate hepatitis C virus(HCV) seroprevalence in Tunisian patients with diabetes mellitus and in a control group.METHODS:A cross-sectional study was conducted to determine the HCV seroprevalence in 1269 patients with diabetes(452 male,817 female) and 1315 nondiabetic patients,attending health centers in Sousse,Tunisia.HCV screening was performed in both groups using a fourth-generation enzyme immunoassay.RESULTS:In the diabetic group,17(1.3%) were found to be HCV-infected compared with eight(0.6%) in the control group,although the difference was not significant(P=0.057).Quantitative PCR was performed in 20 patients.Eleven patients were positive and showed HCV genotype 1b in all cases.CONCLUSION:Frequency of HCV antibodies was low in patients with diabetes and in the control group in central Tunisia,with no signifi cant difference between the groups. | Naoufel Kaabia Elhem Ben Jazia Ines Slim Imen Fodha Wissem Hachfi Rafika Gaha Mabrouk Khalifa Aoutef Hadj Kilani Halim Trabelsi Ahmed Abdelaziz Fethi Bahri Amel Letaief | 2009 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2009,15,22: | 2 |

| 14 | Iris Recognition Based on Multilevel Thresholding Technique and Modified Fuzzy c-Means Algorithm显示文摘Biometrics represents the technology for measuring the characteristics of the human body.Biometric authentication currently allows for secure,easy,and fast access by recognizing a person based on facial,voice,and fingerprint traits.Iris authentication is one of the essential biometric methods for identifying a person.This authentication type has become popular in research and practical applications.Unlike the face and hands,the iris is an internal organ,protected and therefore less likely to be damaged.However,the number of helpful information collected from the iris is much greater than the other biometric human organs.This work proposes a new iris identification model based on a multilevel thresholding technique and modified Fuzzy cmeans algorithm.The multilevel thresholding technique extracts the iris from its surroundings,such as specular reflections,eyelashes,pupils,and sclera.On the other hand,the modified Fuzzy c-means is used to combine and classify the most useful statistical features to maximize the accuracy of the collected information.Therefore,having the most optimal iris recognition.The proposed model results are validated using True Success Rate(TSR)and compared to other existing models.The results show how effective the combination of the two stages of the proposed model is:the Otsu method and modified Fuzzy c-means for the 400 tested images representing 40 people. | Slim Ben Chaabane Rafika Harrabi Anas Bushnag Hassene Seddik | 2022 | Journal on Artificial Intelligence2022,4,4: | 0 |
