2Significance of cyclooxygenase-2 expression in human primary hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To clarify the significance of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) expression in human primary hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and adjacent nontumorous tissues.METHODS: The COX-2 protein and mRNA were investigatedin 27 HCC tissues with adjacent nontumorous tissues, and 5histologically normal liver tissues, using immunohistochemistryand in situ hybridization.RESULTS: The well-differentiated HCC expressed COX-2protein (5.68±1.19) more strongly than moderated HCC(3.43± 1.98) and poor differentiated HCC (3.33± 1.50)(P<0.05 respectively), adjacent nontumorous tissues (4.93±1.05) and normal liver tissues (3.20±1.g2) (P<0.01respectively); More intensive staining of COX-2 in adjacentnontumorous tissues was observed than that in normal livertissues (P<0.05). There was no significant difference amongadjacent nontumorous tissues, moderately differentiated HCCand poorly differentiated HCC (P>0.05). 3Identification of coastal wetlands of international importance for waterbirds:a review of China Coastal Waterbird Surveys 2005–2013显示文摘Background:China's coastal wetlands belong to some of the most threatened ecosystems worldwide.The loss and degradation of these wetlands seriously threaten waterbirds that depend on wetlands.Methods:The China Coastal Waterbird Census was organized by volunteer birdwatchers in China's coastal region.Waterbirds were surveyed synchronously once every month at 14 sites,as well as irregularly at a further 18 sites,between September 2005 and December 2013.Results:A total of 75 species of waterbirds met the 1 % population level Ramsar listing criterion at least once at one site.The number of birds of the following species accounted for over 20 % of the total flyway populations at a single site:Mute Swan(Cygnus olor),Siberia Crane(Grus leucogeranus),Far Eastern Oystercatcher(Haematopus osculans),Bar-tailed Godwit(Limosa lapponica),Spotted Greenshank(Tringa guttifer),Great Knot(Calidris tenuirostris),Spoon-billed Sandpiper(Calidris pygmeus),Saunders' s Gull(Larus saundersi),Relict Gull(Larus relictus),Great Cormorant(Phalacrocorax carbo),Eurasian Spoonbill(Platalea leucorodia),Black-faced Spoonbill(Platalea minor) and Dalmatian Pelican(Pelecanus crispus).A total of 26 sites supported at least one species of which their number met the1 % criterion.Forty-two species met the 1 % criterion in the Yellow River Delta,Shandong;29 at the Cangzhou coast,Hebei and 26 species at the Lianyungang coast,Jiangsu.Conclusions:The results highlight the international importance of China's coastal wetlands for waterbirds.This study also demonstrates that participation of local birdwatchers in waterbird surveys results in data that are invaluable not only for understanding the current status of waterbirds in China's coastal regions but also for waterbird conservation and management.Qingquan Bai Jianzhong Chen Zhihong Chen Guotai Dong Jiangtian Dong Wenxiao Dong Vivian Wing Kan Fu Yongxiang Han Gang Lu Jing Li Yang Liu Zhi Lin Derong Meng Jonathan Martinez Guanghui Ni Kai Shan Renjie Sun Suixing Tian Fengqin Wang Zhiwei Xu Yat-tung Yu Jin Yang Zhidong Yang Lin Zhang Ming Zhang Xiangwu Zeng 2015Chinese Birds2015,,3:20
4A comparative study between Embosphere~ and conventional transcatheter arterial chemoembolization for treatment of unresectable liver metastasis from GIST显示文摘Objective:Transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) is a standard treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and/or some unresectable liver metastasis tumors.Hypervascular liver metastatic lesions such as metastasis from gastrointestinal stromal tumor(GIST) are an indication for transcatheter arterial embolization(TAE).The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Embosphere~-TAE(Embo-TAE) in comparison with conventional TACE(cTACE) for the treatment of liver metastasis from GIST.Methods:A total of 45 patients who underwent TACE between Aug 2008 and Feb 2013 were enrolled.Patients with GIST who underwent TAE with Embosphere~(n=19) were compared with controls who received cTACE(n=26).The primary end points were treatment response and treatment-related adverse events.The secondary end points were progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS).Results:The treatment response of Embo-TAE group was significantly higher than that of the cTACE group(P<0.001).The PFS was significantly better in the Embosphere~-group than in the cTACE group(56.6 and 42.1 weeks,respectively;P=0.003).However,there was no statistically significant difference in liver toxicity between the two groups(P>0.05).The median OS in the Embo-TAE group was longer than that in the cTACE group(74.0 weeks,95% CI:68.2-79.8 vs.61.7 weeks,95% CI:56.2-67.2 weeks)(unadjusted P=0.045).The use of Embo-TAE significantly reduced the risk of death in patients with GIST with liver metastases according to the Cox proportional hazards regression model [hazard ratio(HR):0.149;95% CI:0.064-0.475].Conclusions:TAE with Embosphere~ showed better treatment response and delayed tumor progression compared with cTACE.There was no significant difference in treatment-related hepatic toxicities.EmboTAE thus appears to be a feasible and promising approach in the treatment of liver metastasis from GIST.Guang Cao Xu Zhu Jian Li Lin Shen Renjie Yang Hui Chen Xiaodong Wang Song Gao Haifeng Xu Linzhong Zhu Peng Liu Jianhai Guo 2014Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,1:18
5Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma inhibits hepatic fibrosis in rats显示文摘BACKGROUND:Hepatic fibrosis is a necessary step in the development of hepatic cirrhosis.In this study we used lentiviral vector-mediated transfection technology to evaluate the effect of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma(PPAR-γ) on rat hepatic fibrosis. METHODS:Hepatic fibrosis in rats was induced by CCl4 for 2 weeks(early fibrosis)and 8 weeks(sustained fibrosis).The rats were randomly divided into four groups:normal control, fibrosis,blank vector,and PPAR-γ.They were infected with the recombinant lentiviral expression vector carrying the rat PPAR-γgene by portal vein injection.The liver of the rats was examined histologically and hydroxyproline was assessed.In vitro primary hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)were infected with the recombinant lentiviral expression vector carrying the rat PPAR-γgene.The status of HSC proliferation was measured by the MTT assay.The protein levels of PPAR-γ,α-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA)and type I collagen expression were evaluated by the Western blotting method. 6Effects of DNA methylation on expression of tumor suppressor genes and proto-oncogene in human colon cancer cell lines显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effects of DNA methylation on the expression of tumor suppressor genes and proto-oncogene in human colon cancer cell lines.METHODS: Three colon cancer cell lines (HT-29, SW1116and Colo-320) treated with different concentrations of DNA methyltransferase inhibitor, 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-aza-dC)were used to induce DNA demethylation. The expressions of p16INK4A, p21WAF1, APC and c-myc genes were observed by using RT-PCR. The methylation status of p161NK4A promoter in HT-29 cells was also determined by methylation-specific PGR (MSP).RESULTS: Weak expressions of p16INK4A and APC in the three colon cancer cells were detected, and p21WAF1 expression was not found in SW1116 and Colo-320 ceils before treatment. After treatment of 1μmol/L but not 10 μmol/L of 5-aza-dC, the methylation level of p16INK4A gene promoter decreased significantly, and the hypomethylation led to the up-regulation of p16INK4A gene transcription in HT-29 cells.In the cell lines of SW1116 and Colo-320, p16INK4A and APC mRNA expressions were obviously enhanced after treatment of either 10 μmol/L or 5 μmol/L 5-aza-dC for 24 h. 7T cells expressing a LMP1-specific chimeric antigen receptor mediate antitumor effects against LMP1-positive nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells in vitro and in vivo显示文摘T cells modified with chimeric antigen receptor are an attractive strategy to treat Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) associated malignancies.The EBV latent membrane protein 1(LMP1) is a 66-KD integral membrane protein encoded by EBV that consists of transmembrane-spanning loops.Previously,we have identified a functional signal chain variable fragment(scFv) that specifically recognizes LMP1 through phage library screening.Here,we constructed a LMP1 specific chimeric antigen receptor containing anti-LMP1 scFv,the CD28 signalling domain,and the CD3ζchain(HELA/CAR).We tested its functional ability to target LMP1 positive nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells.HELA/CAR cells were efficiently generated using lentivirus vector encoding the LMP1-specific chimeric antigen receptor to infect activated human CD3+ T cells.The HELA/CAR T cells displayed LMP1 specific cytolytic action and produced IFN-γ and IL-2 in response to nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells overexpressing LMP1.To demonstrate in vivo anti-tumor activity,we tested the HELA/CAR T cells in a xenograft model using an LMP1 overexpressing tumor.Intratumoral injection of anti-LMP1 HELA/CAR-T cells significantly reduced tumor growth in vivo.These results show that targeting LMP1 using HELA/CAR cells could represent an alternative therapeutic approach for patients with EBV-positive cancers.Xiaojun Tang Yan Zhou Wenjie Li Qi Tang Renjie Chen Jin Zhu Zhenqing Feng 2014The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,6:16
8Mammalian target of rapamycin pathway inhibition enhances the effects of 5-aza-dC on suppressing cell proliferation in human gastric cancer cell lines显示文摘The present study aimed to evaluate the relationship between mTOR signaling pathway and DNA methylation in cell survival,cell cycle,gene expression and protein level on human gastric cancer cells. 9A Facile Recovery Process for Cathodes from Spent Lithium Iron Phosphate Batteries by Using Oxalic Acid显示文摘A simplistic and novel leaching process is developed to dispose spent lithium iron phosphate(LiFePO_(4))batteries.In this paper,oxalic acid is selected as a leaching reagent to recover lithium as a resource and remove phosphorus from LiFePO_(4) batteries,benefiting from its low natural effects.The physical properties of spent cathode materials(before leaching)and residues(after leaching)are identified by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electronic microscopy(SEM)with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS).The total amounts of Li and Fe are analyzed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy(ICP-AES).The process occurs under conditions of a 0.3 mol·L^(-1) oxalic acid concentration,a temperature of 80℃,a reaction time of 60 min and a solid/liquid ratio of 60 g·L^(-1).It can effectively precipitate92%ferrum in terms of FeC_(2)O_(4)·2H_(2)O from LiFePO4,with the leaching efficiency of Li achieving up to 98%.This method demonstrates a new strategy for dealing with spent lithium iron phosphate batteries with a low cost and low environmental impact.Li Li Jun Lu Longyu Zhai Xiaoxiao Zhang Larry Curtiss Yi Jin Feng Wu Renjie Chen Khalil Amine 2018CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2018,4,2:12

11Daily Visibility and Hospital Admission in Shanghai, China显示文摘Objective The study is to investigate the associations between visibility, major air pollutants and daily counts of hospital admission in Shanghai, China. Methods Daily data on hospital admission, visibility, and air pollution during 2005‐2008 were obtained from the Shanghai Insurance Bureau (SHIB), Shanghai Meteorological Bureau, and Shanghai Environmental Monitoring Center, respectively. The generalized additive model (GAM) with penalized splines was used to examine the associations between daily visibility and hospital admission. Results Among various pollutants, PM 2.5 showed strongest correlation with visibility. Decreased visibility was significantly associated with increased risk of hospital admission in Shanghai. An inter‐quartile range decrease in the 2‐day (L01) moving average of visibility corresponded to 3.66% (95%CI: 1.02%, 6.31%), 4.06% (95%CI: 0.84%, 7.27%), and 4.32% (95%CI: 1.67%, 6.97%) increase of total, cardiovascular, and respiratory hospitalizations, respectively. 12THE GLASS TRANSITION TEMPERATURE AND MICROSTRUCTURE OF POLYURETHANE/EPOXY RESIN INTERPENETRATING POLYMER NETWORKS NANOCOMPOSITES显示文摘Nanocomposites with various contents of organophilic montmorillonite (oMMT) have been prepared by adding oMMT to interpenetrating poly- mer networks (IPNs) of polyurethane and epoxy resin (PU/EP) which had been prepared by a sequential polymeric technique. DSC experiment indicates a novel phenomenon that the glass transition tem- perature (Tg) of the nanocomposites increases with the oMMT content up to 3 %, then decreases with further increasing oMMT content. In order to explain this phenomenon, crosslink density, hydrogen bond- ing in the hard segments, crystallization of the nanocomposites and the exfoliation degree of oMMT in the nanocomposites have been investigated by swelling method, FT-IR, XRD, SEM and TEM, re- spectively. The results indicate that the crosslink density and the hydrogen bonding index of the nanocomposites increase, but the crystallization de- gree of the nanocomposites decreases with increas- ing oMMT content. 15Bio-inspired intestinal scavenger from microfluidic electrospray for detoxifying lipopolysaccharide显示文摘Lipopolysaccharide(LPS)plays an important role in metabolic syndrome(MetS)and other gut-derived diseases,and detoxifying LPS is considered to be a fundamental approach to prevent and treat these diseases.Here,inspired by the feeding behaviour of scavenger,novel microfluidic microcapsules with alkaline phosphatase(ALP)encapsulation and the scavenger-like molecular sieve shell are presented for cleaning intestinal LPS.Benefiting from the precisely controlled of the pore size and microfluidic electrospray,the generated microcapsules were imparted with porous molecular-sieve shells and ALP encapsulated active cores.These microcapsules could continuously work as an intestinal scavenger after colonized in intestine.It has been demonstrated that the microcapsules could englobe LPS while inhibit the permeation of digestive enzyme,and this ability contributes to promising ALP’s activity,protecting cells at the presence of LPS and reducing inflammation.In addition,this scavenger inspired microcapsule could effectively decrease the LPS in organs,reduce inflammation and regulating fat metabolism in vivo.These features make the ALP encapsulated microcapsules an ideal candidate for treating MetS and other LPS related diseases.Cheng Zhao Guopu Chen Huan Wang Yuanjin Zhao Renjie Chai 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,6:5

17Drosophila RecQ5 is required for efficient SSA repair and suppression of LOH in vivo显示文摘RecQ5 in mammalian cells has been suggested to suppress inappropriate homologous recombination.However,the specific pathway(s)in which it is involved and the underlining mechanism(s)remain poorly understood.We took advantage of genetic tools in Drosophila to investigate how Drosophila RecQ5(dRecQ5)functions in vivo in homologous recombination-mediated double strand break(DSB)repair.We generated null alleles of dRecQ5 using the targeted recombination technique.The mutant animals are homozygous viable,but with growth retardation during development.The mutants are sensitive to both exogenous DSB-inducing treatment,such as gamma-irradiation,and endogenously induced double strand breaks(DSBs)by I-Sce I endonuclease.In the absence of dRecQ5,single strand annealing(SSA)-mediated DSB repair is compromised with compensatory increases in either inter-homologous gene conversion,or non-homologous end joining(NHEJ)when inter-chromosomal homologous sequence is unavailable.Loss of function of dRecQ5 also leads to genome instability in loss of heterozygosity(LOH)assays.Together,our data demonstrate that dRecQ5 functions in SSA-mediated DSB repair to achieve its full efficiency and in suppression of LOH in Drosophila.Yixu Chen Wen Dui Zhongsheng Yu Changqing Li Jun Ma Renjie Jiao 2010Protein & Cell2010,1,5:5
18Preparation and electrochemical properties of re-synthesized LiCoO_2 from spent lithium-ion batteries显示文摘A new idea for reuse of the cathode materials of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) is investigated to develop an environmentally friend-ly process for recycling spent batteries.LiCoO2 is re-synthesized from spent LIBs by leaching and a sol-gel method calcined at high temperature.Thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) are employed to study the re-actions occurring calcination that are responsible for the weight losses.X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) are used to determine the structures of the LiCoO2 powders.It was found that a pure phase of LiCoO2 can be obtained by the re-synthesis process.Cyclic voltammetry(CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) are used to evaluate the electrochemical properties of the LiCoO2 powders.The discharge capacity of re-synthesized LiCoO2 is 137 mAh g-1 at the 0.1 C rate,and the capacity retention of the re-synthesized LiCoO2 is 97.98% after 20 cycles at the 0.1 C rate,and 88.14% after 40 cy-cles.The results indicate that the re-synthesized LiCoO2 displays good charge/discharge performance and cycling behavior.LI Li CHEN RenJie ZHANG XiaoXiao WU Feng GE Jing XIE Man 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,32:4
19The RECEPTOR-LIKE PROTEIN53 immune complex associates with LLG1 to positively regulate plant immunity显示文摘Pattern recognition receptors(PRRs)sense ligands in pattern-triggered immunity(PTI).Plant PRRs include numerous receptor-like proteins(RLPs),but many RLPs remain functionally uncharacterized.Here,we examine an Arabidopsis thaliana RLP,RLP53,which positively regulates immune signaling.Our forward genetic screen for suppressors of enhanced disease resistance1(edr1)identified a point mutation in RLP53 that fully suppresses disease resistance and mildewinduced cell death in edr1 mutants.The rlp53 mutants showed enhanced susceptibility to virulent pathogens,including fungi,oomycetes,and bacteria,indicating that RLP53 is important for plant immunity.The ectodomain of RLP53 contains leucine-rich repeat(LRR)motifs.RLP53 constitutively associates with the LRR receptorlike kinase SUPPRESSOR OF BRASSINOSTEROIDINSENSITIVE1-ASSOCIATEDKINASE(BAK1)-INTERACTINGRECEPTORKINASE1(SOBIR1)and interacts with the co-receptor BAK1 in a pathogen-induced manner.The double mutation sobir1-12 bak1-5 suppresses edr1-mediated disease resistance,suggesting that EDR1 negatively regulates PTI modulated by the RLP53–SOBIR1–BAK1 complex.Moreover,the glycosylphosphatidylinositol(GPI)-anchored protein LORELEI-LIKE GPI-ANCHORED PROTEIN1(LLG1)interacts with RLP53 and mediates RLP53 accumulation in the plasma membrane.We thus uncovered the role of a novel RLP and its associated immune complex in plant defense responses and revealed a potential new mechanism underlying regulation of RLP immune function by a GPI-anchored protein.Renjie Chen Pengwei Sun Guitao Zhong Wei Wang Dingzhong Tang 2022Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,9:4
20A new tumor-associated antigen prognostic scoring system for spontaneous ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma after partial hepatectomy显示文摘Objective:Spontaneous hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)rupture can be fatal,and hepatic resection could achieve a favorable long-term survival among all strategies of tumor rupture.However,there is no available prognostic scoring system for patients with ruptured HCC who underwent partial hepatectomy.Methods:From January 2005 to May 2015,129 patients with spontaneous HCC rupture underwent partial hepatectomy.Preoperative clinical data were collected and analyzed.Independent risk factors affecting overall survival(OS)were used to develop the new scoring system.Harrell’s C statistics,Akaike information criterion(AIC),the relative likelihood,and the log likelihood ratio were calculated to measure the homogeneity and discriminatory ability of a prognostic system.Results:In the multivariable Cox regression analysis,three factors,including tumor size,preoperativeα-fetoprotein level,and alkaline phosphatase level,were chosen for the new tumor-associated antigen(TAA)prognostic scoring system.The 1-year OS rates were 88.1%,43.2%,and 30.2%for TAA scores of 0–5 points(low-risk group),6–9 points(moderate-risk group),and 10–13points(high-risk group),respectively.The TAA scoring system had superior homogeneity and discriminatory ability(Harrell’s C statistics,0.693 vs.0.627 and 0.634;AIC,794.79 vs.817.23 and 820.16;relative likelihood,both<0.001;and log likelihood ratio,45.21 vs.22.77 and 21.84)than the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer staging system and the Cancer of the Liver Italian Program in predicting OS.Similar results were found while predicting disease-free survival(DFS).Conclusions:The new prognostic scoring system is simple and effective in predicting both OS and DFS of patients with spontaneous ruptured HCC.Jingjing Wu Peng Zhu Zhanguo Zhang Bixiang Zhang Chang Shu Lin Chen Renjie Feng Abdoul aziz Mba'nbo koumpa Ganxun Li Qianyun Ge 2018Cancer Biology & Medicine2018,15,4:4
