| 2 | Identification of candidate genes that regulate the trade-off between seedling cold tolerance and fruit quality in melon (Cucumis melo L.)显示文摘Trade-offs between survival and growth are widely observed in plants.Melon is an annual,trailing herb that produces economically valuable fruits that are traditionally cultivated in early spring in China.Melon seedlings are sensitive to low temperatures,and thus usually suffer from cold stress during the early growth period.However,little is known about the mechanism behind the trade-offs between seedling cold tolerance and fruit quality in melon.In this study,a total of 31 primary metabolites were detected from the mature fruits of eight melon lines that differ with respect to seedling cold tolerance;these included 12 amino acids,10 organic acids,and 9 soluble sugars.Our results showed that concentrations of most of the primary metabolites in the cold-resistant melons were generally lower than in the cold-sensitive melons;the greatest difference in metabolite levels was observed between the cold-resistant line H581 and the moderately cold-resistant line HH09.The metabolite and transcriptome data for these two lines were then subjected to weighted correlation network analysis,resulting in the identification of five key candidate genes underlying the balancing between seedling cold tolerance and fruit quality.Among these genes,CmEAF7 might play multiple roles in regulating chloroplast development,photosynthesis,and the ABA pathway.Furthermore,multi-method functional analysis showed that CmEAF7 can certainly improve both seedling cold tolerance and fruit quality in melon.Our study identified an agriculturally important gene,CmEAF7,and provides a new insight into breeding methods to develop melon cultivars with seedling cold tolerance and high fruit quality. | Lili Li Qiong Li Bin Chen Jiyu Wang Fei Ding Panqiao Wang Xiuyue Zhang Juan Hou Renren Luo Xiang Li Jingwen Zheng Sen Yang Luming Yang Lei Zhu Shouru Sun Changsheng Ma Qin Li Ying Li Jianbin Hu | 2023 | Horticulture Research2023,10,7: | 0 |
| 3 | Design and control of fraction cutting for the separation of mixed alcohols from the Fischer-Tropsch aqueous by-products显示文摘Since the minimum-boiling azeotropes of C2-C8 alcohols with water and high-water content(up to 95%(mass))in the Fischer-Tropsch aqueous by-products,the separation is energy-intensive and challenging.The energy-saving strategy for the complete separation of the Fischer-Tropsch aqueous by-products has received massive attention in recent decades.In this study,a stripper-sidestream decanter process is proposed by exploiting homogeneous azeotropes(C2-C3 alcohols-water)and heterogeneous azeotropes(C4-C8 alcohols-water).The introduction of the stripping column for pre-dehydration avoids the revaporization of the mixture,and energy carried by the overhead vapor is conserved instead of being removed in a condenser.The precise fraction cutting of C1-C3 alcohol-water mixture,C4-C8 alcohols,and water is realized by the sidestream distillation column.The C4-C8 alcohols rich mixture withdrawn from the sidestream flows into the decanter to break the distillation boundary,where the organic phase returns to the sidestream distillation column to obtain the dehydrated C4-C8 alcohols,and the aqueous phase enters the stripping column.Steady-state optimization based on total annual cost(TAC)minimization shows that the stripper-sidestream decanter process reduces TAC by 17.00%and saves energy by 21.27%compared with the conventional three-column distillation process.Further,a control structure of the process is established,and dynamic simulations show that the control structure combining a differential controller with a low-selector exhibits robust co ntrol.This study provides a novel design scheme and deepens the insights into the efficient separation of aqueous by-products of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. | Renren Zhang Yang Huang Kaitian Zheng Chunjian Xu | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,,10: | 0 |

| 5 | Cold exposure alters proteomic profiles of the hypothalamus and pituitary in female rats显示文摘Objective:Studies have shown that both short-term and long-term cold exposures disturb the biological process.The aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of intermittent cold exposure on proteomic profiles in the hypothalamus and pituitary of female Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats.Materials and methods:The rats were exposed to-10°C in a cabin for 4 h per day,and the treatment lasted for 14 days.The comparative label-free LC-MS/MS analysis was performed to investigate the changes of proteomic profiles in the hypothalamus and pituitary.ELISA analysis was used to validate the expression of differential proteins.Results:22 differential proteins in the hypothalamus and 75 differential proteins in the pituitary were identified by the label-free proteomic analysis.Gene ontology annotation and enrichment analysis indicated that cold exposure disrupted protein phosphorylation,filopodium assembly,intracellular protein transport,peripheral nervous system neuron axonogenesis,spinal cord development,Golgi organization,positive regulation of pseudopodium assembly,and cell-cell adhesion.Three proteins(Cdc42,Ptprs,and Setd7)were down-regulated in the cold exposure group.Conclusion:The results indicate that intermittent cold exposure alters the proteomic profiles of hypothalamus and pituitary in female rats. | Xiangyu Bian Xi Li Tong Xu Li Zhang Yongqiang Zhang Shuai Wu Renren Yang Weiyun Dong Changjiang Guo Danfeng Yang Weina Gao | 2023 | Frigid Zone Medicine2023,3,2: | 0 |
