Simulation of hydrogen distribution and effect of Engineering Safety Features (ESFs) on its mitigation in a WWER-1000 containment显示文摘In this study, thermal–hydraulic parameters inside the containment of aWWER-1000/v446 nuclear power plant are simulated in a double-ended cold leg accident for short and long times (by using CONTAIN 2.0 and MELCOR 1.8.6 codes), and the effect of the spray system as an engineering safety feature on parameters mitigation is analyzed with the former code. Along with the development of the accident from design basis accident to beyond design basis accident, the Zircaloy–steam reaction becomes the source of in-vessel hydrogen generation. Hydrogen distribution inside the containment is simulated for a long time (using CONTAIN and MELCOR), and the effect of recombiners on its mitigation is analyzed (using MELCOR). Thermal–hydraulic parameters and hydrogen distribution profiles are presented as the outcome of the investigation. By activating the spray system, the peak points of pressure and temperature occur in the short time and remain belowthe maximumdesign values along the accident time. It is also shown that recombiners have a reliable effect on reducing the hydrogen concentration below flame propagation limit in the accident localization area. The parameters predicted by CONTAIN and MELCOR are in good agreement with the final safety analysis report. The noted discrepancies are discussed and explained.Omid Noori-kalkhoran Najmeh Jafari-ouregani Massimiliano Gei Rohollah Ahangari 2019Nuclear Science and Techniques2019,30,6:3
Additively manufactured metallic biomaterials显示文摘Metal additive manufacturing(AM)has led to an evolution in the design and fabrication of hard tissue substitutes, enabling personalized implants to address each patient’s specific needs. In addition, internal pore architectures integrated within additively manufactured scaffolds, have provided an opportunity to further develop and engineer functional implants for better tissue integration, and long-term durability. In this review, the latest advances in different aspects of the design and manufacturing of additively manufactured metallic biomaterials are highlighted. After introducing metal AM processes, biocompatible metals adapted for integration with AM machines are presented. Then,we elaborate on the tools and approaches undertaken for the design of porous scaffold with engineered internal architecture including, topology optimization techniques,as well as unit cell patterns based on lattice networks, and triply periodic minimal surface. Here, the new possibilities brought by the functionally gradient porous structures to meet the conflicting scaffold design requirements are thoroughly discussed.Subsequently, the design constraints and physical characteristics of the additively manufactured constructs are reviewed in terms of input parameters such as design features and AM processing parameters. We assess the proposed applications of additively manufactured implants for regeneration of different tissue types and the efforts made towards their clinical translation. Finally,we conclude the review with the emerging directions and perspectives for further development of AM in the medical industry.Elham Davoodi Hossein Montazerian Anooshe Sadat Mirhakimi Masoud Zhianmanesh Osezua Ibhadode Shahriar Imani Shahabad Reza Esmaeilizadeh Einollah Sarikhani Sahar Toorandaz Shima ASarabi Rohollah Nasiri Yangzhi Zhu Javad Kadkhodapour Bingbing Li Ali Khademhosseini Ehsan Toyserkan 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,9:2
Effect of elemental molar ratio on the synthesis of higher alcohols over Co-promoted alkali-modified Mo_2C catalysts supported on CNTs显示文摘A series of molybdenum carbide catalysts promoted by potassium and cobalt, supported on carbon nanotubes(CNTs) were prepared by carbothermal hydrogen reduction method using CNTs as a carbon precursor.Firstly, molybdenum and cobalt were loaded by co-precipitation method, and then potassium and additional molybdenum were impregnated to previous resultant.Different Mo/Co and K/Co molar ratio were used in catalyst synthesis. All the catalysts were characterized by ICP,BET,TEM,TPR,XRD and XPS,and the catalysts performances for higher alcohols synthesis(HAS) were investigated in a fixed-bed micro-reactor.The maximum selectivity to higher alcohols(C2+OH) was obtained at Mo/Co and K/Mo molar ratios of 1.66 and 0.6,respectively.XRD results confirmed the formation of K-Mo-C site and Co3Mo3 C phase that might play important role in producing C2+OH.Rohollah M.Kiai Tahereh Nematian Ahmad Tavasoli Ali Karimi 2015Journal of Energy Chemistry2015,24,3:2

Calculation of Half-Metal, Debye and Curie Temperatures of Co_2 VAl Compound: First Principles Study显示文摘By FP-LAPW calculations, the structural, elastic, Debye and Curie temperatures, electronic and magnetic properties of Co2 VAl are investigated. The results indicate that Ferromagnetic(FM) phase is more stable than AntiFerromagnetic(AFM) and Non-magnetic(NM) ones. In addition, C11–C12> 0, C44> 0, and B > 0 so Co2 VAl is an elastically stable material with high Debye temperature. Also, the B/G ratio exhibits a ductility behavior. The relatively high Curie temperature provides it as a favorable material for spintronic application. It's electronic and magnetic properties are studied by GGA+U approach leading to a 100% spin polarization at Fermi level.Arash Boochani Heidar Khosravi Jabbar Khodadadi Shahram Solaymani Masoud Majidiyan Sarmazdeh Rohollah Taghavi Mendi Sayed Mohammad Elahi 2015Communications in Theoretical Physics2015,63,5:1

Hyaluronidase in sub-Tenon's anesthesia for phacoemulsification,a double-blind randomized clinical trial显示文摘AIM:To investigate the effect of hyaluronidase use on the quality of sub-Tenon's anaesthesia for phacoemulsification.· METHODS:This was a randomized,double-blind clinical trial which was conducted at Nikookari Eye Hospital for 5 months.Forty-two eyes of candidates for phacoemulsification under sub-Tenon's anaesthesia were randomly allocated to two equal groups and received either 2 mL of lidocaine 2% solution with(LH),or without(L) addition of hyaluronidase(150IU/mL).Akinesia was assessed 15 minutes after sub-Tenon's injection.Patients and surgeon's satisfaction,as well as the postoperative pain(the visual analogue scale,VAS) were investigated after operation. The contingency tables(including the Chi-square or Fisher's exact tests, when appropriate) and parametric analysis(the independent samples t test) were used for statistical analysis.· RESULTS:Complete akinesia(33.3% vs 4.8%,P =0.04),as well as the patients(85.7% vs 57.1%,P =0.04)and surgeon's satisfaction(87.5% vs 52.4%,P =0.02) were significantly more frequent in LH than in L group. The mean VAS was significantly lower in the same group(1.90±1.45 vs 3.00±1.55,P =0.04).· CONCLUSION:Addition of hyaluronidase to lidocaine solution for sub-Tenon's anesthesia significantly improves the ocular akinesia, enhances the intra-operative patients and surgeons' satisfaction, and attenuates the postoperative pain.Mohammadreza Sedghipour Ali Mahdavifard Rohollah Fadaei Fouladi Davoud Gharabaghi Mohammadbagher Rahbani Ghasem Amiraslanzadeh Mohammadreza Afhami 2012International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2012,5,3:1
Protective effect of co-enzyme Q10 on testicular tissue and sperm parameters in adult male rats treated with Sunset Yellow FCF显示文摘Objective:To determine the protective effect of co-enzyme Q10(CoQ10)on testicular tissue and sperm parameters in male rats treated with SunsetYellow FCF.Methods:Sixty male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 6 groups of the control,CoQ10(10 mg/kg/day),low dose of Sunset Yellow(2.5 mg/kg),high dose of Sunset Yellow(70 mg/kg),low dose of Sunset Yellow(2.5 mg/kg)plus CoQ10,and high dose of Sunset Yellow(70 mg/kg)plus CoQ10.The drugs were administered via daily oral gavages for 6 weeks. At the end of the experiment, sperm analysis, stereological and histological assessments of the testis were carried out. Results:The normal morphology(by 41.1%)and progressive spermatozoa(by 74.8%),testicle volume(by 33.4%),lumen volume(by 38.3%),interstitial tissue volume(by 44.7%),seminiferous tubule volume(by 40.7%),and number of spermatogonia(by 53.9%)and Leydig cells(by 70.7%)reduced in the rats that received high doses of Sunset Yellow in comparison to the control group.Nonetheless, all these alterations were recovered by CoQ10 treatment in the CoQ10 plus high dose of Sunset Yellow group.Furthermore, low doses of Sunset Yellow did not affect different parameters of the testis and sperm.Conclusions:CoQ10 could,to some extent, prevent structural changes of the testis induced by the high dose of SunsetYellow.Rohollah Nazari Somayeh Akbari Maryam Naseh Shayan Yousufzai Seyede Fatemeh Hosseini Fatemeh Karimi 2024Asian pacific Journal of Reproduction2024,13,2:0
Improving the Cellular Characteristics of Aluminum Foam for Maximum Sound Absorption Coefficient Using Genetic Algorithm显示文摘Fabricating of metal foams with desired morphological parameters including pore size, porosity and pore opening is possible now using sintering technology. Thus,if it is possible to determine the morphology of metal foam to absorb sound at a given frequency, and then fabricate it through sintering,it is expected to have optimized metal foams for the best sound absorption.Theoretical sound absorption models such as Lu model describe the relationship between morphological parameters and the sound absorption coefficient. In this study, the Lu model was used to optimize the morphological parameters of aluminum metal foam for the best sound absorption coefficient. For this purpose, the Lu model was numerically solved using written codes in MATLAB software. After validating the proposed codes with benchmark data, the genetic algorithm(GA)was applied to optimize the affecting morphological parameters on the sound absorption coefficient. The optimization was carried out for the thicknesses of 5 mm to 40 mm at the sound frequency range of 250 Hz–8000 Hz.The optimized parameters ranged from 50%to 95%for porosity,0.1 mm to 4.5 mm for pore size, and 0.07 mm to 0.6 mm for pore opening size. The result of this study was applied to fabricate the desired aluminum metal foams for the best sound absorption. The novel approach applied in this study,is expected to be successfully applied in for best sound absorption in desired frequencies.Mohammad Javad Jafari Mohsen Niknam Sharak Ali Khavanin Touraj Ebadzadeh Mahmood Fazlali Rohollah Fallah Madvari 2021Sound & Vibration2021,55,2:0
Performance and plasma concentration of metabolites in transition dairy cows supplemented with vitamin E and fat显示文摘The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of vitamin E(VE; 1 500 or 3 000 international units(IU) d^(–1)) and fat(2% of dry matter calcium salt of soybean oil) supplementation during the transition period on feed intake, milk yield and composition and blood metabolites of dairy cows. 48 multiparous Holstein cows were randomly assigned into one of four treatments in a 2×2 factorial arrangement of vitamin E and supplemental dietary fat during the transition period. Treatments were: 1) 1 500 IU d^(–1) vitamin E without fat supplementation(1 500VE–F); 2) 1 500 IU d^(–1) vitamin E with fat supplement(1 500VE+F); 3) 3 000 IU d^(–1) vitamin E without fat supplementation(3 000VE–F); and 4) 3 000 IU d^(–1) vitamin E with fat supplement(3 000VE+F). Dietary treatments were initiated at approximately 28 d before expected calving dates and continued through 28 d postpartum. Dry matter intake(DMI) was unaffected(P>0.05) by prepartum treatment. Regardless of vitamin E supplementation, DMI was greater(P<0.01) in fat-supplemented cows compared with un-supplemented cows(19.60 vs. 18.45 kg d^(–1); SEM=0.42) during the postpartum period. Energy balance and body weight were not affected(P>0.05) by treatments. Postpartum diets had no significant effect on milk yield or milk composition. Plasma concentrations of non-esterified fatty acids, glucose, and insulin were not affected(P>0.05) by treatments. Regardless of vitamin E supplementation, plasma β-hydroxybutyrate concentration was greater(P<0.05) in fat-supplemented cows compared with un-supplemented cows during the postpartum period. These results showed no indication of positive effects on lactation performance associated with vitamin E and dietary fat supplement in transition cows.Rohollah Amirifard Mohammad Khorvash Masiholla Forouzmand Hamid-Reza Rahmani Ahmad Riasi Mohammad Malekkhahi Mojtaba Yari Morteza Hosseini-Ghaffari 2016Journal of Integrative Agriculture2016,15,5:0
