1Pt/WO_3/C nanocomposite with parallel WO_3 nanorods as cathode catalyst for proton exchange membrane fuel cells显示文摘Pt/WO3/C nanocomposites with parallel WO3 nanorods were synthesized and applied as the cathode catalyst for proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs). Electrochemical results and single cell tests show that an enhanced activity for the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) is obtained for the Pt/WO3/C catalyst compared with Pt/C. The higher catalytic activity might be ascribed to the improved Pt dispersion with smaller particle sizes. The Pt/WO3/C catalyst also exhibits a good electrochemical stability under potential cycling. 2Short-working-distance optical imaging system and method for surface detection of underwater structures显示文摘In the surface imaging of underwater structures, long working distance will reduce image quality due to the turbidity of water. To acquire high definition and large field of view(FOV) images for surface detection, a short-working-distance underwater imaging system is proposed based on camera array. A multi-view calibration and rectification method is developed. A look-up table(LUT) method and a multi-resolution spline(MRS) method are applied to stitch array images real-time and seamlessly.Experiments both in the air and in the water are conducted. 3The effects of altered BMP4 signaling in first branchialarch- derived murine embryonic orofacial tissues显示文摘The first branchial arch(BA1),which is derived from cranial neural crest(CNC)cells,gives rise to various orofacial tissues.Cre mice are widely used for the determination of CNC and exploration of gene functions in orofacial development.However,there is a lack of Cre mice specifically marked BA1’s cells.Pax2-Cre allele was previously generated and has been widely used in the field of inner ear development.Here,by compounding Pax2-Cre and R26R-mTmG mice,we found a specific expression pattern of Pax2^(+)cells that marked BA1’s mesenchymal cells and the BA1-derivatives.Compared to Pax2-Cre;R26R-mTmG allele,GFP^(+)cells were abundantly found both in BA1 and second branchial arch in Wnt1-Cre;R26R-mTmG mice.As BMP4 signaling is required for orofacial development,we over-activated Bmp4 by using Pax2-Cre;pMes-BMP4 strain.Interestingly,our results showed bilateral hyperplasia between the upper and lower teeth.We also compare the phenotypes of Wnt1-Cre;pMes-BMP4 and Pax2-Cre;pMes-BMP4 strains and found severe deformation of molar buds,palate,and maxilla-mandibular bony structures in Wnt1-Cre;pMes-BMP4 mice;however,the morphology of these orofacial organs were comparable between controls and Pax2-Cre;pMes-BMP4 mice except for bilateral hyperplastic tissues.We further explore the properties of the hyperplastic tissue and found it is not derived from Runx2^(+)cells but expresses Msx1,and probably caused by abnormal cell proliferation and altered expression pattern of p-Smad1/5/8.In sum,our findings suggest altering BMP4 signaling in BA1-specific cell lineage may lead to unique phenotypes in orofacial regions,further hinting that Pax2-Cre mice could be a new model for genetic manipulation of BA1-derived organogenesis in the orofacial region.Jue Xu Meiling Chen Yanan Yan Qiaoxue Zhao Meiying Shao Zhen Huang 2021International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,4:3

5Toxic Effects of Three Heavy Metallic Ions on Rana zhenhaiensis Tadpoles显示文摘Heavy metal pollution is widespread in some areas of China and results in contamination of land, water, and air with which all living organisms interact. In this study, we used three heavy metallic ions(Cu2+, Pb2+ and Zn2+) to assess their toxicity effects on mortality, blood biomarker and growth traits(body length and body mass) of Rana zhenhaiensis tadpoles. The results showed that the toxicity levels of the three metallic ions were different when conducted with different experiment designs. For acute toxicity tests, Cu2+ was the most toxic with the highest tadpole mortality. The mortalities of tadpoles showed significant differences among the treatments at the same exposure time endpoints(24, 48, 72 and 96h). Results from repeated measures ANOVA indicated that metallic ion concentration, exposure time and their interactions significantly affected the mortalities of R. zhenhaiensis tadpoles. Also, the toxicity effects of all binary combinations of the three metallic ion treatments showed synergism. The half lethal concentrations(LC50) decreased with increasing exposure time during the experimental period, and the safe concentration(SC) values of Cu2+, Pb2+ and Zn2+ were different from each other. Combined and compared LC50 values with previous data reported, it is suggestes that the toxicity levels of metal pollution to anuran tadpoles should be species-and age-related. For blood biomarker tests, Zn2+ was the most toxic with the highest total frequencies of abnormal erythrocytic nucleus. All three metallic ions caused higher abnormal erythrocytic nucleus compared with control groups. In a chronic toxicity test, Pb2+ was the most toxic with lowest growth traits. Survival rate(except for 18 days), total body length and body mass showed significant differences among the treatments. 6Monthly change of community structure of zoobenthos in Xiangxi Bay after impoundment of the Three Gorges Reservoir,China显示文摘Xiangxi Bay,a typical bay of the Three Gorges Reservoir(TGR)in China,was formed in June 2003 after the impoundment of the TGR.We investigated the community structure of zoobenthos in Xiangxi Bay from August 2003 to August 2004.Benthic abundance and biomass were calculated per unit area of sediment.A total of 26 taxa were identified.They included two families of Lamellibranchia(7.7%of the total taxa number),two families of Oligochaeta(50%),Chironomidae(38.5%),and one other animal(3.8%).The average density and biomass were 276 ind./m2 and 0.301 g/m2,respectively.Oligochaetes and chironomids constituted the major groups,and Limnodrilus hoffmeisteri,Procladius sp.,Branchiura sowerbyi,Tubificidae sp1.and Polypedilum scalaenum group sp.were the common taxa in this reservoir system.Among them,L.hoffmeisteri and Procladius sp.were the dominant species,and contributed 37.0%and 28.3%of the total density,respectively.The standing crop of zoobenthos in Xiangxi Bay was relative low,compared with other similar reservoirs.Our studies demonstrate that the standing crop increased gradually with time.The total density and biomass in August 2004 were 8.8 and 14.3 times those of the initial impoundment,separately.Oligochaetes did not become the sole dominant group,indicating that the sediment loading in Xiangxi Bay may be not serious.SHAO Meiling XIE Zhicai YE Lin CAI Qinghua 2007Frontiers in Biology2007,2,2:1

11Broadband 1T-polytype tantalum disulfide saturable absorber for solid-state bulk lasers显示文摘1T-polytype tantalum disulfide(1T-TaS_(2)),an emerging strongly correlated material,features a narrow bandgap of 0.2 e V,bridging the gap between zero-bandgap graphene and large-bandgap 2D nonlinear optical(NLO)materials.Combined with its intense light absorption,high carrier concentration,and high mobility,1T-TaS_(2) shows considerable potential for applications in broadband optoelectronic devices.However,its NLO characteristics and related applications have rarely been explored.Here,1T-TaS_(2) nanosheets are prepared by chemical vapor deposition.The ultrafast carrier dynamics in the 400–1100 nm range and broadband NLO performance in the 515–2500 nm range are systematically studied using femtosecond lasers.An obvious saturable absorption phenomenon is observed in the visible to IR range.The nonlinear absorption coefficient is measured to be-22.60±0.52 cm MW-1under 1030 nm,which is larger than that of other typical 2D saturable absorber(SA)materials(graphene,black phosphorus,and MoS_(2))under similar experimental conditions.Based on these findings,using 1T-TaS_(2) as a new SA,passively Q-switched laser operations are successfully performed at 1.06,1.34,and 1.94μm.The results highlight the promise of 1T-TaS_(2) for broadband optical modulators and provide a potential candidate material system for mid-IR nonlinear optical applications.MENGXIA WANG HAILONG QIU TIANWEN YANG ZHENGPING WANG CHUANRUI ZHAO YUANAN ZHAO TING YU YUYAO JIANG MEILING CHEN YAFEI LIAN GE ZHANG HONGJUN LIU ZHANGGUI HU JIANDA SHAO 2022Photonics Research2022,10,9:0
12Natural long-chain saturated fatty acids doped LNPs enabling spleen selective mRNA translation and potent cancer immunotherapy显示文摘Rationally tailored lipid nanoparticles(LNPs)with efficient and tunable delivery of mRNA in vivo are crucial for mRNA vaccines.Selective expression of antigenic protein in lymphoid tissues/organs could improve the immunostimulatory efficacy and safety of LNPs-based mRNA vaccines.Inspired by the metabolic behavior that long-chain saturated fatty acids tending to enter lymphoid tissue rather than the liver,we developed fatty acid-doped LNPs capable of mediating differential protein expressions in the liver and spleen when administered intravenously.When the molar ratio of saturated fatty acid located 60%–70%,the doped LNPs achieved the spleen selective mRNA translation.The mechanism could be attributed to the different cellular uptake behaviors of saturated fatty acids in hepatocytes.Immunization with a model antigen(ovalbumin)mRNA-loaded spleen selective LNPs,we observed enhanced antigen-specific T cell immune responses,and potent immunotherapeutic and immunoprophylactic efficacy in the mouse lymphoma model.Our natural long-chain saturated fatty acids metabolic characteristics-inspired design of LNPs for spleen-selective mRNA vaccines delivery will provide references for designing mRNA vaccines with high efficacy and safety for tumor immunotherapy.Fazhan Wang Meng Zhang Meiling Tian Jia Lou Longze Pan Xiaoke Gao Lijing Zhang Xiaohan Lou Linyu Zhu Yuqiao Sheng Ming Wang Rui Xue Wenjing Deng Shuai Shao Zhihai Qin 2024Nano Research2024,17,3:0
13Anti-cancer liposomal chemophototherapy using bilayer-localized photosensitizer and cabazitaxel显示文摘Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is a non-invasive tumor ablation modality that can be enhanced in combination with concurrent chemotherapy.Previously,we demonstrated that liposomes containing a bilayer-anchored photosensitizer(porphyrin-phospholipid;PoP)can be loaded with drugs in their aqueous core to improve drug delivery and tumor ablation upon target tissue irradiation with red-light.In the present work,we demonstrate that this concept can be extended to drugs loaded within the hydrophobic bilayer of liposomes.Cabazitaxel(CTX)is a potent second generation taxane anti-cancer drug that was loaded in the bilayer of liposomes also containing 0.1 molar%PoP,generating CTX-loaded PoP liposomes(CTX-PoP-Lip).CTX-PoP-Lip showed unilamellar vesicle morphology,and exhibited integrity in storage and serum,while maintaining drug stability under laser irradiation.In vitro cell killing evaluation showed that red-light laser irradiation induced cytotoxicity in cells incubated with CTX-PoP-Lip,compared to control treatments.In vivo pharmacokinetic analysis revealed that following intravenous administration to mice,CTX and PoP exhibited somewhat altered circulation profiles,suggesting that the CTX may have exchanged with serum factors in blood.Nevertheless,when a single treatment of CTX-PoP-Lip with laser irradiation was administered to mice bearing human MIA Paca-2 tumors,tumors were effectively ablated whereas the equivalent chemotherapy and PDT monotherapies were ineffective.These results demonstrate the versatility of liposome delivery systems for achieving tumor ablation with chemophototherapy.Boyang Sun Sanjana Ghosh Xuedan He Wei-Chiao Huang Breandan Quinn Meiling Tian Dushyant Jahagirdar Moustafa T.Mabrouk Joaquin Ortega Yumiao Zhang Shuai Shao Jonathan F.Lovell 2022Nano Research2022,15,5:0
