1Effect of climate change on seasonal monsoon in Asia and its impact on the variability of monsoon rainfall in Southeast Asia显示文摘Global warming and climate change is one of the most extensively researched and discussed topical issues affecting the environment.Although there are enough historical evidence to support the theory that climate change is a natural phenomenon,many research scientists are widely in agreement that the increase in temperature in the 20 th century is anthropologically related.The associated effects are the variability of rainfall and cyclonic patterns that are being observed globally.In Southeast Asia the link between global warming and the seasonal atmospheric flow during the monsoon seasons shows varying degree of fuzziness.This study investigates the impact of climate change on the seasonality of monsoon Asia and its effect on the variability of monsoon rainfall in Southeast Asia.The comparison of decadal variation of precipitation and temperature anomalies before the 1970 s found general increases which were mostly varying.But beyond the 1970 s,global precipitation anomalous showed increases that almost corresponded with increases in global temperature anomalies for the same period.There are frequent changes and a shift westward of the Indian summer monsoon.Although precipitation is observed to be 70%below normal levels,in some areas the topography affects the intensity of rainfall.These shifting phenomenon of other monsoon season in the region are impacting on the variability of rainfall and the onset of monsoons in Southeast Asia and is predicted to delay for 15 days the onset of the monsoon in the future.The variability of monsoon rainfall in the SEA region is observed to be decadal and the frequency and intensity of intermittent flooding of some areas during the monsoon season have serious consequences on the human,financial,infrastructure and food security of the region.Yen Yi Loo Lawal Billa Ajit Singh 2015Geoscience Frontiers2015,6,6:8
2Composition, structure and diversity characterization of dry tropical forest of Chhattisgarh using satellite data显示文摘The purpose of this study was to characterize the land use, vegetation structure, and diversity in the Barnowpara Sanctuary, Raipur district, Chhattisgarh, India through the use of satellite remote sensing and GIS. Land cover and vegetation were spatially analyzed by digitally classifying IRS 1D LISS III satellite data using a maximum likelihood algorithm. Later, the variations in structure and diversity in different forest types and classes were quantified by adopting quadratic sampling procedures. Nine land-cover types were delineated: teak forest, dense mixed forest, degraded mixed forest, Sal mixed forest, open mixed forest, young teak plantation, grasslands, agriculture, habitation, and water bodies. The classification accuracy for different land-use classes ranged from 71.23% to 100%. The highest accuracy was observed in water bodies and grassland, followed by habitation and agriculture, teak forest, degraded mixed forest, and dense mixed forest. The accuracy was lower in open mixed forest, and sal mixed forest. Results revealed that density of different forest types varied from 324 to 733 trees ha-1, basal area from 8.13 to 28.87 m2·ha-1 and number of species from 20 to 40. Similarly, the diversity ranged from 1.36 to 2.98, concentration of dominance from 0.06 to 0.49, species richness from 3.88 to 6.86, and beta diversity from 1.29 to 2.21. The sal mixed forest type recorded the highest basal area, diversity was highest in the dense mixed forest, and the teak forest recorded maximum density, which was poor in degraded mixed forests. The study also showed that Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI) was strongly correlated to with the Shannon Index and species richness.Tarun Thakur S.L. 3Staphylococcus aureusβ-hemolysin-neutralizing single-domain antibody isolated from phage display library of Indian desert camel显示文摘Objective:To isolate and characterize Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)β-hemolysinneutralizing dAbs from phage display library of Indian desert camel.Methods:Phage display library of 5×10 dAb clones of LPS-immunized Indian desert camel constructed in our laboratory was used for selection of S.aureus exotoxin-specific clones by panning technique.Enrichment of Ag-specific clones in successive rounds of panning was assessed by phage-ELISA and phage titration.Different dAb clones binding to S.aureus exotoxin Ags were expressed with C-terminal 6×His tag in E.coli and purified by Ni-chelate chromatography.The expression was verified by SDS-PAGE and western blotting.The purified clones were tested for inhibition of ’hot-cold’ hemolytic activity in vitro.Resistance to thermal inactivation of the dAb clones was studied by observing the effect of heat treatment from 50℃to 99℃for 30 min on the ’hot-cold’ hemolytic activity in vitro.Results:Several dAb clones binding to S.aureus exotoxins were isolated and enriched by three rounds of panning.The soluble dAb clones were approximately~16 kDa in size and reacted with 6×His tag specific murine monoclonal antibody in western blot.One of the Ni-chelate affinity purified dAb.6×His clones,inhibited S.aureusβ-hemolysin activity in vitro and resisted thermal inactivation upto 991.Conclusions:An S.aureusβ-hemolysinneutralizing dAb clone of possible therapeutic potential has been isolated.Jangra Pooja Singh Ajit 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,1:2

19Clinical outcomes and gut microbiota analysis of severe alcohol-associated hepatitis patients undergoing healthy donor fecal transplant or pentoxifylline therapy:single-center experience from Kerala显示文摘Background Severe alcohol-associated hepatitis(SAH)patients with infections have a high short-term mortality rate.Gut microbiota dysbiosis plays an important role in the pathogenesis of SAH.Preliminary studies have demonstrated long-term benefits with healthy donor fecal microbiota transplantation(FMT).Data on FMT compared with pentoxifylline for SAH and relevant gut microbial changes are lacking in literature.Methods From January 2019 to February 2021,retrospective analysis of a single hospital’s records revealed 47 SAH patients undergoing FMT(100mL/day via nasoduodenal tube for 7days)and 25matched patients receiving pentoxifylline(400mg/8 h for 28days).The primary end point was a 6-month survival rate.Secondary end points included incidence of ascites,hepatic encephalopathy,infections,acute kidney injury,and gutmicrobiota changes between post-therapy groups.Biomarker discovery and network analysis were also performed to identify significant taxa of gutmicrobiota in post-treatment groups in retrospectively stored stool samples.Results All were males.The 6-month survival rate was higher in the patients undergoing FMT than in patients receiving pentoxifylline(83.0%vs 56.0%,P=0.012).At the end of 6-month follow-up,the incidences of clinically significant ascites(56.0%vs 25.5%,P=0.011),hepatic encephalopathy(40.0%vs 10.6%,P=0.003),and critical infections(52.0%vs 14.9%,P<0.001)in patients administered pentoxifylline were significantly higher than those in patients treated with FMT.At 3 months,biomarker analysis revealed a significant abundance of Bifidobacterium and Eggerthella in the FMT group and the pentoxifylline group,respectively.At 6 months,Bifidobacterium in the FMT group and pathogenic Aerococcaceae in the pentoxifylline group were notable.Network analysis showed beneficial taxa(Bifidobacterium)as a central influencer in those undergoing FMT at 6 months.Conclusions Healthy donor FMT improved survival rate and reduced liver-related complications compared with pentoxifylline.These clinical benefits were associated with favorable modulation of intestinal bacterial communities.Difficult-totreat SAH patients may be safely bridged to transplantation using FMT.Controlled trials evaluating long-term outcomes are an unmet need.Cyriac Abby Philips Rizwan Ahamed Sasidharan Rajesh Shobhit Singh Ajit Tharakan Jinsha K.Abduljaleel Philip Augustine 2022Gastroenterology Report2022,10,1:1
