Constructal optimization for geometry of cavity by taking entransy dissipation minimization as objective显示文摘The entransy dissipation extremum principle provides new warranty and criterion for optimization of heat transfer. For two cases(body with heat generation and body heated externally)of a solid conducting wall with an open cavity,a dimensionless equivalent thermal resistance based on entransy dissipation definition was taken as the optimization objective to optimize the model constructal ge- ometry.Numerical results validated the necessity and feasibility of the presented method.Comparisons of the numerical results based on minimization of dimensionless maximum thermal resistance and minimization of dimensionless equivalent thermal resistance, respectively, showed that there was no obvious difference between the two results when the volume fractionΦoccupied by cavity was small, but the difference between the two results increased with the increases ofΦand the body aspect ratio H/L for any model. The optimal cavities for bodies heated externally were more slender than those for bodies with heat generation.Heat origin had obvious effect on the global performance of heat transfer. The entransy dissipation of body heated externally increased 2―3 times than that of body with heat generation, indicating that the global performance of heat transfer weakened. The method presented herein provides some guidelines for some relevant thermal design problems. | XIE ZhiHui CHEN LinGen SUN FengRui | 2009 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,12: | 37
Constructal optimization on T-shaped cavity based on entransy dissipation minimization显示文摘The entransy dissipation extremum principle provides new warranty and criterion for optimization of heat transfer. For a heat transfer model of a rectangular solid wall with an open T-shaped cavity, a dimensionless equivalent thermal resistance based on entransy dissipation is taken as optimization objective, and constructal optimization for the model is carried out when the system volume, the cavity volume and the volume of rectangle occupied by T-shaped cavity are fixed. Numerical results indicate that the optimal geometry construct of cavity can be schemed out based on entransy dissipation extremum principle. The formulation of dimensionless global (maximum) thermal resistance presented in a literature is modified; some new rules which are different from those reported in the literature are obtained based on the minimization of the modified objective. Comparisons of the numerical results show that the optimal system constructs deduced respectively from the two thermal resistance objectives are very different. The optimization by taking equivalent thermal resistance minimization as objective can more effectively reduce mean temperature difference of heat transfer than the optimization by taking maximum thermal resistance minimization as objective, so that the performance of heat transfer for the total system can be improved. The more freedom the cavity has, the better the total system performance is. The correlations of the equivalent thermal resistance and the maximum thermal resistance of the system and three geometric degrees of freedom are found by using function fitting. | XIE ZhiHui CHEN LinGen SUN FengRui | 2009 | Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,23: | 28
Comparative study on constructal optimizations of T-shaped fin based on entransy dissipation rate minimization and maximum thermal resistance minimization显示文摘The constructal optimizations of T-shaped fin with two-dimensional heat transfer model are carried out by finite element method and taking the minimization of equivalent thermal resistance based on entransy dissipation and the minimization of maximum thermal resistance as optimization objectives, respectively. The effects of the global parameter a (integrating the coefficient of convective heat transfer, the overall area occupied by fin and its thermal conductivity) and the volume fraction ? of fin on the minimums of equivalent thermal resistance and maximum thermal resistance as well as their corresponding optimal configurations are analyzed. The comparison of the results based on the above two optimization objectives is conducted. The results show that the optimal structures based on the two optimization objectives are obviously different from each other. Compared with the optimization result by taking the minimization of maximum thermal resistance as the objective, the optimization result by taking the equivalent thermal resistance minimization as the objective can reduce the average temperature difference in the fin obviously. The increases of a and ? can all improve the working status of local hot spot and the global heat transfer performance of the system. But the improvement effects of the increases of a and ? on the minimization of equivalent thermal resistance are different from those on the minimization of maximum thermal resistance. For either objective, the effect of a is different from that of ?. The T-shaped fin with minimum equivalent thermal resistance is much taller than that with minimum maximum thermal resistance; for either optimization objective, the stem of fin is thicker than the branches of fin, and the stem thickness is relatively close to branch thickness when the minimization of equivalent thermal resistance is taken as the optimization objective. The T-shaped fin with flat stem and slender branches can benefit the reduction of the maximum thermal resistance. | XIE ZhiHui CHEN LinGen SUN FengRui | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,5: | 25
Constructal optimization of a vertical insulating wall based on a complex objective combining heat flow and strength显示文摘For a vertical insulating wall,a product function of heat flow and strength with power weight is introduced as the complex optimization objective to compromise between insulating performance and mechanical performance.Under the global constraints of fixed external dimensions and safety requirements, the constructal optimization of the wall is carried out by taking the complex function maximization as the objective. It is shown that the maximum of the complex-objective function and its corresponding optimal internal structure design under a certain environmental condition can be obtained by allowing the internal structure of the wall to vary(evolve)freely. The validity, effectivity and applicability of the complex function are proved by the results and the power weight parameter in the range from 0.4 to 4 can compromise between the requirements of insulating and strength simultaneously and preferably. The constructal optimization with coequal attention to heat flow and strength and the corresponding results are discussed in detail. The optimal structure design and the corresponding performance analyses under various environmental conditions of application are presented. When the change of environment is greater and the total Rayleigh number is bigger, the insulating wall with large number of cavities should be employed. When the total Rayleigh number is small, the better performance can be obtained by reasonably employing the insulating wall with small number of cavities. The complex function has better selfadaptability, and the results in the recent literature are special cases of this paper. | XIE ZhiHui,CHEN LinGen &SUN FengRui Postgraduate School,Naval University of Engineering,Wuhan 430033,China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,8: | 21
Constructal optimization of twice Y-shaped assemblies of fins by taking maximum thermal resistance minimization as objective显示文摘In this paper, constructal optimization of the twice Y-shaped assemblies of fins with six freedom degrees (characteristic parameters of geometry) is performed by employing finite element method and taking dimensionless maximum thermal resistance as a performance index, and the heat transfer performance of the twice Y-shaped assemblies of fins under various conditions with different freedom degrees are analyzed. The results show that the twice assemblies can improve the heat transfer performance of Y-shaped fin remarkably, and the minimum maximum thermal resistance of the twice Y-shaped assemblies of fins decreases by 36.37% compared with that of once Y-shaped assembly of fins. It is also proved again that the larger the number of freedom degrees for evolving is,the more perfect the system performance is. The effects of different characteristic parameters of geometry on the performance of the twice Y-shaped assemblies of fins are different, one should pay different attention to these parameters in practical engineering designs. The effects of two angles on the maximum thermal resistance are larger, but the optima of the two angles are robust. The effects of two height ratios on the maximum thermal resistance are more remarkable than those of two thickness ratios. | XIE ZhiHui, CHEN LinGen & SUN FengRui Postgraduate School, Naval University of Engineering, Wuhan 430033, China | 2010 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,10: | 21
Constructal entransy optimizations for insulation layer of steel rolling reheating furnace wall with convective and radiative boundary conditions显示文摘Based on the entransy dissipation extremum principle for thermal insulation process, the constructal optimizations for a plane insulation layer of the steel rolling reheating furnace wall with convective and radiative boundary conditions are carried out by taking the minimization of entransy dissipation rate as optimization objective. The optimal construct of the plane insulation layer is obtained. The results show that for the convective heat transfer boundary condition, the optimal constructs of the insulation layer obtained based on the minimizations of the entransy dissipation rate and heat loss rate are obviously different.Comparing the optimal construct obtained based on the minimization of the entransy dissipation rate with that based on the minimization of the heat loss rate, the entransy dissipation rate is reduced by 5.98%,which makes the global thermal insulation performance of the insulation layer improve. For the combined convective and radiative heat transfer boundary condition, compared the insulation layer having an increasing thickness with that having constant thickness and a decreasing thickness, the entransy dissipation rates are reduced by 16.59%and39.72%,respectively,and the global thermal insulation performance of the insulation layer is greatly improved. There exits an optimal constant coefficient a2;optwhich leads to the minimum dimensionless entransy dissipation rate of the insulation layer. The difference between the optimal constant coefficients a2;optobtained based on the minimizations of the entransy dissipation rate and the maximum temperature gradient of the insulation layer is small. This makes the corresponding thermal stress obtained based on the minimum dimensionless entransy dissipation rate also be small, and the global thermal insulation performance and thermal safety of the insulation layer are improved simultaneously. The results obtained can provide some guidelines for the optimal designs of the insulation layers. | Huijun Feng Lingen Chen Zhihui Xie Fengrui Sun | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,20: | 19
Constructal optimization for H-shaped multi-scale heat exchanger based on entransy theory显示文摘Analogizing with the definition of thermal efficiency of a heat exchanger, the entransy dissipation efficiency of a heat exchanger is defined as the ratio of dimensionless entransy dissipation rate to dimensionless pumping power of the heat exchanger. For the constraints of the total tube volume and total tube surface area of the heat exchanger, the constructal optimization of an H-shaped multi-scale heat exchanger is carried out by taking entransy dissipation efficiency maximization as optimization objective, and the optimal construct of the H-shaped multi-scale heat exchanger with maximum entransy dissipation efficiency is obtained. The results show that for the specified total tube volume of the heat exchanger, the optimal constructs of the first order T-shaped heat exchanger based on the maximizations of the thermal efficiency and entransy dissipation efficiency are obviously different with the lower mass flow rates of the cold and hot fluids. For the H-shaped multi-scale heat exchanger, the entransy dissipation efficiency decreases with the increase in mass flow rate when the heat exchanger order is fixed;for the specified dimensionless mass flow rate M(M<32.9),the entransy dissipation efficiency decreases with the increase in the heat exchanger order. The performance of the multi-scale heat exchanger is obviously improved compared with that of the single-scale heat exchanger. Moreover, the heat exchanger subjected to the total tube surface area constraint is also discussed in the paper. The optimization results obtained in this paper can provide a great compromise between the heat transfer and flow performances of the heat exchanger, provide some guidelines for the optimal designs of heat exchangers, and also enrich the connotation of entransy theory. | FENG HuiJun CHEN LinGen XIE ZhiHui SUN FengRui | 2013 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,2: | 16
Constructal entransy dissipation rate minimization for helm-shaped fin with inner heat sources显示文摘A model of three-dimensional helm-shaped body composed of a helm-shaped fin and inner heat sources is built in this paper. For the specified volumes of the body, fin and heat source, the constructal optimizations of the body with single and multiple inner heat sources are implemented. The entransy-dissipation-rate-based equivalent thermal resistance(ETR) is minimized in the optimizations. It shows that for the helm-shaped body with multiple inner heat sources, there exist an optimal ratio of the heat source distance to the radius of the extended fin and a twice optimal radius ratio of the centre fin to the extended fin which lead to the double minimum dimensionless ETR. Comparing the optimal result of the body with helm-shaped fin with that with annular fin, the radius of the centre fin and the distance between the heat source and the center of the body are decreased, and the ETR is decreased by 9.57%. Essentially, the temperature gradient field of the helm-shaped body is more homogenous, and its global heat transfer performance is improved. | FENG HuiJun CHEN LinGen XIE ZhiHui SUN FengRui | 2015 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2015,58,6: | 14

Thermal insulation constructal optimization for steel rolling reheating furnace wall based on entransy dissipation extremum principle显示文摘Analogizing with the heat conduction process, the entransy dissipation extremum principle for thermal insulation process can be described as: for a fixed boundary heat flux (heat loss) with certain constraints, the thermal insulation process is optimized when the entransy dissipation is maximized (maximum average temperature difference), while for a fixed boundary temperature, the thermal insulation process is optimized when the entransy dissipation is minimized (minimum average heat loss rate). Based on the constructal theory, the constructal optimizations of a single plane and cylindrical insulation layers as well as multi-layer insulation layers of the steel rolling reheating furnace walls are carried out for the fixed boundary temperatures and by taking the minimization of entransy dissipation rate as optimization objective. The optimal constructs of these three kinds of insulation structures with distributed thicknesses are obtained. The results show that compared with the insulation layers with uniform thicknesses and the optimal constructs of the insulation layers obtained by minimum heat loss rate, the optimal constructs of the insulation layers obtained by minimum entransy dissipation rate are obviously different from those of the former two insulation layers; the optimal constructs of the insulation layers obtained by minimum entransy dissipation rate can effectively reduce the average heat loss rates of the insulation layers, and can help to improve their global thermal insulation performances. The entransy dissipation extremum principle is applied to the constructal optimizations of insulation systems, which will help to extend the application range of the entransy dissipation extremum principle. | FENG HuiJun CHEN LinGen XIE ZhiHui SUN FengRui | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,12: | 14
Generalized constructal optimization for the secondary cooling process of slab continuous casting based on entransy theory显示文摘Based on constructal theory and entransy theory,a generalized constructal optimization of a solidification heat transfer process of slab continuous casting for a specified total water flow rate in the secondary cooling zone was carried out.A complex function was taken as the optimization objective to perform the casting. The complex function was composed of the functions of the entransy dissipation and surface temperature gradient of the slab. The optimal water distribution at the sections of the secondary cooling zone were obtained. The effects of the total water flow rate in the secondary cooling zone, casting speed, superheat and water distribution on the generalized constructal optimizations of the secondary cooling process were analyzed. The results show that on comparing the optimization results obtained based on the optimal water distributions of the 8 sections in the secondary cooling zone with those based on the initial ones, the complex function and the functions of the entransy dissipation and surface temperature gradient after optimization decreased by 43.25%,5.90%and 80.60%,respectively.The quality and energy storage of the slab had obviously improved in this case. The complex function, composed of the functions of the entransy dissipation and surface temperature gradient of the slab, was a compromise between the internal and surface temperature gradients of the slab.Essentially,it is also the compromise between energy storage and quality of the slab. The'generalized constructal optimization'based on the minimum complex function can provide an optimal alternative scheme from the point of view of improving energy storage and quality for the parameter design and dynamic operation of the solidification heat transfer process of slab continuous casting. | FENG HuiJun CHEN LinGen XIE ZhiHui DING ZeMin SUN FengRui | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,4: | 14

Constructal optimization of cylindrical heat sources with forced convection based on entransy dissipation rate minimization显示文摘Based on constructal theory and entransy theory, the optimal designs of constant-and variable-cross-sectional cylindrical heat sources are carried out by taking dimensionless equivalent resistance minimization as optimization objective. The effects of the cylindrical height, the cylindrical shape and the ratio of thermal conductivity of the fin to that of the heat source are analyzed. The results show that when the volume of the heat source is fixed, there exists an optimal ratio of the center-to-centre distance of the fin and the heat source to the cylinder radius which leads to the minimum dimensionless equivalent thermal resistance. With the increase in the height of the cylindrical heat source and the ratio of thermal conductivity, the minimum dimensionless equivalent thermal resistance decreases gradually. For the heat source model with inverted variable-cross-sectional cylinder, there exist an optimal ratio of the center-to-centre distance of the fin and the heat source to the cylinder radius and an optimal radius ratio of the smaller and bigger circles of the cylindrical fin which lead to a double minimum dimensionless equivalent thermal resistance. Therefore, the heat transfer performance of the cylindrical heat source is improved by adopting the cylindrical model with variable-cross-section.The optimal constructs of the cylindrical heat source based on the minimizations of dimensionless maximum thermal resistance and dimensionless equivalent thermal resistance are different. When the thermal security is ensured, the optimal construct of the cylindrical heat source based on minimum equivalent thermal resistance can provide a new alternative scheme for the practical design of heat source. The results obtained herein enrich the work of constructal theory and entransy theory in the optimal design field of the heat sources, and they can provide some guidelines for the designs of practical heat source systems. | GONG ShuWen CHEN LinGen XIE ZhiHui FENG HuiJun SUN FengRui | 2016 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2016,59,4: | 12
A Trusted Attestation Mechanism for the Sensing Nodes of Internet of Things Based on Dynamic Trusted Measurement显示文摘Internet of things has been widely applied to industrial control, smart city and environmental protection, in these application scenarios, sensing node needs to make real-time response to the feedback control of the application layer. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor whether or not awareness nodes are trusted in real time, but the existing mechanisms for trusted certification lack the real-time measurement and tracking of the sensing node. To solve the above problems, this paper proposes a dynamic metric based authentication mechanism for sensing nodes of Internet of things. Firstly, the dynamic trustworthiness measure of the sensing nodes is carried out by introducing the computational function such as the trust function, the trustworthiness risk assessment function, the feedback control function and the active function of the sensing node. The dynamic trustworthiness measure of sensing nodes from multiple dimensions can effectively describe the change of trusted value of sensing nodes. Then, on the basis of this, a trusted attestation based on node trusted measure is realized by using the revocable group signature mechanism of local verifier. The mechanism has anonymity, unforgeability and traceability, which is proved the security in the standard model. Simulationexperiments show that the proposed trusted attestation mechanism is flexible, practical and efficient and has better attack resistance. It can effectively guarantee the reliable data transmission of nodes and realize the dynamic tracking of node reliability, which has a lower impact on system performance. | Bei Gong Yubo Wang Xiangang Liu Fazhi Qi Zhihui Sun | 2018 | China Communications2018,15,2: | 10

Active manganese oxide on MnOx-CeO2 catalysts for low-temperature NO oxidation:Characterization and kinetics study显示文摘MnO_x-CeO_2 catalysts were synthesized to investigate the active sites for NO oxidation by varying the calcination temperature. XRD and TEM results showed that cubic CeO_2 and amorphous MnO_x existed in MnO_x-CeO_2 catalysts. High temperature calcination caused the sintering of amorphous MnO_x and transforming to bulk crystalline Mn_2O_3, H_2-TPR and XPS results suggested the valence of Mn in MnO_x-CeO_2 was higher than pure MnO_x, and decreased with the increasing calcination temperature, The turnover frequency(TOF) was calculated based on the initial reducibility according to H_2-TPR quantitation and kinetic study. The TOF results indicated that the initial reducibility of amorphous MnO_x with high valence manganese ions was equivalent to the active sites for NO oxidation. It can be inferred that the amorphous MnO_x plays a key role in low-temperature NO oxidation. | Lingkun Meng Jun Wang Zhihui Sun Jinxin Zhu Hang Li Jianqiang Wang Meiqing Shen | 2018 | Journal of Rare Earths2018,36,2: | 7
Constructal entransy dissipation rate minimization of a rectangular body with nonuniform heat generation显示文摘Based on construtal theory, a nonuniform heat generation problem in a rectangular body is investigated in this paper. Entransy dissipation rate(EDR) is taken as the optimization objective. The optimal body shapes with constant and variable widths of the high conductivity channel(HCC) are derived. For the rectangular first order assembly(RFOA) with constant cross-section HCC, the shape of the RFOA and width ratio of the HCCs are optimized, and the double minimum EDR is obtained. The heat transfer performance of the RFOA becomes worse when the nonuniform coefficient increases. For the RFOA with variable cross-section HCC, the EDR of the RFOA can be minimized for four times. Compared the optimal construct based on minimum EDR of the RFOA with that based on minimum maximum temperature difference, the shape of the former optimal construct is tubbier, and the average temperature difference is lower. In the practical design of electronic devices, when the thermal safety is ensured, the constructal design scheme of the former optimal construct can be adopted to improve the global heat transfer performance of an electronic device. | FENG HuiJun CHEN LinGen XIE ZhiHui SUN FengRui | 2016 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2016,59,9: | 7
Generalized constructal optimization of strip laminar cooling process based on entransy theory显示文摘A strip laminar cooling process is investigated in this paper. Entransy theory and generalized constructal optimization are introduced into the optimization. Total water flow amount(WFA) in the laminar cooling zone(LCZ) and complex function are taken as the constraint and optimization objective, respectively. The entransy dissipation(ED) and maximum temperature different(MTD) of the strip are simultaneously considered in the complex function. WFA distributions of the headers in the LCZ are optimized. The effects of the total WFA, strip thickness and cooling water temperature on the optimal results are analyzed. The optimal cooling scheme is the eleventh cooling mode for the considered total 257 cooling schemes, and the complex function,ED and MTD of the strip are decreased by 11.59%, 5.59% and 17.58% compared with the initial cooling scheme, respectively. The total WFA and strip thickness have the obvious influences on the optimal cooing scheme, but the cooling water temperature has no influence in the parameter analysis range of this paper. | 20 | A Passive Method to Control Combustion Instabilities with Perforated Liner显示文摘The effectiveness of perforated liner with bias flow on the control of combustion instability is investigated.Combustion instabilities result from the coupling between acoustic waves and unsteady combustion heat release.Sometimes the phenomenon happens in afterburners of aeroengine and rocket engine, and it always causes damage to flame holders, liner sections and other engine components.Passive methods, such as perforated liner, are often used to suppress such instabilities in application. In this article, first,a burner testbed is built in order to study the characteristic of this phenomenon. The unstable frequencies and unstable area are investigated experimentally. Then an analytical model, based on 'transfer element method',is developed and the numerical results are compared with those from experiments. At last the perforated liner is applied to the burner to suppress the instabilities. The results show that the sound pressure can be greatly reduced by the perforated liner. | Li Lei Guo Zhihui Zhang Chengyu Sun Xiaofeng | 2010 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2010,23,6: | 6
