6Potential application of particle based simulations in reservoir security management显示文摘In order to model the movement progress in case of risks such as dam collapse and coastal inundation, particle-based simulation methods, including the discrete-element method and smoothed particle hydrodynamics, which have specific advantages in modeling complex three-dimensional environmental fluid and particulate flows, are adopted as an effective way to illustrate environmental applications possibly happening in the real world. The theory of these methods and their relative advantages compared with traditional methods are discussed. Examples of 3-D flows on realistic topography including the flooding of a river valley as a result of a dam collapse and coastal inundation by a tsunami are introduced. Issues related to validation and quality data availability are also discussed. The results show that the simulations provide a valuable insight in a given situation for the security management of reservoir dams. 8Degradation and detoxification mechanisms of organophosphorus flame retardant tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl)phosphate(TDCPP)during electrochemical oxidation process显示文摘Electrochemical oxidation of aqueous tris(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl)phosphate(TDCPP)by using Ti/SnO_(2)-Sb/La-PbO_(2)as anode was investigated for the first time,and the degradation mechanisms and toxicity changes of the degradation intermediates were further determined.Results suggested that electrochemical degradation of TDCPP followed pseudo-first-order kinetics,and the reaction rate constant(k)was 0.0332 min^(−1)at the applied current density of 10 mA/cm^(2)and Na_(2)SO_(4)concentration of 10 mmol/L.There was better TDCPP degradation performance at higher current density.Free hydroxy radical(•OH)was proved to play dominant role in TDCPP oxidation via quenching experiment,with a relative contribution rate of 60.1%.A total of five intermediates(M1,C_(6)H_(11)Cl_(4)O_(4)P;M2,C_(3)H_(7)Cl_(2)O_(4)P;M3,C_(9)H_(16)Cl_(5)O_(5)P;M4,C_(9)H_(14)Cl_(5)O_(6)P;M5,C_(6)H_(10)Cl_(3)O_(6)P)were identified,and the intermediates were further degraded prolonging with the reaction time.Flow cytometer results suggested that the toxicity of TDCPP and degradation intermediates significantly reduced,and the detoxification efficiency was achieved at 78.1%at 180 min.ECOSAR predictive model was used to assess the relative toxicity of TDCPP and the degradation intermediates.The EC_(50)to green algae was 3.59 mg/L for TDCPP,and the values raised to 84,574,54.6,391,and 8920 mg/L for M1,M2,M3,M4,and M5,respectively,indicating that the degradation intermediates are less toxic or not toxic.Electrochemical advanced oxidation process is a valid technology to degrade TDCPP and pose a good detoxification effect.Shaoyu Tang Zhujun Luo Jianbo Liao Zhun Liu Lei Xu Junfeng Niu 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,8:0
9Concentrations of phthalates metabolites in blood and semen and the potential effects on semen concentration and motility among residents of the Pearl River Delta region in China显示文摘Exposure to phthalate acid esters(PAEs)has been found to have adverse effects on reproduction of human and animal.However,the effects on the semen quality are controversial.In this study,we have collected paired blood and sperm samples from patients(n=103)at a medical clinic in Guangzhou,China,to determine the concentrations of eight phthalate metabolites∑8m-PAEs).The concentration ranges of P8m-PAEs were 2.7-55 and 0.99-17 ng/mL in blood and semen samples,respectively.MEHP(median,3.6 ng/mL in blood and 0.55 ng/mL in semen)and MnOP(median,3.4 ng/mL in blood and 0.69 ng/mL in semen)were the predominant analytes in both blood and semen samples.However,analytes were not correlated in paired blood and semen.Semen motility was significantly associated to the concentrations of∑8m-PAEs in semen,but it did not associate to the concentrations of PAEs in blood.Multi-linear regression analysis,including concentrations of PAEs in both blood and semen,as well as BMI,occupation,living habits,suggested that exposure to PAEs at current environmental levels had very limited effects on semen quality of population in Guangzhou,China.Xiaofei Song Qiongfang Zhuo Shaoyu Tang Tianfa Xie Zhiyuan Chen Zhijun Zang Yanan Zhang Xiaojun Niu Hua Yin Feng Zeng Chang He 2020Emerging Contaminants2020,6,1:0
