1Effect of a Traditional Chinese Medicine combined therapy on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis:a randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness of a combined Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) therapy versus conventional treatment on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.METHODS:One hundred twenty outpatients with mild and moderate adolescent idiopathic scoliosis were randomly divided into a TCM group(TCMG)and a brace group(CG).TCMG patients underwent Daoyin,Tuina,and acupotomology therapies.CG patients were treated with a Milwaukee brace.Each patient's Cobb angle was measured after 12 and 24 months of treatment,and pulmonary function was determined after 12 months of treatment.Average electromyogram(AEMG) ratio of the surface electromyogram was measured after 6 and 12 months of treatment and followed-up after 18 and 24 months.RESULTS:The Cobb angle significantly decreased in both groups after 12 months of treatment compared with before treatment(P< 0.05).The percentages of original Cobb angle in TCMG and CG were51.4%and 47.8%(P > 0.05) after 12 months and62.5%and 34.7%(P < 0.05) after 24 months,respectively.Pulmonary function significantly improved after 12 months in TCMG(P < 0.05) but significantly decreased in CG(P < 0.05).The AEMG ratio was significantly lower(P < 0.01) and tended to remain at1 after stopping treatment in TCMG,but increased in CG(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:TCM combined therapy can prevent the progression of scoliosis.The AEMG ratio is a promising index that could replace radiography in the evaluation of treatment effect and progression in scoliosis.Wei Hui Xu Jinyuan Jiang Zhong Ye Shuliang Song Hongquan Ning Xitao Huang Huanmin Chen Wei Pei Jianwei Jiang Nengyi Chen Shao Du Honggen 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,5:9

6Experimental investigation on oil-gas separator of air-conditioning systems显示文摘The oil-return system plays an important role in the variable refrigerant flow (VRP) systems because it ensures the reliable operation of the VRF systems. The oil-gas separator is the most essential component of the oil- return system, and the separation efficiency of the separator directly influences the performance of the VRF systems. Therefore, in this paper, a test rig was built to measure the oil discharge ratio of the compressor and the separation efficiency of the oil-gas separator. A sound velocity transducer was used to measure the oil mass concentration instantaneously, because the sound velocity was changed with the mass ratio of oil to refrigerant. 7Low selenium and reduced cognitive function in a cohort elderly study显示文摘Cognitive function in the elderly is affected by various environmental, social, and individual factors. Studies show that chemical trace elements are closely related to cognitive function. As a protective factor, selenium promotes cognition in the elderly. However, study results into the effects of selenium on cognition have varied. By eliminating unstable environmental and other related factors, the present study selected elderly individuals from rural areas of the Shandong province to verify whether low selenium exposure is a risk factor for decreased cognitive function. Results demonstrated that age, sex, education, occupation, hypertension, stroke, and body selenium levels were factors affecting cognitive function in the elderly, and that selenium was an important protective factor. 9Construction of Synergistic Co and Cu Diatomic Sites for Enhanced Higher Alcohol Synthesis显示文摘Higher alcohol synthesis(HAS)from syngas could efficiently alleviate the dependence on the traditional fossil resources.However,it is still challenging to construct high-performance HAS catalysts with satisfying selectivity,space–time yield(STY),and stability.Herein,we designed a diatomic catalyst by anchoring Co and Cu sites onto a hierarchical porous N-doped carbon matrix(Co/Cu–N–C).The Co/Cu–N–C is efficient for HAS and is among the best catalysts reported.With a COconversion of 81.7%,C2+OHselectivity could reach 58.5%with an outstanding C2+OH STY of 851.8 mg/g·h.We found that the N4–Co1 and Cu1–N4 showed an excellent synergistic effect.The adsorption of CO occurred on the Co site,and the surrounding nitrogen sites served as a hydrogen reservoir for the CO reduction reactions to form CHxCo.Meanwhile,the Cu sites stabilized a CHOCu species to interact with CHxCo,facilitating a barrier-free formation of C2 species,which is responsible for the high selectivity of higher alcohols.Gaofeng Chen Olga A.Syzgantseva Maria A.Syzgantseva Shuliang Yang Guihua Yan Li Peng Changyan Cao Wenxing Chen Zhiwei Wang Fengjuan Qin Tingzhou Lei Xianhai Zeng Lu Lin Weiguo Song Buxing Han 2023CCS Chemistry2023,5,4:0
