| 1 | Study on fire extinguishing performance of ultrafine water mist in a cup burner显示文摘Two simplified models for predicting minimum extinguishing concentration(MEC) of ultrafine water mist(UFM)(<10 m) were developed based on limiting oxygen concentration(LOC) and combustion limit temperature(CLT),respectively.Experiment was conducted using a modified cup burner which can reduce the surface adsorption of UFM.Two typical liquid fuels,n-heptane and ethanol,were used in the experiment.Tests using the same scenario were repeated 20 times or 10 times according to the variance of extinguishing time.The average and the standard deviations of extinguishing time were used to evaluate the fire extinguishing performance of UFM.Experimental results agree well with the model based on LOC,and disagree with the model based on CLT.The disagreements were explained by analyzing flow behavior of UFM.It was concluded that the primary mechanism of fire extinguishment with UFM was oxygen dilution. | LIANG TianShui LIAO GuangXuan LU SiuMing WANG XiShi | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,7: | 2 |
| 2 | Privacy-preserving edge-assisted image retrieval and classification in IoT显示文摘Internet of Things (IoT) has drawn much attention in recent years. However, the image data captured by IoT terminal devices are closely related to users, personal information, which are sensitive and should be protected. Though traditional privacy-preserving outsourced computing solutions such as homomorphic cryptographic primitives can support privacy-preserving computing, they consume a significant amount of computation and storage resources. Thus, it becomes a heavy burden on IoT terminal devices with limited resources. In order to reduce the resource consumption of terminal device, we propose an edge-assisted privacy-preserving outsourced computing framework for image processing, including image retrieval and classification. The edge nodes cooperate with the terminal device to protect data and support privacy-preserving computing on the semitrusted cloud server. Under this framework, edge-assisted privacy-preserving image retrieval and classification schemes are proposed in this paper. | 11 | Correlation of rate of gas temperature rise with mass loss rate in a ceiling vented compartment显示文摘n-heptane pool fire and industrial alcohol pool fire in a ceiling vented compartment were studied experimentally. The parameters including mass loss rate and rate of gas temperature rise were investigated. The results suggest that the rate of gas temperature rise, whose variations were highly coincident with those of the mass loss rate, minimized at the moment of extinction. The correlation of the rate of average nondimensional temperature rise with mass loss rate was established. It was found that the rate of average nondimensional temperature rise may be correlated with mass loss rate via the gas heat absorption coefficient which was found to be a quadratic function of the nondimensional heat release rate for the ceiling vented compartment under study.
