| 1 | CO_2 Density-Raman Shift Relation Derived from Synthetic Inclusions in Fused Silica Capillaries and Its Application显示文摘The densities of CO_2 inclusions in minerals are commonly used to determine the crystallizing conditions of the host minerals.However,conventional microthermometry is difficult to apply for inclusions of small size(<5-10μm) or low density.Raman analysis is an alternative method for determining CO_2 density,provided that the CO_2 density-Raman shift relation is known.This study aims to establish this CO_2 density-Raman shift relation by using CO_2 inclusions synthesized in fused silica capillaries.By using this newly-developed synthetic technique,we formed pure CO_2 inclusions,and their densities were determined by microthermometry.The Raman analysis showed that the relation between CO_2 density(D in g/cm3) and the separations(△in cm^(-1)) between the two main bands(i.e.Fermi diad bands) in CO_2 Raman spectra can be represented by a cubic equation:D (g/cm^3)=0.74203(-0.019⊿~3+5.90332⊿~2-610.79472⊿+21050.30165)-3.54278(r^2=0.99920).Our calculated D value for a given⊿ is between those obtained from two previously-reported equations,which were derived from different experimental methods.An example was given in this study to demonstrate that the densities of natural CO_2 inclusions that could not be derived from microthermometry could be determined by using our method. | SONG Yucai CHOU I'Ming HU Wenxuan Burruss ROBERT LU Wanjun | 2009 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2009,83,5: | 9 |
| 2 | Clinicopathologic factors influencing the accuracy of EUS for superficial esophageal carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To identify clinicopathologic factors influencing the accuracy of a high-frequency catheter probe endoscopic ultrasonography(EUS)for superficial esophageal carcinomas(SECs).METHODS:A total of 126 patients with endoscopically suspected SEC,who underwent EUS and curative treatment at Pusan National University Hospital during2005-2013,were enrolled.We reviewed the medical records of the 126 patients and compared EUS findings with histopathologic results according to clinicopathologic factors.RESULTS:A total of 114 lesions in 113 patients were included in the final analysis.The EUS assessment of tumor invasion depth was accurate in 78.9%(90/114)patients.Accuracy did not differ according to histologic type,tumor differentiation,tumor location,or macroscopic shape.However,accuracy significantly decreased for tumors≥3 cm in size(P=0.002).Overestimation and underestimation of the invasion depth occurred for 11(9.6%)and 13 lesions(11.4%),respectively.In multivariate analyses,tumor size≥3 cm was the only factor significantly associated with EUS accuracy(P=0.031),and was specifically associated with the underestimation of invasion depth.CONCLUSION:EUS using a high-frequency catheter probe generally provides highly accurate assessments of SEC invasion depth,but its accuracy decreases for tumors≥3 cm. | Jung Im Jung Gwang Ha Kim Hoseok I Do Youn Park Tae Kyun Kim Young Hwa Cho Yong Wan Sung Mun Ki Choi Bong Eun Lee Geun Am Song | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,20: | 9 |
| 3 | Is obesity associated with gastropharyngeal reflux disease?显示文摘AIM: To examine the association between obesity and gastropharyngeal reflux disease (GPRD) as well as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study of consecutive patients undergoing ambulatory 24-h dual-probe pH monitoring from July 2003 to December 2006. The association between body mass index (BMI) and parameters about gastroesophageal or gastropharyngeal reflux was examined in univariate and multivariate analyses.RESULTS: A total of 769 patients (307 men and 462 women; mean age 50.7 years) were finally enrolled. Most variables showing gastroesophageal reflux was higher in the obese patients than the patients with normal BMI. There was no difference in all the variables showing gastropharyngeal reflux according to the BMI. After adjustment for age, sex, alcohol intake and smoking, obese patients demonstrated an about 2-fold increase in risk of GERD compared with patients with normal BMI (OR, 1.9; 95 CI, 1.3-2.9), but overweight patients did not demonstrate increased risk of GERD (OR, 1.2; 95 CI, 0.8-1.7). | 4 | Integrative taxonomy of the Russet Bush Warbler Locustella mandelli complex reveals a new species from central China显示文摘Background: The Russet Bush Warbler Locustella(previously Bradypterus) mandelli complex occurs in mountains in the eastern Himalayas, southern China, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The taxonomy has been debated,with one(L. seebohmi) to four(L. seebohmi, L. mandelli, L. montis and L. timorensis) species having been recognised.Methods: We used an integrative approach, incorporating analyses of morphology, vocalizations and a molecular marker, to re-evaluate species limits in the L. mandelli complex.Results: We found that central Chinese L. mandelli differed from those from India through northern Southeast Asia to southeast China in plumage, morphometrics and song. All were easily classified by song, and(wing + culmen)/tail ratio overlapped only marginally. Both groups were reciprocally monophyletic in a mitochondrial cytochrome b(cytb) gene tree, with a mean divergence of 1.0 ± 0.2%. They were sympatric and mostly altitudinally segregated in the breeding season in southern Sichuan province. We found that the Mt Victoria(western Myanmar) population differed vocally from other L. mandelli, but no specimens are available. Taiwan Bush Warbler L. alishanensis was sister to the L. mandelli complex, with the most divergent song. Plumage, vocal and cytb evidence supported the distinctness of the south Vietnamese L. mandelli idonea. The Timor Bush Warbler L. timorensis, Javan Bush Warbler L.montis and Benguet Bush Warbler L. seebohmi differed distinctly in plumage, but among-population song variation in L. montis exceeded the differences between some populations of these taxa, and mean pairwise cytb divergences were only 0.5–0.9%. We also found that some L. montis populations differed morphologically.Conclusions: We conclude that the central Chinese population of Russet Bush Warbler represents a new species,which we describe herein, breeding at mid elevations in Sichuan, Shaanxi, Hubei, Hunan and Guizhou provinces.The taxonomic status of the other allopatric populations is less clear. However, as they differ to a degree comparable with that of the sympatric L. mandelli and the new species, we elevate L. idonea to species status, and retain L. seebohmi and L. montis as separate species, the latter with timorensis as a subspecies. | 5 | Direct observation of localized surface plasmon field enhancement by Kelvin probe force microscopy显示文摘A surface plasmon(SP)is a fundamental excitation state that exists in metal nanostructures.Over the past several years,the performance of optoelectronic devices has been improved greatly via the SP enhancement effect.In our previous work,the responsivity of GaN ultraviolet detectors was increased by over 30 times when using Ag nanoparticles.However,the physics of the SP enhancement effect has not been established definitely because of the lack of experimental evidence.To reveal the physical origin of this enhancement,Kelvin probe force microscopy(KPFM)was used to observe the SP-induced surface potential reduction in the vicinity of Ag nanoparticles on a GaN epilayer.Under ultraviolet illumination,the localized field enhancement induced by the SP forces the photogenerated electrons to drift close to the Ag nanoparticles,leading to a reduction of the surface potential around the Ag nanoparticles on the GaN epilayer.For an isolated Ag nanoparticle with a diameter of~200 nm,the distribution of the SP localized field is located within 60 nm of the boundary of the Ag nanoparticle.For a dimer of Ag nanoparticles,the localized field enhancement between the nanoparticles was the strongest.The results presented here provide direct experimental proof of the localized field enhancement.These results not only explain the high performance of GaN detectors observed with the use of Ag nanoparticles but also reveal the physical mechanism of SP enhancement in optoelectronic devices,which will help us further understand and improve the performance of SP-based optoelectronic devices in the future. | Da-Bing Li Xiao-Juan Sun Yu-Ping Jia Mark I Stockman Hari P Paudel Hang Song Hong Jiang Zhi-Ming Li | 2017 | Light(Science & Applications)2017,6,1: | 2 |
