1Estimates of genetic and phenotypic parameters for weight and length in Paralichthys olivaceus(Temminck et Schlegel)显示文摘The complete diallel cross design was employed to estimate the genetic parameters of the growth of Japanese flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus). A total of 60 full-sib families were cultivated and two growth-related traits, body weight (BW) and body length (BL), were examined at average 2, 3 and 8 months of age respectively, with 1 800 individuals measured in each age group (30 per family). Based on the additive-dominance-maternal-effect genetic analysis model, the restricted maximum likelihood approach was used to estimate various (co)variance components. The results showed that narrow-sense heritability estimates of BW and BL were respectively: 0.29 ± 0.01 and 0.22 ± 0.02 at 2 months of age, 0.32 ± 0.02 and 0.30 ± 0.04 at 3 months of age, 0.48 ± 0.04 and 0.40 ± 0.05 at 8 months of age; broad-sense heritability estimates were respectively: 0.44 ± 0.02 and 0.54 ± 0.04 at 2 months of age, 0.35 ± 0.01 and 0.36 ± 0.03 at 3 months of age, 0.49 ± 0.03 and 0.45 ± 0.04. All heritabilities were statistically significant (P <0.05). Additive genetic correlations between BW and BL at 2, 3 and 8 months of age were consistently positive and highly significant (P <0.01): 0.93 ± 0.02, 0.95 ± 0.03 and 0.92 ± 0.03 respectively. Maternal effect was significant (P <0.05) only at 2 months of age, and was not detected at 3 and 8 months of age. 2Alzheimer's disease treated with combined therapy based on nourishing marrow and reinforcing Qi显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To study the efficacy and safety of combined Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) therapy based on nourishing marrow to improve intellect and reinforcing Qi to activate bloodon mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease(AD).METHODS:Sixty-six patients with AD,whoseMini-Mental State Examination(MMSE) score were from 10-24,were randomized equally into an intervention group and a control group.The control group was given Aricept(5 mg,once daily).The intervention group was further divided into Yang-Qi deficiency(n = 18) and of Yin-Qi deficiency(n = 15)subgroups.Patients in the Yang-Qi deficiency group were intravenously administered Shenfu injection,60 mL,and deproteinized calf blood injection(DCBl),1.2 g,once daily.The Yin-Qi deficiency group was given Shenmai injection,60 mL,and DCBl,1.2 g,once daily.Each course lasted 21 days.RESULTS:Compared with the control group and with pre-treatment in the same group,MMSE,clinical dementia rating,and activities of daily living scale scores in the intervention group were significantly improved(all P<0.05).These metrics mildly improved in the control group compared with before treatment(P>0.05).No adverse effects were observed in any group during treatment.CONCLUSION:We found that combined TCM therapy is effective and safe for managing mild to moderate AD.Chen Songlin Yao Xiaoli Liang Yinying Mei Weiyi Liu Xiaoyun Zhang Changran 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,3:4
3Mechanical properties and thermal stability of carbon fiber cloth reinforced sol-derived mullite composites显示文摘For the wide application as thermal protection materials,it is very necessary for mullite ceramics to improve fracture toughness.In this paper,the laminated and stitched carbon fiber cloth preform reinforced mullite(C/mullite)composites were prepared through the route of sol impregnation and heat treatment using the Al2O3-SiO2 sol with a high solid content as raw materials.The C/mullite composites showed a flexural strength of 228.9 MPa that was comparable to that of dense monolithic mullite although the total porosity reached 13.4%.Especially,a fracture toughness of 11.2 MPa·m1/2that was 4–5 times that of dense monolithic mullite was obtained.Strength deterioration due to the carbothermal reduction between carbon fiber and the residual SiO2 in matrix was found above 1200℃.A pyrolytic C(Py C)coating was deposited on carbon fibers as interfacial coating.The chemical damage to carbon fibers was obviously alleviated by the sacrifice of PyC coating.Accordingly,the C/PyC/mullite composites kept strength unchanged up to 1500℃,and showed much higher strength retention ratio than C/mullite composites after annealing at 1600℃.Wei ZHANG Qingsong MA Kuanhong ZENG Songlin LIANG Weiguo MAO 2019Journal of Advanced Ceramics2019,8,2:2

5Nitrate increases cisplatin chemosensitivity of oral squamous cell carcinoma via REDD1/AKT signaling pathway显示文摘Although cisplatin is one of the chemotherapeutics most frequently used in oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC)treatment,it exerts multiple side effects and poor chemosensitivity.Nitrate reportedly demonstrates several beneficial biological functions,and synthesized nitrates enhance the therapeutic efficacy of chemotherapy.However,the role of inorganic nitrate in cisplatin chemotherapy remains unclear.We therefore investigated the effect of inorganic nitrate exerted on cisplatin sensitivity in OSCC.We found that nitrate did not affect OSCC cell growth and apoptosis in OSCC cells and OSCC xenograft tumor animal studies.Cisplatin induced REDD1 expression and AKT activation in OSCC.However,nitrate could increase cisplatin chemosensitivity,reduce its REDD1 expression,and attenuate AKT signaling activation in OSCC cells.Dysregulation of high levels of REDD1,which could enhance AKT activation,was positively associated with poor prognosis in OSCC patients.Thus,reduced REDD1 expression and retarded AKT activation induced by inorganic nitrate might be a new potential approach to the sensitization of oral cancer to cisplatin treatment in the future.Yuanyong Feng Xuedi Cao Bin Zhao Chunyan Song Baoxing Pang Liang Hu Chunmei Zhang Jinsong Wang Junqi He Songlin Wang 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,11:2

9Sweat-Driven Silk-yarn Switches Enabled by Highly Aligned Gaps for Air-conditioning Textiles显示文摘Smart textiles are attracting great interest.Particularly,air-conditioning textiles are highly desired for their merits in energy conservation and personal temperature/humidity management.Currently,air-conditioning textiles can be fabricated by two strategies.One uses infrared-radiation-adaptive materials,and the other uses moisture-responsive actuators that can regulate temperature and humidity simultaneously.Here,the fabrication of a silk-yarn switch comprising electrospun highly aligned nanofibers is reported and its application in air-conditioning textiles is demonstrated.Silk yarn rotates in contact with liquid,and can be recovered by drying.The different responses and wetting behaviors of the switch to H_(2)O and C_(2)H_(6)O is investigated.It is argued that alignment and surface hydrophilicity of nanofibers play important roles in this term.To elaborate,actuating trait is mainly controlled by reduction of the surface free energy of aligned silk nanofibers,during the wetting process.As proof of concept,the application of the sweat-driven silk-yarn switch in regulating the temperature/humidity of the human body is demonstrated in this work.Considering the large production,versatile processibility,and good biocompatibility,silk actuator may have practical applications in designing smart switches(or valves)for intelligent textiles,artificial muscles,and other application scenarios.Zhe Yin Songlin Shi Xiaoping Liang Mingchao Zhang Quanshui Zheng Yingying Zhang 2019Advanced Fiber Materials2019,1,3:1

13Determination of groundwater buoyancy reduction coefficient in clay:Model tests,numerical simulations and machine learning methods显示文摘Groundwater plays an essential role in stabilizing underground structures.However,hydrostatic uplift forces from groundwater can create safety hazards.This paper obtained the groundwater buoyancy reduction coefficients of 36 types of clays through model tests and conducted a finite element simulation to obtain the buoyancy reduction coefficients of additional clays with varying soil properties.Machine learning methods,including extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost)and random forest(RF)algorithms,were used to analyze and identify the soil parameters that have a significant impact on the reduction of groundwater buoyancy.It was found that the permeability coefficient and saturation are the primary factors that influence the reduction of groundwater buoyancy.Additionally,the prediction models developed by XGBoost and RF were compared,and their accuracy was evaluated.These research findings can serve as a reference for designing underground structures that can withstand the potential risk of buoyancy in clay.Weixin Sun Hanlong liu Wengang Zhang Songlin liu Liang Han 2023Underground Space2023,,6:0
14Leprosy without typical skin involvement but with concurrent tuberculosis: a case report显示文摘Leprosy is characterized by skin lesions and peripheral nerve damage. It may take a long time before the diagnosis can be confirmed if the patients have no typical skin involvements. Here we report an unusual case. A 40-year-old male with lepromatous leprosy showed a gradual onset of bilateral symmetrical neuropathies without characteristic skin manifestations seven years after onset and with pulmonary tuberculosis simultaneously. He was misdiagnosed as having Guillani-Barré syndrome and systemic necrotizing vasculitis for 10 years until the skin biopsy was performed. 16Insulin-like growth factor binding proteins 7 prevents dental pulp-derived mesenchymal stem cell senescence via metabolic downregulation of p21显示文摘Cellular senescence affects the efficacy of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)-mediated tissue regeneration.Insulin-like growth factor binding proteins-7(IGFBP7),as a member of the IGF family,is associated with osteogenic differentiation and the senescence of MSCs,but its exact function and mechanism remain unclear.We found IGFBP7 promoted the osteogenic differentiation and prevented the senescence of dental pulp-derived MSCs(DPSCs),as observed in the gain-of-function and lossof-function analyses,the senescence-associated marker p21 showed the most pronounced expression changes.We demonstrated that IGFBP7 activated the biological activity of SIRT1 deacetylase via metabolism,resulting in a deacetylation of H3K36ac and a decrease of the binding affinity of H3K36ac to p21 promoter,thereby reducing the transcription of p21,which ultimately prevents DPSCs senescence and promotes tissue regeneration.The activation of the mitochondrial electron transport chain(ETC)by Coenzyme Q10 could rescue the promotion of DPSC senescence induced by the knockdown of IGFBP7,whereas the inhibition of ETC by rotenone attenuated the prevention of DPSC senescence induced by IGFBP7 overexpression.In conclusion,our present results reveal a novel function of IGFBP7 in preventing DPSC senescence via the metabolism-induced deacetylation of H3K36ac and reduction of p21 transcription,suggesting that IGFBP7 is a potential target for promoting tissue regeneration in an aging environment.Xiaoyu Li Liang Feng Chunmei Zhang Jinsong Wang Songlin Wang Lei Hu 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,11:0
