2Retinal circulation and its role in macular disorders in patients without systemic disease显示文摘AIM: To determine whether retinal circulatory changes play a role in the pathogenesis of macular disorders in patients who are otherwise healthy. METHODS: Patients with macular disorders that required angiographic imaging were included in this prospective case series. After a complete ocular exam,fluorescein angiography was performed using a standardized technique on the HRA-II(Heidelberg Engineering, Heidelberg, Germany) with special focus on the posterior pole. Only patients with good quality images were included in the analysis. Circulatory parameters recorded included the arm-choroid time,choroid-retinal artery, and finally the retinal artery-vein time. Zonal asymmetry(between the upper and lower zones divided by a line passing through the centre of the fovea) in transit times, if any was also noted. Appropriate statistical analysis was done. Circulation times were compared with age matched historical controls. Changes in retinal dye transit times relative to historical age matched controls, if any, were noted and compared between various disorders.RESULTS: A total of 156 eyes of 156 patients(120 males)were included in the study. Mean age: 49.14 ±14.93 y.Macular disorders studied were age related degeneration,polypoidal vasculopathy, central serous chorioretinopathy(CSCR) and parafoveal telangiectasia. 3Sequence Stratigraphic Model of Middle Permian Barakar Formation from a Marginal Gondwana Basin, India显示文摘Gondwana deposits are extensively found across the continents. Here we study the Middle Permian Barakar Formation from the marginal Gondwana Basin, eastern India, being deposited in a normal fault setting. Availability of extensive cores as well as geophysical log suites(gammaresistivity-density from drilled wells) from the study area helped us achieving high resolution interpretation. Core study identifies fluvial sedimentary architectures, which were correlated with the geophysical logs and modeled field-wide to understand vertical and horizontal facies disposition. The facies analysis has been used to establish a sequence stratigraphic model of the cyclic Barakar deposition. Four major fining upward depositional sequences were identified, each sequence comprises of low accommodation system tract(LAST) at base and high accommodation system tract(HAST) at top. LAST is characterized by vertically stacked, multistory amalgamated channel sandstone dominated facies, while floodplain dominated facies characterizes HAST, reflecting a gradual shift from braided to meandering depositional system from bottom to top of each cycle. 5Endophytic fungi harbored in Cannabis sativa L.:diversity and potential as biocontrol agents against host plant-specific phytopathogens显示文摘The objective of the present work was isolation,phylogenetic characterization,and assessment of biocontrol potential of endophytic fungi harbored in various tissues(leaves,twigs,and apical and lateral buds)of the medicinal plant,Cannabis sativa L.A total of 30 different fungal endophytes were isolated from all the plant tissues which were authenticated by molecular identification based on rDNA ITS sequence analysis(ITS1,5.8S and ITS2 regions).The Menhinick’s index revealed that the buds were immensely rich in fungal species,and Camargo’s index showed the highest tissue-specific fungal dominance for the twigs.The most dominant species was Penicillium copticola that could be isolated from the twigs,leaves,and apical and lateral buds.A detailed calculation of Fisher’s log series index,Shannon diversity index,Simpson’s index,Simpson’s diversity index,and Margalef’s richness revealed moderate overall biodiversity of C.sativa endophytes distributed among its tissues.The fungal endophytes were challenged by two host phytopathogens,Botrytis cinerea and Trichothecium roseum,devising a dual culture antagonistic assay on five different media.We observed 11 distinct types of pathogen inhibition encompassing a variable degree of antagonism(%)on changing the media.This revealed the potential chemodiversity of the isolated fungal endophytes not only as promising resources of biocontrol agents against the known and emerging phytopathogens of Cannabis plants,but also as sustainable resources of biologically active and defensive secondary metabolites.Parijat Kusari Souvik Kusari Michael Spiteller Oliver Kayser 2013Fungal Diversity2013,,3:2
