Determination of time-dependent strengths of salt pillars based on strain energy principle显示文摘The objective of this study is to determine the time-dependent strengths of salt mine pillars in the Maha Sarakham formation, northeast of Thailand. Strain rate-controlled triaxial compression tests have been performed on salt specimens under confining pressures from 0 MPa to 12 MPa. The strain rates are from 10^(-7) s^(-1) to 10^(-4) s^(-1). The axial stresses and lateral strains are monitored through the strain-softening region. The results indicate that the strengths and elastic moduli increase exponentially with the strain rates. The power creep law parameters are calibrated with the test results, and hence allows constructing series of strain-time curves for the salt pillars under different depths and extraction ratios. The strain energy density principle is applied to develop a strength criterion for the salt pillars. Combining this criterion with the series of the strain-time curves the time-dependent strengths of the salt pillars for different extraction ratios can be predicted. | Prapasiri Junthong Supattra Khamrat Suratwadee Sartkaew Kittitep Fuenkajorn | 2019 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2019,29,2: | 1

Elucidating authorship issues as an element of research quality at Thailand’s National Science and Technology Development Agency显示文摘Authorship in a scientific publication is an indicator of significant intellectual contribution in scientific work.Regardless of the discipline,it is important for research-related personnel to receive credit and take responsibility for their publications. There are currently several systems of listing authorship that arise from many factors such as research complexity, pressure to obtain funding, hierarchical structure, and promotion. Some of these may unfortunately lead to authorship abuse.Raising awareness and understanding of authorship guidelines can help prevent abuses and disputes.National Science and Technology Development Agency(NSTDA)is a national research agency of Thailand with about 2000 research staff members. The research emphasis of the agency is mainly technology development for application in broad areas, ranging from engineering to medicine, including forensic science. We conducted a survey to identify the level of awareness of NSTDA research staff and their authorship practices.A questionnaire was designed based on the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors(ICMJE)authorship guidelines and used to survey 15%of randomly selected NSTDA research staff.Nearly 90%of them responded to the interview.Among the respondents,60%were not sure about authorship criteria. When presented with the ICMJE criteria, more than 90%agreed with the criteria except for the third one, approval of the final manuscript before submission,33%of respondents thought that authors are only responsible for their particular contribution. However, nearly 80%agreed that every author is responsible for the integrity of the whole manuscript. These results offered an important foundation for forming a strategy to raise awareness about authorship in NSTDA.Following survey analysis,we organized several seminars and developed learning materials and an authorship guideline to increase the level of awareness of authorship for researchers. | Sudarat Luepongpattana Aviga Soonmongkol Supattra Laorrattanasak Ansucha Prucksunand Prasit Palittapongarnpim | 2021 | Forensic Sciences Research2021,6,3: | 1

Methane production from Sargassum muticum:effects of seasonality and of freshwater washes显示文摘Biogas production from Sargassum muticum,an invasive seaweed species to Europe,is hampered by low methane(CH_(4))yields during anaerobic digestion(AD),but causes are unclear. This research is the first to demonstrate the impact of extensive freshwater washing of spring-and summer-harvested S.muticum on the CH_(4)production rates and the biochemical methane potential(BMP).The findings reveal that the rate profile of CH_(4)production is affected by extensively washing the seaweed and is dependent on seasonality.Spring-harvested S.muticum had higher initial CH_(4)production rates compared to summer-harvested S.muticum.For spring-harvested S.muticum, the initial rate of CH_(4)production was lowered by extensive washing. In contrast, extensively washed summer-harvested S.muticum had a higher degradation rate and CH_(4)production rate relative to its non-extensively washed counterpart. The highest CH_(4)potentials accumulated by the treated and non-treated S.muticum are, however, statistically similar and not influenced by seasonality or extensive washing(p>0.05).Potential causes for differences in the rate of CH_(4)production between summer-and spring-harvested S.muticum are discussed. The differences in CH_(4)production from treated summer-and spring-harvested S.muticum acts as a stepping stone to understanding the causes for low CH_(4)yields,which could allow for further enhancements in CH_(4)production from S.muticum. | Supattra Maneein John J.Milledge Patricia J.Harvey Birthe V.Nielsen | 2021 | Energy and Built Environment2021,2,3: | 0
Kaffir lime leaf extract mediated synthesis, anticancer activities and antibacterial kinetics of Ag and Ag]AgCl nanoparticles显示文摘A facile phytosynthesis of Ag/AgCl and Ag nanoparticles (NPs)was developed using a crude water extract of Citrus hystrix DC (kaffir lime)leaves. The phytochemical and chloride contents of the extract, and various synthesis parameters were studied. The obtained Ag/AgCI and Ag NPs were of the cubic phase and mostly spherical in shape,Particle sizes of the yielded NPs were distributed in a narrow range with an average size of 20 and 38nm for the Ag/AgCI and Ag NPs,respectively,The reducing function of the phytochemicals and the stabilizing ability of gelatin were demonstrated,The NPs showed significant antiproliferative activities against the carcinoma HCT 116 and adenocarcinoma Caco-2 colorectal cell lines, but had a negative effect toward human fibroblasts. The NPs exhibited excellent antibacterial activities against Escherichia coil,Staphylococcus aureus,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus cereus. The inactivation kinetics obtained in the presence of the NPs showed a biphasic behavior that can be explained by the Cerf model. | Chaiyos Chankaew Supattra Somsri Weerinradah Tapala Sugunya Mahatheeranont Chalermpong Saenjum Apinpus Rujiwatra | 2018 | Particuology2018,16,5: | 0
Community’s Cultural Capital and Soft Power in the Archaeological Site:Case of Community in Phra Nakhon City Wall显示文摘Building the traditional cultural management of the community in conservation, rehabilitation, and adaptation to the change of globalization era to develop the lifestyle, culture, customs, archaeological site, and historical area to be the community’s cultural capital of Thailand, this should apply the innovation to build the effective community’s cultural capital in Phra Nakhon City Wall in conservation, inheritance, and enhancement. The innovation would successfully, steadily, and sustainably preserve, inherit, and enhance the community’s cultural capital. It would also characterize and transmit the culture to people. The research findings could create a model of conservation, inheritance, and enhancement by emphasizing the result of enhancing cultural inheritance, people participation, and stable and sustainable living. | Thanapon Vattanakul Tanapol Kortana Cholpassorn Sitthiwarongchai Supattra Pranee | 2023 | China-USA Business Review2023,22,2: | 0
