Rational Design and Application of an Indolium-Derived Heptamethine Cyanine with Record-Long Second Near-Infrared Emission显示文摘Heptamethine cyanine dyes, typified by indocyanine green, have been extensively employed as bioimaging indicators and theranostic agents.Significant efforts have been made to develop functional heptamethine cyanine dyes with outstanding bioimaging and theranostic utilities. In this work,we rationally designed and successfully developed a novel indolium-like heptamethine cyanine dye by installing indolium-derived polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on the terminal ends of a conjugated polyene backbone. This dye showed excellent photostability and showed bright fluorescent emission in the second near-infrared(NIR-Ⅱ)window with a peak at approximately 1120 nm.Such long wavelength emission prompted a superior bioimaging resolution in vivo.In particular, this NIR-Ⅱ dye had the remarkable capability of marking the blood vessels of the hindlimbs, abdomens, and brains of mice.More significantly, this dye involved a typical indolium-like heptamethine skeleton and exhibited two strong absorption bands in the 700–1300 nm NIR range, which endowed it with an intrinsic tumor-targeting capability and a high photothermal conversion efficiency(up to 68.2%),serving for the photothermal therapy of tumors under the guidance of NIR-Ⅱ fluorescence imaging. This work provides an efficient design strategy for achieving indolium-like heptamethine cyanine dyes with further NIR-Ⅱ emission.Xiaoxie Ma Yurou Huang Syed Ali Abbas Abedi Heejeong Kim Tan Teck Boon Davin Xiaogang Liu Wen-Chao Yang Yao Sun Sheng Hua Liu Jun Yin Juyoung Yoon Guang-Fu Yang 2022CCS Chemistry2022,4,6:2
Zr-pillared montmorillonite supported cobalt nanoparticles for Fischer–Tropsch synthesis显示文摘In this article Fischer–Tropsch(FT) synthesis was studied over cobalt nanoparticles supported on modifed Montmorillonite(Zr-PILC).Co-loaded/Zr-PILC catalysts were synthesized by hydrothermal methods and were characterized by XRD,XRF,BET,H2-TPR,TGA and SEM techniques.FT reactions were carried out in fxed bed microreactor(T 225 1C,260 1C and 275 1C,P 1,5 and 10 bars). The FT-products obtained over Co-loaded/Zr-PILC catalysts showed increased selectivity of C2–C12hydrocarbons and decreased selectivity towards CH4and higher molecular weight hydrocarbons(C21) at a TOS of 2–30 h as compared to the Co-loaded/NaMMT catalysts. With increase in reaction temperature from225 1C to 275 1C,CO-conversion and CH4selectivity increases while that of C5+hydrocarbons decreases.Decrease in CH4selectivity while increase in C5+hydrocarbons and CO-conversion were observed on increasing the pressure of reaction.Nisar Ahmad Syed Tajammul Hussain Bakhtiar Muhammad Nisar Ali Syed Mustansar Abbas Zulfqar Ali 2013Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2013,23,4:1

Revolution in the diagnosis and management of hepatitis C virus infection in current era显示文摘Chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection is a major global public health problem, particularly in developing part of the world.Significant advances have been made in the early diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Its management has been particularly revolutionized during the past two decades. In this review,we summarize the major advances in the diagnostic and management armamentarium for chronic HCV infection. The focus of the present review is on the newer directly acting anti-viral agents, which have revolutionized the management of chronic HCV infection.Management of uncomplicated chronic HCV infection and of specific complications and special at-risk populations of patients will be covered in detail.Despite the advent and approval of highly effective and well tolerable oral agents, still many challenges remain, particularly the affordability, the equitable distribution and access to later drugs. The World Health Organization aims to eliminate viral hepatitis including HCV by 2030 since its poses a major public health threat. There is an urgent need to ensure uniform and early access to diagnostic and therapeutic facilities throughout the world if the later goal has to be realized.Farina M Hanif Zain Majid Nasir Hassan Luck Abbas Ali Tasneem Syed Muddasir Laeeq Muhammed Mubarak 2022World Journal of Hepatology2022,14,4:1
Automated File Labeling for Heterogeneous Files Organization Using Machine Learning显示文摘File labeling techniques have a long history in analyzing the anthological trends in computational linguistics. The situation becomes worse in the case of files downloaded into systems from the Internet.Currently, most users either have to change file names manually or leave a meaningless name of the files, which increases the time to search required files and results in redundancy and duplications of user files.Currently,no significant work is done on automated file labeling during the organization of heterogeneous user files.A few attempts have been made in topic modeling. However, one major drawback of current topic modeling approaches is better results. They rely on specific language types and domain similarity of the data.In this research, machine learning approaches have been employed to analyze and extract the information from heterogeneous corpus.A different file labeling technique has also been used to get the meaningful and`cohesive topic of the files. The results show that the proposed methodology can generate relevant and context-sensitive names for heterogeneous data files and provide additional insight into automated file labeling in operating systems.Sagheer Abbas Syed Ali Raza MAKhan Muhammad Adnan Khan Atta-ur-Rahman Kiran Sultan Amir Mosavi 2023Computers, Materials & Continua2023,,2:0
Computational Algorithms for the Analysis of Cancer Virotherapy Model显示文摘Cancer is a common term for many diseases that can affect any part of the body.In 2020,ten million people will die due to cancer.A worldwide leading cause of death is cancer by the World Health Organization(WHO)report.Interaction of cancer cells, viral therapy, and immune response are identified in this model.Mathematical and computational modeling is an effective tool to predict the dynamics of cancer virotherapy. The cell population is categorized into three parts like uninfected cells(x),infected cells(y),virus-free cells(v),and immune cells(z).The modeling of cancerlike diseases is based on the law of mass action(the rate of change of reacting substances is directly proportional to the product of interacting substances).Positivity, boundedness, equilibria, threshold analysis, are part of deterministic modeling.Later on,a numerical analysis is designed by using the standard and non-standard finite difference methods. The non-standard finite difference method is developed to study the long-term behavior of the cancer model. For its efficiency,a comparison of the methods is investigated.Ali Raza Dumitru Baleanu Muhammad Rafiq Syed Zaheer Abbas Abubakar Siddique Umer Javed Mehvish Naz Arooj Fatima Tayyba Munawar Hira Batool Zaighum Nazir 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,5:0
Analysis of Pneumonia Model via Efficient Computing Techniques显示文摘Pneumonia is a highly transmissible disease in children.According to the World Health Organization(WHO),the most affected regions include south Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.Worldwide,15%of pediatric deaths can be attributed to pneumonia.Computing techniques have a significant role in science, engineering, and many other fields. In this study,we focused on the efficiency of numerical techniques via computer programs. We studied the dynamics of the pneumonia-like infections of epidemic models using numerical techniques. We discuss two types of analysis:dynamical and numerical. The dynamical analysis included positivity, boundedness, local stability, reproduction number, and equilibria of the model. We also discusswell-known computing techniques including Euler,Runge Kutta, and non-standard finite difference(NSFD)for the model. The non-standard finite difference(NSFD)technique shows convergence to the true equilibrium points of the model for any time step size. However,Euler and Runge Kutta do not work well over large time intervals.Computing techniques are the suitable tool for crosschecking the theoretical analysis of the model.Kamaledin Abodayeh Ali Raza Muhammad Rafiq Muhammad Shoaib Arif Muhammad Naveed Zunir Zeb Syed Zaheer Abbas Kiran Shahzadi Sana Sarwar Qasim Naveed Badar Ul Zaman Muhammad Mohsin 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,3:0
Thickness-dependent monochalcogenide GeSe-based CBRAM for memory and artificial electronic synapses显示文摘Investigating the promising chalcogenide materials for the development of memory and advanced neuromorphic computing applications is a critical step in realizing electronic memory and synaptic devices that can efficiently emulate biological synaptic functions. However, the assessment of monochalcogenide materials for the fabrication of highly scalable memory and electronic synaptic devices that can accurately mimic synaptic functions remain limited. In the present study,we investigated the thickness-dependent resistive switching(RS)behavior of conductive bridge random access memory(CBRAM)based on a monochalcogenide GeSe switching medium for its possible application in high-performance memory and electronic synapses.GeSe thin films of different thicknesses(6,13,24,35,47,and 56 nm)were deposited via sputtering to fabricate CBRAM devices with a stacking sequence of Ag/GeSe/Pt/Ti/SiO_(2).The devices exhibited compliance current(CC)-free and electroforming-free RS with highly stable endurance and retention characteristics with no major degradation. All devices with a thickness of 6 nm had a low-resistance state(LRS),which required an initial reset to ensure reliable switching cycles. The devices with a thickness of 47 nm and above exhibited the co-existence of unipolar resistive switching(U-RS)and bipolar resistive switching(B-RS)with the CC-controlled transition between the two switching behaviors.Multilevel resistance states in the 24-nm device between a high-resistance state(HRS)and an LRS were achieved by controlling the set-CC(from 5 mA to CC-free)and the reset stop voltage(from–0.5 to–1.0 V)during the set and reset processes, respectively. The analog RS behavior of the device was further investigated with appropriate pulse measurements to emulate vital synaptic functions, including long-term potentiation(LTP),long-term depression(LTD),spike-rate-dependent plasticity(SRDP),spike-timing-dependent plasticity(STDP),paired-pulse facilitation(PPF),paired-pulse depression(PPD)and post-tetanic potentiation(PTP).Overall, the detailed investigation of thickness-dependent GeSe monochalcogenide material indicates that it is a highly suitable candidate for use in highly scalable memory devices and electronic synapses for neuromorphic computing applications.Asif Ali Haider Abbas Muhammad Hussain Syed Hassan Abbas Jaffery Sajjad Hussain Changhwan Choi Jongwan Jung 2022Nano Research2022,15,3:0
COVIDX: Computer-aided diagnosis of COVID-19 and its severity prediction with raw digital chest X-ray scans显示文摘Background: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a contagious infection caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-COV-2) and it has infected and killed millions of people across the globe. Objective: In the absence or inadequate provision of therapeutic treatments of COVID-19 and the limited convenience of diagnostic techniques, there is a necessity for some alternate spontaneous screening systems that can easily be used by the physicians to rapidly recognize and isolate the infected patients to circumvent onward surge. A chest X-ray (CXR) image can effortlessly be used as a substitute modality to diagnose the COVID-19.Method: In this study, we present an automatic COVID-19 diagnostic and severity prediction system (COVIDX) that uses deep feature maps of CXR images along with classical machine learning algorithms to identify COVID-19 and forecast its severity. The proposed system uses a three-phase classification approach (healthy vs unhealthy, COVID-19 vs pneumonia, and COVID-19 severity) using different conventional supervised classification algorithms. Results: We evaluated COVIDX through 10-fold cross-validation, by using an external validation dataset, and also in a real setting by involving an experienced radiologist. In all the adopted evaluation settings, COVIDX showed strong generalization power and outperforms all the prevailing state-of-the-art methods designed for this purpose. Conclusions: Our proposed method (COVIDX), with vivid performance in COVID-19 diagnosis and its severity prediction, can be used as an aiding tool for clinical physicians and radiologists in the diagnosis and follow-up studies of COVID-19 infected patients.Availability: We made COVIDX easily accessible through a cloud-based webserver and python code available at https://sites.google.com/view/wajidarshad/software and http://gffzz188fe103f8f1460as0b66bp0cqcfw69qb.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/wajidarshad/covidx, respectively.Wajid Arshad Abbasi Syed Ali Abbas Saiqa Andleeb Maryum Bibi Fiaz Majeed Abdul Jaleel Muhammad Naveed Akhtar 2022Quantitative Biology2022,10,2:0
Content Based Automated File Organization Using Machine Learning Approaches显示文摘In the world of big data,it’s quite a task to organize different files based on their similarities.Dealing with heterogeneous data and keeping a record of every single file stored in any folder is one of the biggest problems encountered by almost every computer user.Much of file management related tasks will be solved if the files on any operating system are somehow categorized according to their similarities. Then, the browsing process can be performed quickly and easily. This research aims to design a system to automatically organize files based on their similarities in terms of content. The proposed methodology is based on a novel strategy that employs the charactaristics of both supervised and unsupervised machine learning approaches for learning categories of digital files stored on any computer system. The results demonstrate that the proposed architecture can effectively and efficiently address the file organization challenges using real-world user files. The results suggest that the proposed system has great potential to automatically categorize almost all of the user files based on their content. The proposed system is completely automated and does not require any human effort in managing the files and the task of file organization become more efficient as the number of files grows.Syed Ali Raza Sagheer Abbas Taher M.Ghazal Muhammad Adnan Khan Munir Ahmad Hussam Al Hamadi 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,10:0
National guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of hilar cholangiocarcinoma显示文摘A consensus meeting of national experts from all major national hepatobiliary centres in the country was held on May 26,2023,at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute&Research Centre(PKLI&RC)after initial consultations with the experts. The Pakistan Society for the Study of Liver Diseases(PSSLD)and PKLI&RC jointly organised this meeting. This effort was based on a comprehensive literature review to establish national practice guidelines for hilar cholangiocarcinoma(hCCA).The consensus was that hCCA is a complex disease and requires a multidisciplinary team approach to best manage these patients. This coordinated effort can minimise delays and give patients a chance for curative treatment and effective palliation. The diagnostic and staging workup includes high-quality computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreato-graphy.Brush cytology or biopsy utilizing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is a mainstay for diagnosis. However, histopathologic confirmation is not always required before resection.Endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration of regional lymph nodes and positron emission tomography scan are valuable adjuncts for staging. The only curative treatment is the surgical resection of the biliary tree based on the Bismuth-Corlette classification.Selected patients with unresectable hCCA can be considered for liver transplantation.Adjuvant chemotherapy should be offered to patients with a high risk of recurrence. The use of preoperative biliary drainage and the need for portal vein embolisation should be based on local multidisciplinary discussions.Patients with acute cholangitis can be drained with endoscopic or percutaneous biliary drainage.Palliative chemotherapy with cisplatin and gemcitabine has shown improved survival in patients with irresectable and recurrent hCCA.Faisal Saud Dar Zaigham Abbas Irfan Ahmed Muhammad Atique Usman Iqbal Aujla Muhammad Azeemuddin Zeba Aziz Abu Bakar Hafeez Bhatti Tariq Ali Bangash Amna Subhan Butt Osama Tariq Butt Abdul Wahab Dogar Javed Iqbal Farooqi Faisal Hanif Jahanzaib Haider Siraj Haider Syed Mujahid Hassan Adnan Abdul Jabbar Aman Nawaz Khan Muhammad Shoaib Khan Muhammad Yasir Khan Amer Latif Nasir Hassan Luck Ahmad Karim Malik Kamran Rashid Sohail Rashid Mohammad Salih Abdullah Saeed Amjad Salamat Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab Aasim Yusuf Haseeb Haider Zia Ammara Naveed 2024World Journal of Gastroenterology2024,30,9:0
A case of cellulitis of the hands caused by a predatory bird attack显示文摘Many species have been drastically affected by rapid urbanization.Harris' s hawks from their natural habitat of open spaces and a supply of rodents, lizards and other small prey have been forced to change their natural environment adapting to living in open spaces in sub-and periurban areas.Specific areas include playgrounds, parks and school courtyards. The migration of this predatory species into these areas poses a risk to individuals, and especially the children are often attacked by claws, talons and beaks intentionally or as collateral damage while attacking rodent prey.In addition, the diverse micro-organisms harbored in the beaks and talons can result in wound infections, presenting a challenge to clinical management. Here we would like to present a case of an 80-year-old man with cellulitis of bom hands after sustaining minor injuries from the talons of a Harris s hawk and review the management options. We would also like to draw attention to the matter that, even though previously a rarity, more cases of injuries caused by birds of prey may be seen in hospital settings.M Adil Abbas Khan Mohammed Farid Zain A Sobani Syed Nadir Ali Huzaifa Malick Maryam Baqir Hasanat Sharif M Asim Beg 2011Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2011,1,2:0
