1Low-velocity simultaneous bilateral femoral neck fracture following long-term antiepileptic therapy:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Simultaneous bilateral femoral neck fractures are relatively rare injuries.They are usually associated with underlying metabolic bone disorders or systemic diseases.Long-term use of narcotics and bisphosphonates can also result in similar fracture patterns;however,association of this fracture type with longterm use of antiepileptic drugs is not very common.Only one such case has been reported in the literature.This article describes the second.CASE REPORT We report a case of simultaneous displaced bilateral femoral neck fractures in a 50-year-old epileptic patient,who had taken phenytoin for the past 3 years.The fractures were a result of low-velocity injury following a fall from the bed.The fractures were managed with a bilateral hemi-replacement arthroplasty.Oral bisphosphonates were given to improve the bone quality in the post-operative period.The patient had a good post-operative outcome,that was sustained throughout the entire follow-up period of 1 year.CONCLUSION Antiepileptic drugs should be supplemented with bisphosphonates and vitamin D to improve bone quality and prevent fractures in epileptic patients.Mohammed Sadiq Vikrant Kulkarni Syed Azher Hussain Mohammed Ismail Mayur Nayak 2019World Journal of Orthopedics2019,10,10:5
2Land use change in highland area and its impact on river water quality:a review of case studies in Malaysia显示文摘The policy of encouraging agriculture and development for mass tourism has led to environmental problems in Cameron Highlands,Malaysia.Rampant development and land clearing have significantly altered the land cover of Cameron Highlands for the past 30 years.Sensitive highlands areas are prone to landslides and soil erosion which then contributed to the main water pollution issues in the network of river system,sedimentation and siltation.The continuous trend of river water quality deterioration in Cameron Highlands has raised the issues for discussion in this review article.The purpose of this review is to briefly summarize the land use change,agriculture practices,agro-tourism,and agriculture policy and management toward water quality of the river system network in Cameron Highlands specifically in the downtown where most of the development and agriculture activities are concentrated.A rigorous review has been done on the existing literature to determine the relationship between land use change and agriculture practices toward river water quality in Cameron Highlands from 2001 to 2017.The total number of reviewed papers was 68.The outcomes established from previous researchers have highlighted factors such as soil erosion,landslides,agriculture activities,urbanization,and unplanned development associated with land use change have significantly influenced the river water quality in the highland areas.Continuous land use changes without proper development plan and law enforcement may critically threaten the sustainability of river network in the highlands area.Azlini Razali Sharifah Norkhadijah Syed Ismail Suriyani Awang Sarva Mangala Praveena Emilia Zainal Abidin 2018Ecological Processes2018,7,1:2

13Performance analysis of a random ARQ initialized cooperative communication protocol in shadowed Nakagami-m wireless channel显示文摘In this paper, we develop and analyze an energy efficient ARQ (automatic repeat request) initialized transmit diversity protocol for cooperative communications. Medium access control (MAC) layer packet retransmission limit (similar to aShortRetryLimit or aLongRetryLimit [802.11-1997]) has been used as an actuator for transmit cooperative diversity initialization. We take the channel state information (CSI) as a function of retransmission tries and the number of retransmission tries is modeled as a random variable. Relays close to the source node are chosen for the transmit cooperation. Closed form expressions are obtained for symbol error rate (SER), outage capacity and outage probability for the proposed scheme in shadowed fading channels. This cooperative scheme achieves lower signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), stumpy outage probability, higher bandwidth, and transmit energy efficiencies for desired average symbol error rate (ASER) than the preceding ARQ based cooperative protocols. 14Fractional Analysis of Thin Film Flow of Non-Newtonian Fluid显示文摘Modeling and analysis of thin film flow with respect to magneto hydro dynamical effect has been an important theme in the field of fluid dynamics,due to its vast industrial applications.The analysis involves studying the behavior and response of governing equations on the basis of various parameters such as thickness of the film,film surface profile,shear stress,liquid velocity,volumetric flux,vorticity,gravity,viscosity among others,along with different boundary conditions.In this article,we extend this analysis in fractional space using a homotopy based scheme,considering the case of a Non-Newtonian Pseudo-Plastic fluid for lifting and drainage on a vertical wall.After applying similarity transformations,the given problems are reduced to highly non-linear and inhomogeneous ordinary differential equations.Moreover,fractional differential equations are obtained using basic definitions of fractional calculus.The Homotopy Perturbation Method(HPM),along with fractional calculus is used for obtaining approximate solutions.Physical quantities such as the velocity profile,volume flux and average velocity respectively for lift and drainage cases have been calculated.To the best of our knowledge,the given problems have not been attempted before in fractional space.Validity and convergence of the obtained solutions are confirmed by finding residual errors.From a physical perspective,a comprehensive study of the effects of various parameters on the velocity profile is also performed.Study reveals that Stokes number St,non-Newtonian parameterand magnetic parameter M have inverse relationship with fluid velocity in lifting case.In the drainage case,Stokes number St and non-Newtonian parameterhave direct relationship with fluid velocity,but magnetic parameter M shows inverse relationship with velocity.The investigation also shows that the fractional parameterhas direct relationship with the fluid velocity in lifting case,while it has inverse relationship with velocity in the drainage case.Farnaz Ismail Mubashir Qayyum Syed Inayat Ali Shah 2020Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2020,,9:0
15Morpholine hydrazone scaffold: Synthesis, anticancer activity and docking studies显示文摘In this paper, synthesis and anticancer activities of morpholine hydrazones scaffold(1-17) thoroughly studied. Small series of morpholine hydrazones synthesized by treating 5-morpholinothiophene-2-carbaldehyde with different aryl hydrazides to form morpholine hydrazones scaffold(1-17). The in vitro anticancer potential of all these compounds was checked against human cancer cell lines like Hep G2(human hepatocellular liver carcinoma) and MCF-7(human breast adenocarcinoma). Analogs 13 had similar substantial cytotoxic effects towards Hep G2 with IC_(50) value 6.31±1.03μmmol/L when compared with the standard Doxorubicin(IC_(50)value 6.00±0.80μmmol/L); while compounds 5,8 and 9 showed potent cytotoxicity against MCF-7 with IC_(50) value 7.08±0.42μmmol/L, 1.26±0.34μmmol/L and11.22±0.22μmmol/L respectively when compared with the standard Tamoxifen(IC_(50)= 11.00±0.40μmol/L).
