2Use of a Digital Image Correlation Technique for Measuring the Material Properties of Beetle Wing显示文摘Beetle wings are very specialized flight organs consisting of the veins and membranes.Therefore it is necessary from abionic view to investigate the material properties of a beetle wing experimentally.In the present study,we have used a DigitalImage Correlation (DIC) technique to measure the elastic modulus of a beetle wing membrane.Specimens were prepared bycarefully cutting a beetle hind wing into 3.0 mm by 7.0 mm segments (the gage length was 5 mm).We used a scanning electronmicroscope for a precise measurement of the thickness of the beetle wing membrane.The specimen was attached to a designedfixture to induce a uniform displacement by means of a micromanipulator.We used an ARAMISTM system based on the digitalimage correlation technique to measure the corresponding displacement of a specimen.The thickness of the beetle wing variedat different points of the membrane.The elastic modulus differed in relation to the membrane arrangement showing a structuralanisotropy;the elastic modulus in the chordwise direction is approximately 2.65 GPa,which is three times larger than the elasticmodulus in the spanwise direction of 0.84 GPa.As a result,the digital image correlation-based ARAMIS system was suc-cessfully used to measure the elastic modulus of a beetle wing.In addition to membrane’s elastic modulus,we considered thePoisson’s ratio of the membrane and measured the elastic modulus of a vein using an Instron universal tensile machine.Theresult reveals the Poisson’s ratio is nearly zero and the elastic modulus of a vein is about 11 GPa.Tailie Jin Nam Seo Goo Sung-Choong Woo Hoon Cheol Park 2009Journal of Bionic Engineering2009,6,3:4
3Preparation of polythiophene/WO_3 organic-inorganic hybrids and their gas sensing properties for NO_2 detection at low temperature显示文摘Polythiophene/WO3(PTP/WO3)organic-inorganic hybrids were synthesized by an in situ chemical oxidative polymerization method,and char- acterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM)and thermo-gravimetric analysis(TGA).The Polythiophene/ WO3 hybrids have higher thermal stability than pure polythiophene,which is beneficial to potential application as chemical sensors.Gas sensing measurements demonstrate that the gas sensor based on the Polythiophene/WO3 hybrids has high response and good selectivity for de- tecting NO2 of ppm level at low temperature.Both the operating temperature and PTP contents have an influence on the response of PTP/WO3 hybrids to NO2.The 10 wt%PTP/WO3 hybrid showed the highest response at low operating temperature of 70-C.It is expected that the PTP/WO3 hybrids can be potentially used as gas sensor material for detecting the low concentration of NO2 at low temperature.Jing Huan~ Yanfei Kang Taili Yang Yao Wang Shurong Wang 2011Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2011,20,4:2
4Biocrude oil production from Chlorella sp.cultivated in anaerobic digestate after UF membrane treatment显示文摘Algae cultivation in animal wastewater could recover nutrient resources,and harvest considerable amount of algae biomass for biofuel conversion.In this study,Chlorella sp.cultivated in ultrafiltration(UF)membrane treated anaerobic digestion effluent of chicken manure was converted into biocrude oil through hydrothermal liquefaction(HTL).The potential of biocrude production from grown Chlorella sp.was studied through changing the operational conditions of HTL,i.e.,holding temperature(HT,250℃-330℃),retention time(RT,0.5-1.5 h),and total solid(TS)(15 wt%-25 wt%)of the feedstock.The highest biocrude oil yield was 32.9%at 330℃,1.5 h and 20 wt%TS.The single factor experiments of HT also suggested that the biocrude oil yield decreased when the temperature was higher than 330℃.There were no significant differences of elemental contents in biocrude samples.The maximum higher heating values(HHV)of Chlorella sp.biocrude was 40.04 MJ/kg at HT of 330℃,RT of 1 h and TS of 15 wt%.This study suggests the great potential for energy recovery from Chlorella sp.cultivated in UF membrane treated anaerobic digestion effluent via HTL.Wang Meng Wang Xinfeng Zhu Zhangbing Lu Jianwen Yuanhui Zhang Li Baoming Lu Haifeng Duan Na Zhang Dongming Dong Taili Liu Zhidan 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,1:1

6Modulation format independent blind polarization demultiplexing algorithms for elastic optical networks显示文摘We demonstrate a novel modulation format independent algorithm for adaptive blind polarization demultiplexing for elastic optical networks(EONs). We compare the proposed algorithm with traditional constant modulus algorithm(CMA) and radius-directed algorithm(RDA), in terms of performance in PM-QPSK,PM-16 QAM and PM-64 QAM coherent system, by simulating in back-to-back(BTB) and transmission sceneries.The simulation result shows that the modulation format independent algorithm can achieve universal adaptive blind polarization demultiplexing for PM-m QAM signals and gain slightly better performance in condition of lower optical signal noise ratio(OSNR). Furthermore, we also carry out experiments to investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm in BTB and 800 km transmission scenarios for 16 GBaud PM-QPSK and PM-16 QAM. 7Microalgae cultivation and culture medium recycling by a two-stage cultivation system显示文摘Nutrients and water play an important role in microalgae cultivation.Using wastewater as a culture medium is a promising alternative to recycle nutrients and water,and for further developing microalgae-based products.In the present study,two species of microalgae,Chlorella sp.(high ammonia nitrogen tolerance)and Spirulinaplatensis (S.platensis,high growth rate),were cultured by using poultry wastewater through a two-stage cultivation system for algal biomass production.Ultrafiltration (UF)or centrifuge was used to harvest Chlorella-sp.from the first cultivation stage and to recycle culture medium for S.platensis growth in the second cultivation stage.Results showed the two-stage cultiyation system produced high microalgae biomass including 0.39g·L^-1 Chlorella sp.and 3.45g·L^-1 S.platensis in the first-stage and second-stage,respectively.In addition,the removal efficiencies of NH4+reached 19% and almost 100% in the first and the second stage,respectively. 16Highly adaptive and broadband triboelectric energy harvester with stretching silicone rubber strip for variable harmonic frequency vibration显示文摘An enormous number of wireless sensing nodes(WSNs)are of great significance for the Internet of Things(IoT).It is tremendously prospective to realize the in-situ power supply of WSNs by harvesting unutilized mechanical vibration energy.A harmonic silicone rubber triboelectric nanogenerator(HSR-TENG)is developed focusing on ubiquitous constant working frequency machinery.The unique design of the strip serving as a flexible resonator realizes both soft contact and high and broadband output.The significant factors influencing the 1^(st)-order vibration mode of the strip are developed for realizing the harmonic frequency adaptation to external vibration.The surface treatment of the strip improves the output performance of HSR-TENG by 49.1%as well as eliminates the adhesion effect.The HSR-TENG is able to achieve a voltage output bandwidth of 19 Hz under a vibration strength of 3.0,showing its broadband capability.The peak power density of 153.9 W/m^(3)is achieved and 12×0.5 W light-emitting diodes(LEDs)are successfully illuminated by the HSR-TENG.It can continuously power a temperature sensor by harvesting the actual compressor vibration energy.In brief,the HSR-TENG provides a promising way for constant frequency vibration energy harvesting,so as to achieve in-situ power supply for the WSNs in the vicinity.Taili Du Dianlong Shen Ziyue Xi Hongyong Yu Fangyang Dong Cong Zhao Meixian Zhu Yongjiu Zou Peiting Sun Minyi Xu 2024Nano Research2024,17,5:0
17Gas sensing performance of polyaniline/ZnO organic-inorganic hybrids for detecting VOCs at low temperature显示文摘Polyaniline (PANI) was prepared by the chemical oxidative polymerization of aniline, and ZnO, with the mean particle size of 28 nm, was synthesized by a non-aqueous solvent method. The organic-inorganic PANI/ZnO hybrids with different mass fractions of PANI were obtained by mechanically mixing the prepared PANI and ZnO. The gas sensing properties of PANI/ZnO hybrids to different volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including methanol, ethanol and acetone were investigated at a low operating temperature of 90°C. Compared with the pure PANI and ZnO, the PANI/ZnO hybrids presented much higher response to VOCs. Meanwhile, the PANI/ZnO hybrid exhibited a good reversibility and a short response-recovery time, implying its potential application for gas sensors. 18How do the landslide and non-landslide sampling strategies impact landslide susceptibility assessment? d A catchment-scale case study from China显示文摘The aim of this study is to investigate the impacts of the sampling strategy of landslide and non-landslide on the performance of landslide susceptibility assessment(LSA).The study area is the Feiyun catchment in Wenzhou City,Southeast China.Two types of landslides samples,combined with seven non-landslide sampling strategies,resulted in a total of 14 scenarios.The corresponding landslide susceptibility map(LSM)for each scenario was generated using the random forest model.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve and statistical indicators were calculated and used to assess the impact of the dataset sampling strategy.The results showed that higher accuracies were achieved when using the landslide core as positive samples,combined with non-landslide sampling from the very low zone or buffer zone.The results reveal the influence of landslide and non-landslide sampling strategies on the accuracy of LSA,which provides a reference for subsequent researchers aiming to obtain a more reasonable LSM.Zizheng Guo Bixia Tian Yuhang Zhu Jun He Taili Zhang 2024Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2024,16,3:0
19Study of copper-cysteamine based X-ray induced photodynamic therapy and its effects on cancer cell proliferation and migration in a clinical mimic setting显示文摘Copper-cysteamine as a new generation of sensitizers can be activated by light,X-rays,microwaves,or ultrasound to produce reactive oxygen species.X-ray induced photodynamic therapy(X-PDT)has been studied extensively;however,most of the studies reported so far were conducted in the laboratory,which is not conducive to the clinical translation conditions.In this contribution,for the first time,we investigated the treatment efficiency of copper-cysteamine(Cu-Cy)based X-PDT by mimicking the clinical conditions with a clinical linear accelerator and building deep-seated tumor models to study not only the effectiveness but also its effects on the cell migration and proliferation in the level of the cell,tissue,and animal.The results showed that,without X-ray irradiation,Cu-Cy nanoparticles(NPs)had a low toxicity in HepG2,SK-HEP-1,Li-7,and 4T1 cells at a concentration below 100 mg/L.Interestingly,for the first time,it was observed that Cu-Cy mediated X-PDT can inhibit the proliferation and migration of these cell lines in a dose-dependent manner.Antigen markers of migration and cell proliferation,proliferating cell nuclear antigen(PCNA)and E-cadherin,from tumor tissue in the X-PDT group were remarkably different from that of the control group.Furthermore,the MRI assessment showed that the Cu-Cy based X-PDT inhibited the growth of deeply located tumors in mice and rabbits(p<0.05)without any obvious toxicities in vivo.Overall,these new findings demonstrate that Cu-Cy NPs have a safe and promising clinical application prospect in X-PDT to improve the efficiency of radiotherapy(RT)for deep-seated tumors and effectively inhibit tumor cell proliferation and migration.Xiangyu Chen Jiayi Liu Ya Li Nil Kanatha Pandey Taili Chen Lingyun Wang Eric Horacio Amador Weijun Chen Feiyue Liu Enhua Xiao Wei Chen 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,1:0
