2PROCESS AND PRODUCT--METHODOLOGY SHIFT IN WRITING TEACHING TO ENGLISH MAJORS IN CHINA显示文摘English writing is a headache for China's English majors.However, writing teaching still assumes the weakest role inlanguage teaching. This paper chooses the English majors andtheir writing teachers as the target audience and holds thatwriting instruction should stress the writing process and make ashift from the traditional product approach to the processapproach. According to the survey, we find in mostcompositions, only a few errors of form (e. g. concerninggrammar, spelling, mechanics ) exist, but the texts are vagueand general. Nevertheless, writing teachers commonly adopt theproduct approach, which focuses on the product of writing,emphasizes the grammatical correctness but disregards thestudents' initiative in discovering and exploring the content. How call the teachers develop the English majors' capability ofdiscovering content or ideas? 3Hydrological changes and settlement migrations in the Keriya River delta in central Tarim Basin ca. 2.7–1.6 ka BP: Inferred from ^(14)C and OSL chronology显示文摘Over one hundred artifacts, including shards, chopped wood, bronze and iron ware debris as well as footprints, have been discovered during archaeological investigations at and around the central Taklamakan Desert Yuansha Site (38°52′N, 81°35′E). Dating (14C and OSL) and landform study show that the present-day dry Keriya River once sustained an oasis human settle- ment in 2.6 ka BP, historically falling into the Spring and Autumn Period (716-475 BCE) of Chinese history. The chronology and archaeological interpretations also show that some 400 years later, the local Keriya River channel had shifted 40 km southeast to sustain a Western Han (206 BCE-25 CE) Wumi settlement at the Karadun site. In the meantime, river-channel migration had allowed reoccupation of a site west of Yuansha City around 1.9 ka BP (abandoned again by 1.6 ka BP). The remains' chronology shows that this site was affiliated to Wumi culture and Eastern Han (24-220 CE) dynasty rule. Palaeoclimatic records indicate that the migrations of the river and oasis settlers between 2.7 and 1.6 ka BP were coeval with Central Asian climate changes. Yuansha City was built just after the end of 2.8 ka BP glacier advances in western China, suggesting that release of more water during the subsequent glacier recession may have facilitated oasis development such that Iron Age European peoples could settle in the Tarim Basin. As shown from analysis of archeological remains, not only at Yuansha but also in other ancient cities in the Tarim such as Loulan and Jingjue (Niya), conditions around 1.6 ka BP were dry enough to cause oasis decline. Thus, the results reported here enhance our knowledge about environmental changes and their effects on human activities and cultural evolution in western China and will stimulate further interdisciplinary studies of landscape and oasis history in the Tarim Basin.ZHANG Feng WANG Taoi Hamid . 4The effect of the causative algae of large-scale HAB in the East China Sea on egg hatching of Argopecten irradians, and population growth of Brachionus plicatilis and Moina mongolica显示文摘The impacts of Prorocentrum donghaiense Lu and Alexandrium catenella Balech, causative species of the large-scale HAB in the East China Sea, were studied under laboratory conditions. According to bloom densities, the effects of monoculture and mixture of the two species were examined on the egg-hatching success of Argopecten irradians Lamarck, and the population growth of Brachionus plicatilis Müller and Moina mongolica Daday. The results showed that monoculture of A. catenella had a significant inhibition on the egg hatching success of A. irradians, and the population growth of B. plicatilis and M. mongolica. The median effective densities (ED_50) inhibiting the egg hatching success of A. irradians for 24 h and the population growth of B. plicatilis and M. mongolica for 96 h were 800, 630, and 2 400 cells/cm3, respectively. Monoculture of P. donghaiense has no such inhibitory effect on the egg hatching success of A. irradians; P. donghaiense at lower suitable densities could sustain the population growth of B. plicatilis (1×104~3×104cells/cm3) and M. mongolica (2×104~5×104cells/cm3); P. donghaiense at higher densities had significantly adverse effect on the population growth of B. plicatilis (4×104~10×104cells/cm3) and M. mongolica (10×104cells/cm3). When the two algae were mixed according to bloom densities, P. donghaiense at suitable densities to some extent could decrease the toxicity of A. catenella to B. plicatilis and M. mongolica. 15Sampling strategy for wild soybean(Glycine soja)populations based on their genetic diversity and fine-scale spatial genetic structure显示文摘A total of 892 individuals sampled from a wild soybean population in a natural reserve near the Yellow River estuary located in Kenli of Shandong Province(China)were investigated.Seventeen SSR(simple sequence repeat)primer pairs from cultivated soybeans were used to estimate the genetic diversity of the population and its variation pattern versus changes of the sample size(sub-samples),in addition to investigating the fine-scale spatial genetic structure within the population.The results showed relatively high genetic diversity of the population with the mean value of allele number(A)being 2.88,expected heterozygosity(He)0.431,Shannon diversity index(I)0.699,and percentage of poly-morphic loci(P)100%.Sub-samples of different sizes(ten groups)were randomly drawn from the population and their genetic diversity was calculated by computer simulation.The regression model of the four diversity indexes with the change of sample sizes was computed.As a result,27-52 individuals can reach 95%of total genetic variability of the population.Spatial autocorrelation analysis revealed that the genetic patch size of this wild soybean population is about 18 m.The study provided a scientific basis for the sampling strategy of wild soybean populations.ZHU Weiyue ZHOU Taoying ZHONG Ming LU Baorong 2007Frontiers in Biology2007,2,4:1

18Evaluation of freeze-thaw erosion in Tibet based on the cloud model显示文摘Freeze-thaw erosion can lead to accelerated soil loss,which is an important factor related to soil erosion in cold regions.Tibet is a typical region that is seriously affected by freeze-thaw erosion.Traditionally,the analytic hierarchy process(AHP)method is used to calculate the weight of the factors in evaluations of freeze-thaw erosion,but this method cannot accurately depict the fuzziness and randomness of the problem.To overcome this disadvantage,this study proposed an improved AHP method based on the cloud model for the evaluation of the factors impacting freeze-thaw erosion.To establish an improved evaluation method for freeze-thaw erosion in Tibet,the following six factors were selected:mean annual air temperature,mean annual ground surface temperature,average annual precipitation,aspect,vegetation coverage,and topographic relief.The traditional AHP and the cloud model were combined to assign the weights of the impacting factors,and a consistency check was performed.The comprehensive evaluation index model was used to evaluate the intensity of freeze-thaw erosion in Tibet.The results show that freeze-thaw erosion is extensive,stretching over approximately 66.1%of Tibet.Moreover,mild erosion and moderate erosion are the most widely distributed erosion intensity levels,accounting for 36.4%and 34.4%of the total freeze-thaw erosion,respectively.The intensity of freeze-thaw erosion gradually increased from slight erosion in the northwest to severe erosion in the southeast of the study region.The evaluation results for the intensity and distribution of freeze-thaw erosion in Tibet were confirmed to be consistent with the actual situation.In brief,this study supplies a new approach for quantitatively evaluating the intensity of freeze-thaw erosion in Tibet.Junfu FAN Taoying HU Xiao YU Jiahao CHEN Liusheng HAN Yuke ZHOU 2021Frontiers of Earth Science2021,15,3:1
