| 1 | Anti-inflammatory and Antimicrobial Effects of Anthocyanin Extracted from Black Soybean on Chronic Bacterial Prostatitis Rat Model显示文摘Objective: To investigated the anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects of anthocyanins extracted from black soybean on the chronic bacterial prostatitis(CBP) rat model. Methods: The SpragueDawley rats were divided into 4 groups, including control, ciprofloxacin, anthocyanins and anthocyanins with ciprofloxacin groups(n=8 in each group). Then, drip infusion of bacterial suspension(Escherichia coli Z17O_2:K_1:H^-) into Sprague-Dawley rats was conducted to induce CBP.In 4 weeks, results of prostate tissue, urine culture, and histological analysis on the prostate were analyzed for each group. Results: The use of ciprofloxacin, anthocyanins, and anthocyanins with ciprofloxacin showed statistically significant decreases in bacterial growth and improvements in the reduction of prostatic inflammation compared with the control group(P<0.05).The anthocyanins with ciprofloxacin group showed a statistically significant decrease in bacterial growth and improvement in prostatic inflammation compared with the ciprofloxacin group(P<0.05).Conclusions: These results suggest that anthocyanins may have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effects,as well as a synergistic effect with ciprofloxacin. Therefore,we suggest that the combination of anthocyanins and ciprofloxacin may be effective in treating CBP to obtain a higher rate of treatment success. | Byung Il Yoon Woong Jin Bae Yong Sun Choi Su Jin Kim U Syn Ha Sung-Hoo Hong Dong Wan Sohn Sae Woong Kim | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2018,24,8: | 11 |
| 2 | Increased circulating level of interleukin-6 and CD8+T cell exhaustion are associated with progression of COVID-19显示文摘Background: Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is pandemic. It is critical to identify COVID-19 patients who are most likely to develop a severe disease. This study was designed to determine the clinical and epidemiological features of COVID-19 patients associated with the development of pneumonia and factors associated with disease progression.Methods:: Seventy consecutive patients with etiologically confirmed COVID-19 admitted to PLA General Hospital in Beijing,China from December 27,2019 to March 12,2020 were enrolled in this study and followed-up to March 16,2020.Differences in clinical and laboratory findings between COVID-19 patients with pneumonia and those without were determined by theχ2 test or the Fisher exact test(categorical variables)and independent group t test or Mann–Whitney U test(continuous variables). The Cox proportional hazard model and Generalized Estimating Equations were applied to evaluate factors that predicted the progression of COVID-19.Results: The mean incubation was 8.67(95%confidence interval,6.78–10.56)days.Mean duration from the first test severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2-positive to conversion was 11.38(9.86–12.90)days.Compared to pneumonia-free patients, pneumonia patients were 16.5 years older and had higher frequencies of having hypertension, fever, and cough and higher circulating levels of neutrophil proportion,interleukin-6,low count(<190/µl)of CD8+T cells, and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio.Thirteen patients deteriorated during hospitalization.Cox regression analysis indicated that older age and higher serum levels of interleukin-6,C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, and lactate at admission significantly predicted the progression of COVID-19.During hospitalization, circulating counts of T lymphocytes,CD4+T cells, and CD8+T cells were lower, whereas neutrophil proportion,neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio, and the circulating levels of interleukin-6,C-reactive protein, and procalcitonin were higher,in pneumonia patients than in pneumonia-free patients.CD8+lymphocyte count in pneumonia patients did not recover when discharged. Conclusions: Older age and higher levels of C-reactive protein,procalcitionin,interleukin-6,and lactate might predict COVID-19 progression.T lymphocyte, especially CD8+cell-mediated immunity is critical in recovery of COVID-19.This study may help in predicting disease progression and designing immunotherapy for COVID-19. | Peng-Hui Yang Yi-Bo Ding Zhe Xu Rui Pu Ping U Jin Yan Ji-Luo Liu Fan-Ping Meng Lei Huang Lei Shi Tian-Jun Jiang En-Qiang Qin Min Zhao Da-Wei Zhang Peng Zhao Ling-Xiang Yu Zhao-Hai Wang Zhi-Xian Hong Zhao-Hui Xiao Qing Xi De-Xi Zhao Peng Yu Cai-Zhong Zhu Zhu Chen Shao-Geng Zhang Jun-Sheng Ji Fu-Sheng Wang Guang-Wen Cao | 2020 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2020,9,6: | 3 |

| 12 | Inhibition of Proliferation of Prostate Cancer Cell Line DU-145 in vitro and in vivo Using Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antiproliferative activity of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge.(SM)on the castration-resistant prostate cancer(CRPC)cell line DU-145 in vitro and in vivo. Methods:Prostate cancer cell line(DU-145)and normal prostate cell line(RWPE-1)were treated with SM at different concentrations(3.125,12.5,25 and 50μg/mL)to investigate the antiproliferative effects.DNA laddering analysis was performed to investigate the apoptosis of DU-145 cells.Molecular mechanism was investigated by Western blot analysis of p53,Bcl-2,prostate specific antigen(PSA),and androgen receptor(AR).Six-week-old male BALB/c nude mice were randomly divided into normal control group(n=101)and treated group(n=101)which administered 500 mg/kg SM for 2 weeks.Tumor volumes were measured. Results:Treatment with SM resulted in a dose-dependent decrease in cell number of DU-145 cells in comparison with RWPE-1.DNA laddering analysis indicated the apoptosis of DU-145 cells.Treatment with SM increased the expression of p53 and reduced the expression of Bcl-2 proteins. The levels of PSA were considerably reduced in SM-treated group compared to the controls, and a decrease in AR expression was observed when cells were treated with SM in the same pattern as a reduction in PSA.In the tumour xenograft study,SM given once a day for 2 weeks significantly inhibited tumour growth. Conclusion:SM might contribute to the anticancer actions such as induction of apoptosis and inhibition of proliferation of prostate cancer cells. | Woong Jin Bae Jin Bong Choi Kang Sup Kim U Syn Ha Sung Hoo Hong Ji Youl Lee Tae-Kon Hwang Sung Yeoun Hwang WANG Zhi-ping Sae Woong Kim | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2020,26,7: | 1 |
