| 1 | Antibiotic resistance and cagA gene correlation:A looming crisis of Helicobacter pylori显示文摘AIM:To determine antibiotic resistance of Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori) in Pakistan and its correlation with host and pathogen associated factors.METHODS:A total of 178 strains of H.pylori were isolated from gastric biopsies of dyspeptic patients.Susceptibility patterns against first and second-line antibiotics were determined and trends of resistance were analyzed in relation to the sampling period,gastric conditions and cagA gene carriage.The effect of cagA gene on the acquisition of resistance was investigated by mutant selection assay.RESULTS:The observations showed that monoresistant strains were prevalent with rates of 89% for metronidazole,36% for clarithromycin,37% for amoxicillin,18.5% for ofloxacin and 12% for tetracycline.Furthermore,clarithromycin resistance was on the rise from 2005 to 2008(32% vs 38%,P = 0.004) and it is significantly observed in non ulcerative dyspeptic patients compared to gastritis,gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer cases(53% vs 20%,18% and 19%,P = 0.000).On the contrary,metronidazole and ofloxacin resistance were more common in gastritis and gastric ulcer cases.Distribution analysis and frequencies of resistant mutants in vitro correlated with the absence of cagA gene with metronidazole and ofloxacin resistance.CONCLUSION:The study confirms the alarming levels of antibiotic resistance associated with the degree of gastric inflammation and cagA gene carriage in H.pylori strains. | Adnan Khan Amber Farooqui Hamid Manzoor Syed Shakeel Akhtar Muhammad Saeed Quraishy Shahana Urooj Kazmi | 2012 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2012，18，18： | 15 |
| 2 | Screening of malnutrition using Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment tool and hand muscle strength in subjects with pancreatitis显示文摘Background:Pancreatitis patients are at an increased risk of malnutrition due to impaired digestion,absorption,and metabolism.The degree of malnutrition is dependent on the duration,viz.acute or chronic.Studies on nutritional status in patients with pancreatitis are limited.Prevalence of nutritional status,physical functioning,and muscle strength among the subjects are scarce globally.The main aim of this study was to screen the status of malnutrition using appropriate screening tools and to assess hand muscle strength among subjects.Method:A cross-sectional study was conducted on 64 subjects(18–80 years old,59 males and 5 females)in Mysore city,Karnataka.The patients were screened for malnutrition using a standard tool Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment(PG-SGA)and handgrip strength on both dominant and nondominant hands.Results:The majority of patients(n=44)were categorized as moderately malnourished/suspected malnutrition(Stage B)according to PG-SGA.A significant difference(p<0.005)in handgrip strength was seen in men aged 31–40(t=?3.287)and 41–50(t=?5.487)years compared to healthy adults.Conclusion:This study was able to identify patients at risk of malnutrition when the PG-SGA tool was used along with handgrip strength and other anthropometric parameters. | Akshatha Nagaraj Thantry Asna Urooj Dinesh Halumathigatta Nagappa | 2022 | Chronic Diseases and Translational Medicine2022，8，4： | 1 |

| 14 | A Constant Gain and Miniaturized Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna for 5G Communication Applications显示文摘This paper proposes a stable gain and a compact Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna(AVA)for a 38GHz band of 5G communication.A novel compact AVA is designed to provide constant gain,high front to back ratio(FBR),and very high efficiency.The performance of the proposed AVA is enhanced with the help of a dielectric lens(DL)and corrugations.A rectangular-shaped DL is incorporated in conventional AVA(CAVA)to enhance its gain up to 1 dBi and the bandwidth by 1.8 GHz.Next,the rectangular corrugations are implemented in CAVA with lens(CAVA-L)to further improve the gain and bandwidth.The proposed AVA with lens and corrugations(AVA-LC)gives a constant and high gain of 8.2 to 9 dBi.The designed AVA-LC operates from 34 to 45GHz frequency which covers 38GHz(37.5 to 43.5 GHz)band of 5G applications.Further,the presented AVA-LC mitigates the back lobe and sidelobe levels,resulting in FBR and efficiency improvement.The FBR is in the range of 12.2 to 22 dB,and efficiency is 99%,almost constant.The AVA-LC is fabricated on Roger’s RT/duroid 5880 substrate,and it is tested to verify the simulated results.The proposed compact AVA-LC with high gain,an improved FBR,excellent efficiency,and stable radiation patterns is suitable for the 38GHz band of 5G devices. | Amruta SDixit Sumit Kumar Shabana Urooj | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022，，12： | 1 |
