1Microwave Synthesis of Large Few-Layer Graphene Sheets in Aqueous Solution of Ammonia显示文摘Few-layer graphene (FLG) sheets with sizes exceeding several micrometers have been synthesized by exfoliation of expanded graphite in aqueous solution of ammonia under microwave irradiation, with an overall yield approaching 8 wt.%. Transmission electron microscopy (in bright-field and dark-field modes) together with electron diffraction patterns and atomic force microscopy confirmed that this graphene material consisted mostly of mono-, bi- or few-layer graphene (less than ten layers). The high degree of surface reduction was confirmed by X-ray photoelectron and infrared spectroscopies. In addition, the high stability of the FLG in the liquid medium facilitates the deposition of the graphene material onto several substrates via low-cost solution-phase processing techniques, opening the way to subsequent applications of the material.Izabela Janowska Kambiz Chizari Ovidiu Ersen Spyridon Zafeiratos Driss Soubane Victor Da Costa Virginie Speisser Christine Boeglin Matthieu Houllé Dominique Bégin Dominique Plee Marc-Jacques Ledoux Cuong Pham-Huu 2010Nano Research2010,3,2:22
2Energetic-protein supplementation in the last 60 days of gestation improves performance of beef cows grazing tropical pastures显示文摘Background: Nutrition is one of the most important factors that affect animal performance, and it therefore also impacts on financial results in beef systems. In this way, finding the best strategy for feeding supplements is of paramount importance. Aiming to evaluate the effect of supplement feeding strategies for beef cows in the last third of gestation, two experiments were conducted. In Experiment 1, 35 pregnant Nellore cows were assigned to a completely randomized design with four treatments: control, which received no supplement; supplementation for the last 30 d of gestation(30-d; 3.0 kg/d); supplementation for the last 60 d of gestation(60-d; 1.5 kg/d); or supplementation for the last 90 d of gestation(90-d; 1.0 kg/d). All supplemented treatments received the same total amount of supplement throughout the experiment: 90 kg(20% of crude protein). A second experiment(Experiment 2) was delineated to evaluate the effects of the amounts offered in Experiment 1 on intake and metabolism. Four multiparous pregnant Nellore cows were assigned to a 4 × 4 Latin square design, with periods of15 d each. Results: There was a linear effect of the number of days of supplementation on calving body weight(BW; P < 0.05)and a quadratic effect on BW change from parturition to d 31 post-calving(P < 0.05), with cows on the 60-d strategy losing less BW post-calving. No difference was found in offspring birth BW(P > 0.10). A significant linear effect on interval from parturition to conception(P < 0.05) was observed, with the highest calving to conception interval being observed in the 90-d strategy. The level of supplementation did not affect forage intake or neutral detergent fiber digestibility(P > 0.10). Nitrogen excreted through urine tended to increase linearly with the level of supplementation(P < 0.10).Conclusion: Providing 1.5 kg of supplement during the last 60 d of gestation improves cow performance after calving, reducing the magnitude of BW lost, and reduces the number of days from calving to re-conception in the following breeding season compared to the usually recommended period of supplementation of 90 d pre-partum.Aline Gomes da Silva Mário Fonseca Paulino Edenio Detmann Henrique Jorge Fernandes Lincoln da Silva Amorim Román Enrique Maza Ortega Victor Valério de Carvalho Josilaine Aparecida da Costa Lima Felipe Henrique de Moura Mariana Benevides Monteiro Jéssika Almeida Bitencourt 2018Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2018,9,1:2
3Analysis of alternative parameters of dynamic resistance measurement in high voltage circuit breakers显示文摘Throughout its lifetime,high-voltage circuit breaker(HVCB)contacts suffer from inevitable degradation processes, especially during the formation of electric arcs.Highly degraded contacts can reduce the current interruption capacity and increase the chances of operational faults, which might lead to considerable financial losses. Therefore, the use of efficient evaluating techniques is a key factor to achieve systems reliability. The dynamic resistance measurement(DRM)is a technique that can be used to evaluate the degradation level of HVCB'contacts. It stands out from the usual technique, static resistance measurement,by allowing the assessment of both the main contacts and the arcing contacts(ACs).Usually, the mean resistance or the area under the DRM curve is used to estimate the AC degradation. However,DRM is a non-standardised technique and there are no specified parameters to evaluate the real wear conditions. Therefore,an analysis of alternative parameters extractible from the DRM technique is presented in this study, such as amplitude and variance of the DRM curve. The results attest the possible use of more than one parameter for the continuous evaluation of HVCB ACs,characterising the DRM as a more complete and precise diagnosis tool.Herbet Filipe dos Santos Sousa Adriano Costa de Oliveira George Victor Rocha Xavier Henrique Nunes de Santana Edson Guedes da Costa Tarso Vilela Ferreira 2019High Voltage2019,4,3:1

6Assessment of postcombustion carbon capture technologies for power generation显示文摘A significant proportion of power generation stems from coal-combustion processes and accordingly represents one of the largest point sources of CO_(2)emissions worldwide.Coal power plants are major assets with large infrastructure and engineering units and an operating life span of up to 50 years.Hence, any process design modification to reduce greenhouse gas emissions may require significant investment. One of the best options to utilize existing infrastructure is to retrofit the power station fleet by adding a separation process to the flue gas,a practice known as postcombustion capture(PCC).This review examines the recent PCC development and provides a summary and assessment of the state of play in this area and its potential applicability to the power generation industry. The major players including the various institutes, government, and industry consortia are identified along with flue gas PCC demonstration scale plants.Of the PCC technologies reviewed,amine-based absorption is preeminent, being both the most mature and able to be adapted immediately,to the appropriate scale, for power station flue gas with minimal technical risk.Indeed, current commercial applications serve niches in the merchant CO_(2)market,while a substantial number of smaller scale test facilities are reported in the literature with actual CO_(2)capture motivated demonstrations now commencing.Hybrid membrane/absorption systems, also known as membrane contactors, offer the potential for the lowest energy requirements, possibly 10%of current direct scrubbers but are at an early stage of development.Other methods being actively pursued as R&D projects include solid absorbents, solid adsorbents, gas membrane separators, and cryogenic separation. The variety and different maturities of these competing technologies make technical comparison largely subjective, but useful insights could be gained through the development and application of econometric techniques such as‘real options’within this context.Despite these limitations,it is clear from this review that amine scrubbing is likely to be adapted first into the existing power station fleet, while less mature technologies will grow and become integrated with the development of future power stations.Mikel C.DUKE Bradley LADEWIG Simon SMART Victor RUDOLPH João C.Diniz da COSTA 2010Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2010,4,2:0
