| 1 | Modeling the impact of the viaduct on particles dispersion from vehicle exhaust in street canyons显示文摘In this paper,the impact of the viaduct on flow and traffic exhausting particles dispersion within urban street canyons was nu-merically simulated using a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) model.Two-dimensional flow and dispersion of particles from traffic exhausts were modeled using the standard k-? turbulence model.The street canyons with a viaduct at different widths and different heights above the ground are simulated.The results show that the airflow in street canyon is evidently in-fluenced by the viaduct:The position of the main vortex center is changed,especially there are two strong vortexes when the viaduct is placed at 10 m height above the ground.It is found based on the study of the particles number concentrations(PNCs) that the viaduct may mitigate the pollution level in the street canyon sometimes.The impact of the viaduct width on PNCs is stronger than that of the height.The study of PNDs reveals that the mean PNCs at the wall of upwind building increase when a viaduct is placed in street canyon.In addition,it is found based on the study of mean particles residence time(PRT) that the removal of the particles strongly correlates to the mean PNCs.The results indicate that the viaduct is an important factor to in-fluence the flow patterns and particles dispersion in street canyons. | ZHANG ChuanFu WEN Mou ZENG JianRong ZHANG GuiLin FANG HaiPing LI Yan | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1: | 5 |
| 2 | Numerical and Experimental Investigations on Tunable Low-frequency Locally Resonant Metamaterials显示文摘In this paper,a tunable locally resonant metamaterial is proposed for low-frequency band gaps.The local resonator composed of two pairs of folded slender beams and a proof mass is designed based on the theory of compliant mechanism.The design optimization on geometric parameters is carried out to fulfil the quasi-zero-stiffness property.The locally resonant metamaterial is formed by periodically arranged unit cells,and the transmittance of longitudinal wave is studied through three aspects:numerical predictions,finite element simulations and experimental tests.The variation trends revealed by these three methods match well with one another:the band gap moves to lower frequency and both its depth and width get smaller and smaller with the increase of pre-compression(Δ).The band gap overlays the frequency range of 73.10–92.38 Hz and 16.78–19.49 Hz atΔ=0mm andΔ=10mm,respectively,providing a wide range of tunability.Besides,the ultralow-frequency band gap can be achieved asΔapproaches 10 mm.This study may provide an avenue for achieving the tunable ultralow-frequency locally resonant band gap. | Qida Lin Jiaxi Zhou Hongbin Pan Daolin Xu Guilin Wen | 2021 | Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2021,34,5: | 4 |

| 4 | Efficient,high-resolution topology optimization method based on convolutional neural networks显示文摘Topology optimization is a pioneer design method that can provide various candidates with high mechanical properties.However,high resolution is desired for optimum structures,but it normally leads to a computationally intractable puzzle,especially for the solid isotropic material with penalization(SIMP)method.In this study,an efficient,high-resolution topology optimization method is developed based on the super-resolution convolutional neural network(SRCNN)technique in the framework of SIMP.SRCNN involves four processes,namely,refinement,path extraction and representation,nonlinear mapping,and image reconstruction.High computational efficiency is achieved with a pooling strategy that can balance the number of finite element analyses and the output mesh in the optimization process.A combined treatment method that uses 2D SRCNN is built as another speed-up strategy to reduce the high computational cost and memory requirements for 3D topology optimization problems.Typical examples show that the high-resolution topology optimization method using SRCNN demonstrates excellent applicability and high efficiency when used for 2D and 3D problems with arbitrary boundary conditions,any design domain shape,and varied load. | Liang XUE Jie LIU Guilin WEN Hongxin WANG | 2021 | Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering2021,16,1: | 3 |
| 5 | Fractional-order visco-plastic constitutive model for uniaxial ratcheting behaviors显示文摘This paper proposes a novel unified visco-plastic constitutive model for uniaxial ratcheting behaviors. The cyclic deformation of the material presents remarkable time-dependence and history memory phenomena. The fractional(fractional-order)derivative is an efficient tool for modeling these phenomena. Therefore, we develop a cyclic fractional-order unified visco-plastic(FVP) constitutive model. Specifically, within the framework of the cyclic elasto-plastic theory, the fractional derivative is used to describe the accumulated plastic strain rate and nonlinear kinematic hardening rule based on the Ohno-Abdel-Karim model. Moreover, a new radial return method for the back stress is developed to describe the unclosed hysteresis loops of the stress-strain properly.The capacity of the FVP model used to predict the cyclic deformation of the SS304 stainless steel is verified through a comparison with the corresponding experimental data found in the literature(KANG, G. | 12 | Design and experimental study of a compact quasi-zero-stiffness isolator using wave springs显示文摘The quasi-zero-stiffness(QZS)vibration isolation has been proven to be an effective way to isolate low-frequency vibration.However,most of the existing QZS isolators are space-consuming,which could not be employed in the space-limited circumstances.In this paper,a quite compact QZS isolator is engineered by connecting a pair of mutually repulsive magnet rings and a space-saving wave spring in parallel,called WQZS isolator.The restoring force of the magnet ring is derived by the equivalent magnetic charge method,and an empirical formula for the restoring force of the wave spring is derived by the least squares method based on experimental data.The dynamic model of the WQZS vibration isolation system is built,and the vibration isolation performance is evaluated through transmissibility.Finally,an experimental prototype is fabricated,and the experimental tests on frequency sweep are carried out.The results show that compared with the linear counterpart,the vibration isolation frequency of the WQZS isolator is reduced by 48.89%,and the peak transmissibility is decreased by 59.33%.Most importantly,the space occupancy of the WQZS isolator designed in this paper is much lower than that of the traditional QZS isolators,and thus it should be a potential solution for low-frequency vibration isolation in the space-limited environment. | WANG Qiang ZHOU JiaXi WANG Kai XU DaoLin WEN GuiLin | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,10: | 1 |

| 14 | Science with the 2.5-meter Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST)显示文摘The Wide Field Survey Telescope(WFST) is a dedicated photometric surveying facility being built jointly by University of Science and Technology of China(USTC) and the Purple Mountain Observatory(PMO). It is equipped with a 2.5-meter diameter primary mirror, an active optics system, and a mosaic CCD camera with 0.73 gigapixels on the primary focal plane for highquality image capture over a 6.5-square-degree field of view. The installation of WFST near the summit of Saishiteng mountain in the Lenghu region is scheduled in summer of 2023, and the operation is planned to start three months later. WFST will scan the northern sky in four optical bands(u, g, r and i) at cadences from hourly/daily in the deep high-cadence survey(DHS) program, to semi-weekly in the wide field survey(WFS) program. During a photometric night, a nominal 30 s exposure in the WFS program will reach a depth of 22.27, 23.32, 22.84, and 22.31(AB magnitudes) in these four bands, respectively, allowing for the detection of a tremendous amount of transients in the low-z universe and a systematic investigation of the variability of Galactic and extragalactic objects. In the DHS program, intranight 90 s exposures as deep as 23(u) and 24 mag(g), in combination with target of opportunity follow-ups, will provide a unique opportunity to explore energetic transients in demand for high sensitivities, including the electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave events, supernovae within a few hours of their explosions,tidal disruption events and fast, luminous optical transients even beyond redshift of unity. In addition, the final 6-year co-added images, anticipated to reach g■25.8 mag in WFS or 1.5 mags deeper in DHS, will be of fundamental importance to general Galactic and extragalactic science. The highly uniform legacy surveys of WFST will serve as an indispensable complement to those of the Vera C.
