1Carrier-assisted differential detection显示文摘To overcome power fading induced by chromatic dispersion in optical fiber communications,optical field recovery is a promising solution for direct detection short-reach applications,such as fast-evolving data center interconnects(DCIs).To date,various direct detection schemes capable of optical field recovery have been proposed,including Kramers−Kronig(KK)and signal−signal beat interference(SSBI)iterative cancellation(IC)receivers.However,they are all restricted to the single sideband(SSB)modulation format,thus conspicuously losing half of the electrical spectral efficiency(SE)compared with double sideband(DSB)modulation.Additionally,SSB suffers from the noise folding issue,requiring a precise optical filter that complicates the receiver design.As such,it is highly desirable to investigate the field recovery of DSB signals via direct detection.In this paper,for the first time,we propose a novel receiver scheme called carrier-assisted differential detection(CADD)to realize optical field recovery of complex-valued DSB signals via direct detection.First,CADD doubles the electrical SE compared with the KK and SSBI IC receivers by adopting DSB modulation without sacrificing receiver sensitivities.Furthermore,by using direct detection without needing a precise receiver optical filter,CADD can employ cost-effective uncooled lasers as opposed to expensive temperature-controlled lasers in coherent systems.Our proposed receiver architecture opens a new class of direct detection schemes that are suitable for photonic integration analogous to homodyne receivers in coherent detection.William Shieh Chuanbowen Sun Honglin Ji 2020Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1:2

16Gelatin encapsulation of chloropicrin and 1,3-dichloropropene as fumigants for soilborne diseases in the greenhouse cultivation of cucumber and tomato显示文摘Combined use of chloropicrin(Pic) and 1,3-dicloropropene(1,3-D) is as effective as methyl bromide(MB) at controlling soilborne diseases in many trials and commercial uses. However, Pic and 1,3-D are both highly volatile and may pose strong exposure risks to humans and the environment. A gelatin capsule formulation containing Pic and 1,3-D has been developed to reduce exposure risks to workers and bystanders and improved application safety. We conducted two experiments in tomato and cucumber greenhouses located in Beijing and Qingdao, China, to study the efficacy of Pic plus 1,3-D gelatin capsules applied at different dosages and soil depths. Results indicated that both injection and gelatin capsules of Pic plus 1,3-D provided good control of soil nematodes and reduced disease index of Fusarium wilt and root-knot nematode. Plant yield of tomato and cucumber treated with gelatin capsules was similar to MB treatment. Based on our results, gelatin capsules applied at a soil depth of 15 cm provided better control of soilborne diseases and led to higher fruit yield compared to an application depth of 5 cm. 17新型光接收系统架构:应用于超大容量低成本的短距光互连显示文摘大规模数据中心等新兴网络基础设施的部署急需超大容量低成本的短距光互连系统。传统的直调直检系统拥有简单的接收机结构,但只能检测信号的强度信息,这限制了其系统容量的进一步扩展。经典的相干传输系统能够调制解调高阶信号进而实现大容量传输,但收/发端都需要昂贵的窄线宽激光器和高复杂度的数字信号处理,这阻碍了其在短距光互连中的广泛应用。新型的直接检测光接收系统旨在结合直接检测和相干检测两者的优点,弥补二者之间的研究空白。因此,新型的光接收系统架构主要基于自相干检测。介绍了新型单偏振、双偏振、少模光接收系统架构。该类新型的光接收系统不需要本振激光器且能通过直接检测恢复光场信号,实现超大容量低成本的短距光互连。计红林 李雪阳 贺志学 胡卫生 William Shieh 2022电信科学2022,38,7:0
