| 1 | Nano-bio interfaces probed by advanced optical spectroscopy:From model system studies to optical biosensors显示文摘Research in biology and medicine is a rapidly expanding field incorporating some of the most fundamental questions concerning structure, function, and purpose. The forefront of new research demands access to advanced techniques and instrumentation capable of probing these unanswered questions. Over the past several decades, nano-scale materials and devices ranging from quasione dimensional quantum dots to two dimensional graphene sheets have been engineered and have found applications in nano-bio imaging and spectroscopy. In this review, the incorporation of nanomaterials into three influential spectroscopic and microscopic techniques including fluorescence microscopy, surface plasmon resonance, and sum frequency generation will be introduced. Fluorescence imaging has visualized nanomaterials as compliments or replacements to comparable organic fluorphores, act as a quencher for FRET-based sensing, and serve as a nanoscaffold for molecular beacons. Their versatility in coating materials makes nanomaterials an excellent targeting molecule for any cellular macromolecule or structure. In addition to the targeting capabilities of nanomaterials in fluorescence imaging, surface plasmon resonance has incorporated nanomaterials for applications in signal enhancement, selectivity of target molecules, and the development of more refined and accurate detection. Functionalized nano-particles enhance the capabilities of sum frequency generation vibrational spectroscopy by providing unique surface chemistry which alters target molecule interactions and orientations. In summary, the incorporation of nanomaterials has greatly enhanced the field of biology and medicine and has allowed for the continual advancement of not only research but instrument development. | ZHANG XiaoXian HAN XiaoFeng WU FuGen JASENSKY Joshua CHEN Zhan | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,21: | 9 |
| 2 | 3-D Fracture Network Modelling in Hydropower Engineering Based on Optimal Monte Carlo Simulation显示文摘Effectively and accurately modelling the spatial relation of fracture surfaces is crucial in the design and construction of large hydropower dams having a complex underlying geology. However, fracture surfaces are randomly formed and vary greatly with respect to their spatial distribution, which makes the construction of accurate 3-D models challenging. In this study, we use an optimal Monte Carlo simulation and dynamic conditioning to construct a fracture network model. We found the optimal Monte Carlo simulation to effectively reduce the error associated with the Monte Carlo method and use dynamic conditioning to ensure the consistency of the model with the actual distribution of fractures on the excavation faces and outcrops. We applied this novel approach to a hydropower station on the Jinshajiang River, China. The simulation results matched the real sampled values well, confirming that the model is capable of effectively and accurately simulating the spatial relations in a fracture network. | Pan Yue Denghua Zhong Fugen Yan Han Wu Yichi Zhang | 2017 | Transactions of Tianjin University2017,23,4: | 2 |

| 8 | Ultra-broadband near infrared phosphor with wide spectral range and long peak wavelength achieved by double-site occupation显示文摘The miniaturization and intelligence of near infrared(NIR)devices urgently require an excellent broadband NIR phosphor. However, emission spectra of most NIR phosphors cover less than 1200 nm with a full width at half maximum(FWHM)less than 200 nm and a peak wavelength less than 900 nm.Here,we successfully developed ultra-broadband NIR phosphors ScNbO_(4):Cr^(3+)which can overcome the above shortcomings based on a double-site occupancy strategy. The phosphors achieve ultra-broadband NIR emission from 800 to 1400 nm with a peak wavelength at 980 nm.Its FWHM is up to 217 nm.The valence state of Cr ions in phosphors was analyzed. The double-site occupancy of Cr^(3+)ions in the host and the relationship between host structure and optical properties are discussed in detail.NIR light transmission experiments show that phosphors have potential application value in non-destructive analysis. This work develops an excellent NIR luminescent material and provides an efficient method to obtain ultra-broadband NIR phosphors with longer peak wavelength. | Shuwen Yuan Fugen Wu Jin Wang Lulu Lou Shuang Zhao Daoyun Zhu Zhongfei Mu | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,11: | 1 |
