| 1 | Discovery of mitochondrial chimeric-gene associated with cytoplasmic male sterility of HL-rice显示文摘The mitochondrial genome libraries of HL-type sterile line(A) and maintainer line(B) have been constructed. Mitochondrial gene, atp6, was used to screen libraries, due to the different Southern and Northern blot results between sterile and maintainer line. Sequencing analysis of positive clones proved that there were two copies of atp6 gene in sterile line and only one in maintainer line. One copy of atpt6 in sterile line was same to that in maintainer line; the other showed different flanking sequence from the 49th nucleotide downstream of the termination codon of atp6 gene. A new chimeric gene, orfH79, was found in the region. | 2 | Impact of postoperative omega-3 fatty acid-supplemented parenteral nutrition on clinical outcomes and immunomodulations in colorectal cancer patients显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effect of omega-3 fatty acid parenteral supplementation postoperatively on clinical outcomes and immunomodulation in colorectal cancer patients. METHODS: Forty-two patients undergoing radical colorectal cancer resection with an indication for total parenteral nutrition postoperatively were enrolled in this prospective, double-blind, randomized, controlled study. Patients received total parenteral nutrition supplemented with either soybean oil (LCT; Intralipid, Fresenius-Kabi, SO group, n = 21) or a combination of omega-3 fish oil and soybean oil (LCT:fish oil = 5:1, fish oil; Omegaven, Fresenius-Kabi, FO group, n = 21), up to a total of 1.2 g lipid/kg per day for 7 d postoperatively. A same volume calorie and nitrogen was administrated. Routine blood test, biochemistry, systemic levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, percentage of CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ lymphocytes were evaluated preoperatively and on postoperative d 1 and 8. Patient outcome was evaluated considering mortality during the hospital stay, length of postoperative hospital stay, and occurrence of infectious complications. RESULTS: Both lipid regimens were well tolerated. No differences between the two groups were noticed in demographics, baseline blood test, biochemistry, serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α, percentage of CD4+, CD8+ lymphocytes, and ratios of CD4+/CD8+. Compared with those on postoperative d 1, serum IL-6 levels onpostoperative d 8 were significantly depressed in the FO group than in the reference group (-44.43 ± 30.53 vs -8.39 ± 69.08, P = 0.039). Simultaneously, the ratios of CD4+/CD8+ were significantly increased in the FO group (0.92 ± 0.62 vs 0.25 ± 1.22, P = 0.035). In addition, depression of serum TNF-α levels (-0.82 ± 2.71 vs 0.27 ± 1.67, P = 0.125) and elevation of CD3+ and CD4+ lymphocyte percentage (12.85 ± 11.61 vs 3.84 ± 19.62, P = 0.081, 17.80 ± 10.86 vs 9.66 ± 17.55, P = 0.084, respectively) were higher in the FO group than in the reference group. Patients in the FO group trended to need a shorter postoperative hospital stay (17.45 ± 4.80 d vs 19.62 ± 5.59 d, P = 0.19). No statistically significant difference was found when stratified to mortality and occurrence of infectious complications. | 6 | Necessity and indications of invasive treatment for Budd-Chiari syndrome显示文摘BACKGROUND:The development of collaterals in Budd-Chiari syndrome has been described and these collaterals play an important role in the presentation of this disease.These collaterals are diagnostic and their use in management strategy has never been evaluated.This study aimed to investigate the indications,feasibility and necessity of invasive treatment for patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome and to determine whether such a strategy is necessary for optimal management.METHODS:Twenty-nine patients who had been treated at our unit were enrolled in this study.Based on physical and biochemical examination,and hemodynamic compensation by collaterals,18 patients underwent radiological intervention (group A),while the other 11 had no invasive treatment (group B).The related hemodynamic parameters were acquired when percutaneous angiography was performed.RESULTS:In group A,all patients underwent successfully inferior vena cava (IVC) balloon angioplasty with or without stenting.Four patients also underwent hepatic vein angioplasty.In these patients,the mean IVC pressure before and after treatment was statistically different (29.3±9.2 vs 15.1±4.6 mmHg,P<0.01).The mean IVC pressure was much lower in group B than in group A (12.9±2.4 vs 29.3±9.2 mmHg,P<0.01),but there was no difference from that of the patients after radiological treatment (12.9±2.4 vs 15.1±4.6 mmHg,P>0.05).Median follow-up was 32.3 months (mean 21.3 months;range 3-61 months).In the course of follow-up,the patients in group A survived with good systemic status except for re-stenosis in one patient who underwent re-canalization of the IVC.In group B,10 patients had good systemic status except one patient who had a meso-caval shunt because of deterioration.CONCLUSIONS:The rationale of 'early diagnosis and early treatment' is not suitable for all patients with Budd-Chiari syndrome.Satisfactory survival can be achieved in some patients without invasive treatment,who are completely compensated by rich collaterals.Nonetheless,a positive treatment procedure should be performed if the patient's situation worsens in the course of regular follow-up. | Department of General Surgery (Fu Y,Sun YL,Ma XX,Xu PQ,Feng LS,Tang Z and Luo CH),Institute of Hepatic Vascular Disease (Sun YL),Department of Radiological Intervention (Guan S and Wang ZW),First Affiliated Hospital,Zhengzhou University School of Medicine,Zhengzhou 450052,China | 2011 | Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2011，10，3： | 10 |

| 9 | Impact of Low Frequency Electro-acupuncture on Glucose and Lipid Metabolism in Unmarried PCOS Women:A Randomized Controlled Trial显示文摘Objective:To explore the effect of electro-acupuncture(EA)on glucose and lipid metabolism in unmarried patients with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods:Fifty-four PCOS patients were equally randomized into true acupuncture group and sham acupuncture group(control)for totally 16 weeks of treatment by random method with a computerized randomization program.Patients in true acupuncture group accepted traditional acupuncture methods with EA and two sets of acupoint groups were used alternatively.The first set consisted of Zhongji(CV 3),Qihai(CV 6),Guilai(ST 29),Sanyinjiao(SP 6),Yinlingquan(SP 9),Hegu(LI4)and Baihui(GV 20),and the second set consisted of Tianshu(ST 25),ST 29,CV 3,CV 6,SP 6,Taichong(LR 3),Neiguan(PC)6 and GV 20.Patients in the sham acupuncture group accepted shallow acupuncture methods through EA without electricity at 4 non-meridian points in each shoulder and upper arm.Outcome measures included body mass index(BMI),waist-hip-ratio(WHR),oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT),insulin release test,glucose and lipid metabolism indicators such as total cholesterol(TC),triglycerides,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,adiponectin,leptin,visfatin,resistin,and interleukin(IL-6).Results:Twenty-six subjects in the true acupuncture group and 20 subjects in the sham group completed the clinical trial.After 16 weeks of treatment,no significant difference in the outcome measures were observed between the two groups(P>0.05).However,as compared with baseline data,a reduction in weight,BMI,hipline,WHR,fasting glucose,homeostatic model assessment of insulin sensitivity,visfatin and HDL-C,and an increase in resistin and IL-6 were observed in the true acupuncture group(P<0.05).In addition,a reduction in visfatin and an increase in TC were also observed in the sham group(P<0.05).Conclusions:Acupuncture may have a beneficial effect in the treatment of PCOS by improving glucose and lipid metabolism.Moreover,the sham acupuncture may be not completely ineffective.Sham acupuncture may improve some of the aspects of the glucose and lipid metabolism of PCOS patients through a placebo effect.(Registration Nos.ChiCTR-TRC-12002529 and NCT01812161) | DONG Hao-xu WANG Qing WANG Zhi WU Xiao-ke CHENG Ling ZHOU Zhong-ming YANG Li Yl Ping HUANG Dong-mei | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2021，27，10： | 4 |

There may be some relationship between RNA editing and cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS), a kind of phenomenon that is attributed to mitochondrial genome mutations. The research materials used are the gametophytic male sterility line (A), maintainer line (B) and F1 hybrid (F1) of HL-type CMS rice. cDNAs and DNAs of atp6 and coxII have been obtained from A, B and F1 by PCR and RT-PCR. Comparing sequences of cDNAs and DNAs, 18 and 15 editing sites were found respectively in the transcripts of atp6 and coxll. A, B and F1 shared the same editing sites. | 12 | Static Adsorption of Xenon on ACF at 257 K显示文摘The static adsorption of xenon on active carbon fiber (ACF) at 257 K was measured with ASAP2010 specific surface area and pore diameter distribution instrument by changing the working gas from nitrogen to xenon. Compared with grain activated carbon (GAC), the results were as follows: (1) The adsorption performance of Viscose-based ACF (VACF-As) was the best among all absorbents tested. VACF-A3 was the superior xenon absorbent.
