1Bi-metallic catalysts of mesoporous Al_2O_3 supported on Fe, Ni and Mn for methane decomposition: Effect of activation temperature显示文摘Methane decomposition reaction has been studied at three different activation temperatures(500°C,800°C and950°C)over mesoporous alumina supported Ni–Fe and Mn–Fe based bimetallic catalysts. On co-impregnation of Ni on Fe/Al_2O_3the activity of the catalyst was retained even at the high activation temperature at 950°C and up to180 min.The Ni promotion enhanced the reducibility of Fe/Al_2O_3oxides showing higher catalytic activity with a hydrogen yield of 69%.The reactivity of bimetallic Mn and Fe over Al_2O_3catalyst decreased at 800°C and 950°C activation temperatures.Regeneration studies revealed that the catalyst could be effectively recycled up to 9times.The addition of O_2(1 ml,2 ml,4 ml)in the feed enhanced substantially CH_4conversion,the yield of hydrogen and the stability of the catalyst.Anis H.Fakeeha Ahmed S.Al-Fatesh Biswajit Chowdhury Ahmed A.Ibrahim Wasim U.Khan Shahid Hassan Kasim Sasudeen Ahmed Elhag Abasaeed 2018Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,9:3
2Assessment of the spatial extent of permafrost in the Upper Indus Basin(UIB)显示文摘Climate change differentially influences the frozen ground,a major dynamic component of the cryosphere,on a local and regional scale.Under the warming climate with pronounced effects reported at higher altitudes, the characterization of the frozen ground is very important in the Upper Indus Basin(UIB),an important and critical region with respect to climate and hydro-glaciological dynamics. In this study, the efficiency and reliability of the surface frost number model are assessed in delineating the spatial extent of different classes of frozen ground in the region. The daily MODIS land surface temperature(LST)with ground surface temperature(GST)and surface geomorphological expressions as ground validation datasets are used jointly in efficiently determining the extent of different classes of frozen ground(continuous and discontinuous permafrost and seasonal frost). The LST and GST resonate with each other in the annual cycle of temperature variation, however, with mean annual LST exhibiting an offset(cold bias)of 5 to 7℃relative to mean GST.This study shows that the highest permafrost extent is observed in areas where the lowest thinning rates of glacier ice are reported and vice versa. The surface frost number model categorizes an area of 38%±3%and 15%±3%in the UIB as permafrost and seasonal frost, respectively.Based on the altitude model, the lower limit of alpine permafrost is approximated at a mean altitude of 4919±590 m a.s.l.in the UIB.The present study acts as preliminary work in the data sparse and inaccessible regions of the UIB in characterizing the frozen and unfrozen ground and may act as a promising input data source in glaciohydro-meteorological models for the Himalaya and Karakoram. In addition, the study also underlines the consideration of this derelict cryospheric climatic variable in defining and accounting for the sustainable development of socio-economic systems through its intricate ramification on agricultural activity, landscape stability and infrastructure.Wasim HASSAN G.JEELANI A.P.DIMRI Marcus NüSSER 2023Journal of Mountain Science2023,20,6:0
3Helicobacter pylori outer membrane protein Q genotypes and their susceptibility to antiadhesive phytotherapeutic agents显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Helicobacter pylori is a Gram-negative organism. Its outer membrane protein Q(Hop Q) mediates host-pathogen interactions; Hop Q genotypes 1 and 2 are found associating with gastroduodenal pathologies. The authors measured the anti-adhesion effects of the extracts of Abelmoschus esculentus, Zingiber officinale, Trachyspermum ammi, Glycyrrhiza glabra, Curcuma longa and Capsicum annum against Hop Q genotypes and H. pylori cytotoxin-associated gene A(Cag A).METHODS: DNA was extracted by polymerase chain reaction of the Hop Q genotypes(i.e., type 1, type 2 and Cag A) from 115 H. pylori strains. The effect of the extracts from selected dietary ingredients was determined using a gastric adenocarcinoma cell line and a quantitative DNA fragmentation assay. The anti-adhesive effect of these extracts on H. pylori was tested using an anti-adhesion analysis.RESULTS: C. annum, C. longa and A. esculentus showed prominent anti-adhesion effects with resultant values of 17.3% ± 2.9%, 14.6% ± 3.7%, 13.8% ± 3.6%, respectively, against Hop Q type 1 and 13.1% ± 1.7%, 12.1% ± 2%, 11.1% ± 1.6%, respectively, against Hop Q type 2. C. longa(93%), C. annum(89%) and A. esculentus(75%) had better anti-adhesive activity against H. pylori with Hop Q type 1 compared to Hop Q type 2 with respective values of 70%, 64% and 51%. Extracts of C. annum(14.7% ± 4.1%), A. esculentus(12.3% ± 4.1%) and Z. officinale(8.4% ± 2.8%) had an anti-adhesion effect against Cag A-positive H. pylori strains compared to Cag A-negative strains.Javed Yakoob Zaigham Abbas Malik Hassan Mehmood Kanwal Tariq Saima Azhar Saleem Safia Awan Abdul Malik Saeed Hamid Rustam Khan Wasim Jafri 2017Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,15,5:0
