| 1 | Cadmium accumulation and tolerance of two castor cultivars in relation to antioxidant systems显示文摘To investigate the effects of Cd on tolerance and antioxidant activities of castor, two different castor(Ricinus communis L.) cultivars(Zibo No. 5 and Zibo No. 8) were used for a hydroponic experiment(0, 1 and 2 mg/L Cd) and a pot experiment using Cd-contaminated soil(34 mg/kg) with the addition of ethylenedinitrilotetraacetic acid(EDTA). The results indicated that there were significant differences between the two cultivars with respect to Cd uptake in shoots(113–248 mg/kg for Zibo No. 5 and 130–288 mg/kg Zibo No. 8), biomass tolerance indexes(64.9%–74.6% for Zibo No. 5 and 80.1%–90.9% for Zibo No. 8) in the hydroponic experiment and survival rates(0% for Zibo No. 5 and 100% for Zibo No. 8)determined by the addition of EDTA in the pot experiment, suggesting that Zibo No. 8 has higher tolerance than Zibo No. 5. Moreover, the castor cultivars have low bioconcentration factors(4.80% for Zibo No. 5 and 5.43% for Zibo No. 8) and low translocation factors(<1%).Consequently, Zibo No. 8 can participate in Cd phytostabilization in highly Cd-polluted areas. The results indicated that glutathione(GSH) as a non-enzymatic antioxidant, and antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT) and guaiacol peroxidase(GPX), were cultivar- and dose-dependent. | 2 | Hysteresis in sap flow and its controlling mechanisms for a deciduous broad-leaved tree species in a humid karst region显示文摘The critical zone(CZ) represents the intersection of the biosphere with the atmosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere.Understanding the hydrological processes and human impact factors on the CZ is fundamental to sustainable water resources management for agroforestry. Transpiration(T) is an important component of terrestrial evapotranspiration(ET), and understanding the time lag(TL) between vegetation transpiration and meteorological factors can improve our knowledge of the mechanisms of vegetation adaptability to a changing environment. However, the controlling factors on the TL remain poorly understood. Therefore, the objective of this study is identifying the temporal dynamics of key controlling factors on the TL, using a typical deciduous broad-leaved tree species(Zenia insigins Chun) of CZ in subtropical humid karst regions. This species is used as an example to explore the characteristics of the TL between SF(sap flow) and hydro-meteorological forcing. Sap flow in these 6 trees was monitored using the thermal dissipation probes(TDP). Results showed that:(1) the peak of diurnal sap flow generally lagged behind PAR but preceded Ta(air temperature), RH(relative humidity) and VPD(vapor pressure deficit), with the mean TL of-67.4 min(PAR), 90.5 min(Ta), 91.6 min(RH) and 92.9 min(VPD), respectively;(2) TL had no significant relationships with the daily mean meteorological factors and soil moisture, but was highly(R^2>0.66) correlated to CRs(changing rates of meteorological factors) in the morning;(3) At seasonal scale, the sap flow rate and TL both were controlled by the seasonality of precipitation and temperature. Overall, the seasonality of the TL was caused by plants' high water loss and strongly active physiological response in hot seasons, leading to close stomata earlier than in cold seasons;(4) The reason why CRs proposed can explain the TL better than mean values of metrological factors is that the CRs considered the distribution and change processes of metrological factors in the daytime. | 4 | Antimonene:a long-term stable two-dimensional saturable absorption material under ambient conditions for the mid-infrared spectral region显示文摘We experimentally demonstrate a long-term stable two-dimensional saturable absorption material under ambient conditions—multi-layer antimonene feasible for the mid-infrared spectral region—for the first time to our knowledge. The multi-layer antimonene material prepared using a liquid-phase exfoliation method was coated on a quartz/Ca F_2 for characterizations and an Au mirror as a reflection-type saturable absorber(SA) device. It has a modulation depth of 10.5%, a saturation peak intensity of 0.26 GW∕cm^2, and a non-saturation loss of 19.1% measured at 2868.0 nm using the typical power-dependent method. By introducing the SA device into a linear-cavity Ho^(3+)∕ Pr^(3+)-codoped fluoride fiber laser at 2865.0 nm, stable Q-switched pulses were obtained. It generated a maximum output power of 112.3 m W and pulse energy of 0.72 μJ, while the shortest pulse duration and largest repetition rate were 1.74 μs and 156.2 k Hz, respectively. The long-term stability of the SA device was also checked using the same laser setup within 28 days. | 5 | Isotopic Geochemistry of Cadmium:A Review显示文摘Cadmium(Cd) is a scarce, but not an extremely rare element in the Earth's crust(crustal average: 0.2 ppm Cd). Geochemically, Cd exhibits thiophile, lithophile, and volatile behavior in different geologic processes. Biologically, it is a nutrient-like element that is closely related to P and Zn and is toxic element to organisms. Presently, Cd isotopes have been successfully utilized to trace Cd sources and nutrient cycling in marine systems in addition to unearthing other geochemical processes. Using published studies and our recent work, this survey summarizes the chemical preparation and mass spectrometry of Cd isotopes. | 6 | Optimized design and experiment on ring mold pelletizer for producing biomass fuel pellets显示文摘The forming process of biomass fuel pellets using a ring mold pelletizer was analyzed,optimized,tested and evaluated in this study.The effects of stress amplitude and the stress ratio on the fatigue failure of the ring mold under 4-,3-,and 2-roller designs were investigated.Depending on the calculation of stress amplitude acting on the ring mold,the 4-roller design was chosen for having the smallest value of stress amplitude in this condition.After determining the main design parameters,a three-dimensional model of the ring mold pelletizer was established based on the Pro/Engineer software,and the model was transferred into ADAMS software through Mechanism/Pro which is a dedicated interface software.The ADAMS software was used to run simulations.In order to obtain the highest efficiency and the lowest power consumption,the optimal result was the 4-roller design.Finally,a prototype of the ring mold pelletizer with four rollers was designed and manufactured for biomass fuel pellet production.Corn stover biomass was used as material for experimental manufacturing of fuel pellets.Test and evaluation showed that the optimized pellet durability was 99.79%with ground corn stover particles passing a screen size of 1.97 mm,moisture content of 21.2%w.b.and a material moisture conditioning time of 3.82 h.Pellets formed in the prototype ring mold pelletizer using corn stover had acceptable durability according to European standards. | Gao Wei Lope G Tabil Zhao Rongfei Liu Dejun | 2016 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,3: | 3 |

| 13 | Chalcogen-dependent catalytic properties of RuX2 (X = S/Se/Te) nanoparticles decorated carbon nanofibers for hydrogen evolution in acidic and alkaline media显示文摘Transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs),with the general formula MX_(2)(M=Mo/W/Fe/Co/Ni,etc.;X=S/Se/Te),have attracted extensive research interests for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Compared with numerous studies on noble-metal-free TMDs,the chalcogen-dependent HER catalytic properties of noble-metal-based TMDs are lack of sufficient research attention.Herein,a facile electrospinning-assisted synthetic strategy is proposed to synthesize ruthenium dichalcogenides(RuX_(2),X=S/Se/Te)nanoparticles decorated carbon nanofibers(CNFs).Benefiting from the identical nanofibrous morphology and exposed crystal planes of RuX_(2)(111),the catalytic activities of RuX_(2)@CNFs samples were investigated and compared in a fair and direct manner.Detailed electrochemical measurements coupled with density functional theory calculations were carried out to probe their intrinsic HER catalytic activities,resulting in the catalytic activity order of RuS_(2)@CNFs>RuSe_(2)@CNFs>RuTe_(2)@CNFs in acidic media and that of RuS_(2)@CNFs>RuTe_(2)@CNFs>RuSe_(2)@CNFs in alkaline media.The superior catalytic performance of RuS_(2)@CNFs mainly stems from the relative lower HER energy barriers and thereby the higher intrinsic catalytic activity of RuS_(2)(111),leading to ultralow overpotentials of 44 and 9 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2) in acidic and alkaline media,respectively.RuSe_(2)(111)is endowed with the more optimized Gibbs free energy of hydrogen adsorption(ΔGH*)than RuTe_(2)(111),but RuTe_(2)(111)shows enhanced catalytic property for H_(2)O dissociation and OH-desorption than RuSe_(2)(111),therefore,resulting in the altered catalytic activity sequences for RuSe_(2) and RuTe_(2) in acidic and alkaline media. | Chengkai He Yue Wei Jia Xu Yujie Wei Tao Wang Rongfei Liu Lvlv Ji Zhun Liu Sheng Wang | 2024 | Nano Research2024,17,4: | 0 |
