| 1 | Ethylene Emission as a Potential Indicator of Fuji Apple Flavor Quality Evaluation Under Low Temperature显示文摘Fuji apple(Malus×domestica Borkh.)is a popular fruit cultivar and occupies an important position in the fruit market due to its excellent flavor and storage quality.Ethylene emission can induce respiration, which would reduce postharvest quality and increase storage losses. In order to maintain fruit quality and extend shelf life, apples are usually stored in a low-temperature environment after harvest to reduce the formation of ethylene.Volatile aroma components are regarded as one of the most important aspects of flavor quality and a key factor for apple quality grading and customer satisfaction.Ethylene emission and its relationship with volatile aromas during low temperature, however, have not been determined. In this study, the dynamic changes of volatile aroma compounds of Fuji apples stored at 4°C were detected and analyzed for 42 days. The variation of ethylene released from Fuji apple was studied correspondingly. The results showed that ethyl butyrate, ethyl caproate, ethyl 2-methylbutyrate and 2-methylbutyl acetate were the main aroma components of Fuji apple. The change in ethylene emission and the normalized peak area of volatile aroma compounds exhibited a similar tendency that increased significantly from the 3rd day to the peak on the 14th day and then decreased;there was a positive linear correlation between them with a correlation coefficient of 0.79(P<0.05).Therefore,ethylene release can be used as a potential indicator for evaluation of volatile aroma compounds in apples.Using ethylene emission as an indicator could reduce the difficulty and complexity of volatile aroma evaluation, which could be a new non-destructive inspection choice for apple flavor quality assessment. | Weiyan Qi Haijing Wang Zhen Zhou Peng Yang Wenbin Wu Zhemin Li Xian Li | 2020 | Horticultural Plant Journal2020,6,4: | 18 |
| 2 | Enhanced mechanical properties and degradation rate of Mg-Ni-Y alloy by introducing LPSO phase for degradable fracturing ball applications显示文摘In this work,as-cast Mg-Ni-Y alloys were proposed to develop a feasible material for fracturing balls, and their mechanical performance and corrosion behavior were systematically investigated.Long period stacking order(LPSO)phase was firstly introduced to improve both the mechanical properties and degradation rate of magnesium alloys. With the increase of LPSO phase, the compressive strength was improved significantly, while the elongation of the alloys decreased owing to the relatively brittle nature of LPSO phase.Due to the higher corrosion potential of LPSO phase, the LPSO phase can accelerate the corrosion process by providing more micro-couples.However,the LPSO phase would serve as the corrosion barrier between the corrosion medium and the matrix when the contents of LPSO phase are too high in Mg92.5Ni3Y4.5 and Mg87.5Ni5Y7.5 alloys.As-cast Mg97.5Ni1Y1.5 alloy with satisfactory mechanical properties and rapid degradation rate was successfully developed, exhibiting a high degradation rate of 6675 mm/a(93℃)in 3 wt.%KCl solution and a favorable ultimate compressive strength of 410 MPa.The degradation rate of Mg97.5Ni1Y1.5 alloy is 2-5 times of the current commercial magnesium alloy fracturing materials. | Jingfeng Wang Shiqing Gao Xiuying Liu Xing Peng Kui Wang Shijie Liu Weiyan Jiang Shengfeng Guo Fusheng Pan | 2020 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,1: | 13 |

| 4 | Zinc-finger protein 382 antagonises CDC25A and ZEB1 signaling pathway in breast cancer显示文摘Our previous studies found that Zinc-finger protein 382(ZNF382)played as a tumor suppressor gene in esophageal and gastric cancers, and a positive correlation between the high expression of ZNF382 and better outcome in breast cancer patients. However, the biological roles and mechanisms of ZNF382 in breast cancer remains unclear. We detected ZNF382 expression by reverse-transcription PCR(RT-PCR)and real-time quantitative PCR(qRT-PCR)in breast cancer cells and tissues, and explored the impacts and mechanisms of ectopic ZNF382 expression in breast cancer cells in vitro and in vivo, respectively. Our results revealed that ZNF382 was significantly down-regulated in breast cancer tissues compared with adjacent non-cancer tissues.Restoration of ZNF382 expression in silenced breast cancer cells not only inhibited tumor cell colony formation, viability, migration and invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal-transition(EMT),but also induced apoptosis and G0/G1 arrest. In conclusion,ZNF382 could induce G0/G1 cell cycle arrest through inhibiting CDC25A signaling, and, inhibit cell migration, invasion and EMT by antagonizing ZEB1 signaling in breast cancer cells. | Shuman Li Xiaoqian He Yan Wang Weihong Chen Ran Sun Shaorong Tian Sanxiu He Chunyun Pu Chen Li Dishu Zhou Yu Jiang Qian Tao Lili Li Lin Ye Yue Wu Weiyan Peng Tingxiu Xiang | 2023 | Genes & Diseases2023,10,2: | 1 |
| 5 | Growth inhibition and oxidative stress in two species of marine diatoms exposed to 1-phenylethanol显示文摘1-phenylethanol (1-PEA) is a flavor extensively used in the production of cosmetics, beverages, and food. The release of 1-PEA into coastal environments has aroused great concern. However, its potential effects on marine organisms are still unknown. In order to provide a better understanding of the ecological risks of 1-PEA in marine environments, this study determined the toxic effects of 1-PEA on two marine diatoms (Phaeodactylum tricornutum and Skeletonema costatum). The diatoms were grown in culture medium containing different concentrations of 1-PEA for 96 h. The contents of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll c, glutathione (GSH), malondialdehyde (MDA), and the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx), were measured at the end of the exposure period. 1-PEA was shown to significantly inhibit the growth of diatoms, with 96-h EC50 values of 257.14 mg/Land 126.46 mg/L in P. tricornutum and S. costatum, respectively. In P. tricornutum, the levels of SOD, CAT, GPx, GSH, and MDA were stimulated only when 1-PEA concentrations were close to or greater than the 96-h EC50 value. However, in S. costatum, the activities of SOD and CAT, and the syntheses of two chlorophylls were inhibited even at an exposure concentration below the 96-h EC50 value. Taken together, these findings indicate a potential ecological risk by discharging 1-PEA into coastal areas and its species-specific toxic effects on marine organisms. | DOU Xiang MENG Fanping DUAN Weiyan LIU Qunqun LI Hao DU Shuhao PENG Xiaoling | 2019 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2019,37,4: | 0 |
