| 1 | Soil salt leaching under different irrigation regimes: HYDRUS-1D modelling and analysis显示文摘Field irrigation experiments were conducted in the Hetao Irrigation District of Inner Mongolia,China,to study the effects of irrigation regimes on salt leaching in the soil profile.The data were used to calibrate and validate the HYDRUS-1D model.The results demonstrated that the model can accurately simulate the water and salt dynamics in the soil profile.The HYDRUS-1D model was then used to simulate 15 distinct irrigation scenarios.The results of the simulation indicated that irrigation amount did not have a significant effect on soil water storage but that increases in irrigation amount could accelerate salt leaching.However,when the irrigation amount was larger than 20 cm,the acceleration was not obvious.Compared with irrigating only once,intermittent irrigation had a better effect on increasing soil water storage and salt leaching,but excessive irrigation times and intervals did not improve salt leaching.In addition,we found that the irrigation regime of 20 cm,irrigated twice at 1-d intervals,might significantly increase salt leaching in the plough layer and decrease the risks of deep seepage and groundwater contamination. | WenZhi ZENG Chi XU JingWei WU JieSheng HUANG | 2014 | Journal of Arid Land2014,6,1: | 20 |

| 4 | Simulation of phase transition process using lattice Boltzmann method显示文摘A new lattice Boltzmann model based on SC model, is proposed to describe the liquid-vapor phase transitions. The new model is validated through the simulation of the one-component phase transition process. Compared with the simulation results of van der Waals gas and the Maxwell equal-area construction, the results of the new model have a better agreement with the analytical solutions than those of SC and Zhang models. Since the obtained temperature range and the maximum density ratio in this model are expanded, and the magnitude of maximum spurious current is only between those of SC and Zhang models, it is believed that this new model has better stability than SC and Zhang models. Consequently, the application scope of this new model is expanded compared with the existing phase transition models. According to the principle of the corresponding states in engineering thermodynamics, the simulations of ammonia and water phase transition process were implemented using this new model with different equations of state. Compared with the experimental data of ammonia and water, the results show that the Peng-Robinson is the best equation of state to describe the phase transition process of ammonia and water. Especially, the simulation results of ammonia with Peng-Robinson equation of state have an excellent agreement with its experimental data. | 5 | Histopathology and Ultrastructural Pathology of Cyprinid Herpesvirus Ⅱ(CyHV-2) Infection in Gibel Carp, Carassius auratus gibelio显示文摘Cyprinid herpesvirus II(Cy HV-2) infection is identified in cultured gibel carp, Carassius auratus gibelio, with high mortality in China in recent years. Histological pathology includes acute hepatocellular necrosis, splenic necrosis, kidney necrosis, hyperplasia of the secondary lamellae with focal necrosis. Acute necrotic myocarditis and granulocytes are prominent within the cardiac lumen in infected fish. In addition, necrosis is observed in the submucosa and mucosa epithelium of intestinal tract. Edemas are observed in renal glomerulus, submucosa and mucosa epithelium of intestinal tract, myocardial cells and neurons. Transmission electron microscopy indicates the cytoplasmic inclusions in splenocytes, glomerulus cells and hematopoietic tissue cells of kidney, epithelial cells of gills and brain cells. | 6 | Estimation of Sunflower Seed Yield Using Partial Least Squares Regression and Artificial Neural Network Models显示文摘Statistical models can efficiently establish the relationships between crop growth and environmental conditions while explicitly quantifying uncertainties. This study aimed to test the efficiency of statistical models established using partial least squares regression(PLSR) and artificial neural network(ANN) in predicting seed yields of sunflower(Helianthus annuus). Two-year field trial data on sunflower growth under different salinity levels and nitrogen(N) application rates in the Yichang Experimental Station in Hetao Irrigation District, Inner Mongolia, China, were used to calibrate and validate the statistical models. The variable importance in projection score was calculated in order to select the sensitive crop indices for seed yield prediction. We found that when the most sensitive indices were used as inputs for seed yield estimation, the PLSR could attain a comparable accuracy(root mean square error(RMSE) = 0.93 t ha-1, coefficient of determination(R^2) = 0.69) to that when using all measured indices(RMSE = 0.81 t ha-1,R^2= 0.77). The ANN model outperformed the PLSR for yield prediction with different combinations of inputs of both microplots and field data. The results indicated that sunflower seed yield could be reasonably estimated by using a small number of crop characteristic indices under complex environmental conditions and management options(e.g., saline soils and N application). | 7 | Sensitivity analysis of the SWAP(Soil-Water-Atmosphere-Plant)model under different nitrogen applications and root distributions in saline soils显示文摘Sensitivity analysis is important for determining the parameters in the model calibration process.In our study,a variance-based global sensitivity analysis(extended Fourier amplitude sensitivity test,EFAST)was applied to an agro-hydrological model(the SWAP(Soil-Water-Atmosphere-Plant model)model).The sensitivities of 20 parameters belonging to 4 categories(soil hydraulics,solute transport,root water uptake,and environmental stresses)for the simulated accumulated transpiration,dry matter(DM),and yield of sunflowers were analyzed under three nitrogen application rates(N1,N2,and N3),four salinity levels(S1,S2,S3,and S4),and three root distributions(R1,R2,and R3).The results indicated that for predominantly loamy soils,the high-impact parameters for accumulated transpiration,DM,and yield were the soil hydraulic parameters(αand n),critical stress index for compensatory root water uptake(ωc),the salt level at which salt stress starts(Pi),the decline of root water uptake above Pi(SSF),residual water content(θr),saturated water content(θs),and relative uptake of solutes by roots(TSCF).We also found that nitrogen application did not change the order of the parameter impacts on accumulated transpiration,DM,and yield.However,TSCF replacedαas the highest-impact parameter for the accumulated transpiration,DM,and yield at high salinity levels(S2 and S3).Furthermore,αwas also the highest-impact parameter for DM and yield under different root distributions,but the highest-impact parameters for transpiration wereωc,α,andθs under R1,R2,and R3,respectively.Nitrogen application could be neglected when considering the interactive effects of nitrogen application,salinity level,and root distribution on the transpiration,DM,and yield.Additionally,the mean values and uncertainties of the transpiration,DM,and yield were similar in all scenarios,except S3,which showed a sharp decrease in the mean values.We suggest determining the above eight parameters(α,n,ωc,Pi,SSF,θr,θs,and TSCF)and the saturated vertical hydraulic conductivity(Ks)based on rigorous calibrations with direct or indirect local measurements using economical methods(e.g.,a literature review),with limited observations for other parameters when using the SWAP model and other similar agro-hydrological models. | Guoqing LEI Wenzhi ZENG Yonghua JIANG Chang AO Jingwei WU Jiesheng HUANG | 2021 | Pedosphere2021,31,5: | 4 |
| 8 | Effects of trips on the oscillatory flow of an axisymmetric hypersonic inlet with downstream throttle显示文摘Experimental investigations are conducted on an axisymmetric hypersonic inlet to evaluate the effects of trips on oscillatory flows. The model exit is throttled with a fixed block to generate oscillatory flows at a freestream Mach number of 6 in a conventional wind tunnel and a shock tunnel. Schlieren imaging and pressure measurements are adopted to record unsteady flow features.Results indicate that trips with a 1 mm thickness prominently suppress external separations, shorten oscillatory cycles, and modify pressure magnitudes. Trips can reduce the upstream movement ranges of separated shocks from nose regions to locations axially 142 mm downstream. The oscillatory cycles are shortened from 3.75 ms to 3.25 ms and from 4 ms to 3.13 ms in two facilities.Tripped cases generally exhibit higher pressure magnitudes than those of untripped cases, of which the increment is up to 21 times the freestream static pressure for the farthest downstream transducer in the shock tunnel. The effects of trips are related to the streamwise vortexes in wake flows, in which interactions between external separations modify the separated flow patterns and enhance the sustainment of the forebody boundary layers to backpressure. | 9 | Two Ultraviolet Radiation Datasets that Cover China显示文摘Ultraviolet(UV) radiation has significant effects on ecosystems, environments, and human health, as well as atmospheric processes and climate change. Two ultraviolet radiation datasets are described in this paper. One contains hourly observations of UV radiation measured at 40 Chinese Ecosystem Research Network stations from 2005 to 2015. CUV3 broadband radiometers were used to observe the UV radiation, with an accuracy of 5%, which meets the World Meteorology Organization's measurement standards. The extremum method was used to control the quality of the measured datasets. The other dataset contains daily cumulative UV radiation estimates that were calculated using an all-sky estimation model combined with a hybrid model. The reconstructed daily UV radiation data span from 1961 to 2014. The mean absolute bias error and root-mean-square error are smaller than 30% at most stations, and most of the mean bias error values are negative, which indicates underestimation of the UV radiation intensity. These datasets can improve our basic knowledge of the spatial and temporal variations in UV radiation. | 10 | Application and verification of simultaneous determination of cellulose δ^(13)C and δ^(18)O in Picea shrenkiana tree rings from northwestern China using the high-temperature pyrolysis method显示文摘Stable isotopes in tree-ring cellulose provide important data in ecological,archaeological,and paleoenvironmental researches,thereby,the demand for stable isotope analyses is increasing rapidly.Simultaneous measurement of cellulose δ^(13)C and δ^(18)O values from tree rings would reduce the cost of isotopic commodities and improve the analytical efficiency compared with conventional separate measurement.In this study,we compared the δ^(13)C and δ^(18)O values of tree-ringα-cellulose from Tianshan spruce(Picea schrenkiana)in an arid site in the drainage basin of the Urumqi River in Xinjiang of northwestern China based on separate and simultaneous measurements,using the combustion method(at1050°C)and the high-temperature pyrolysis method(at 1350°C and 1400°C).We verified the results of simultaneous measurement using the outputs from separate measurement and found that both methods(separate and simultaneous)produced similar δ^(13)C values.The two-point calibrated method improved the results(range and variation)of δ^(13)C and δ^(18)O values.The mean values,standard deviations,and trends of the tree-ring δ^(13)C obtained by the combustion method were similar to those by the pyrolysis method followed by two-point calibration.The simultaneously measured δ^(18)O from the pyrolysis method at 1400°C had a nearly constant offset with that the pyrolysis method at 1350°C due to isotopic-dependence on the reaction temperature.However,they showed similar variations in the time series.The climate responses inferred from simultaneously and separately measured δ^(13)C and δ^(18)O did not differ between the two methods.The tree-ring δ^(13)C and δ^(18)O values were negatively correlated with standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index from May to August.In addition,the δ^(18)O was significantly correlated with temperature(positive),precipitation(negative),and relative humidity(negative)from May to August.The tree-ring δ^(13)C and δ^(18)O values determined simultaneously through the high-temperature pyrolysis method could produce acceptable and reliable stable isotope series.The simultaneous isotopic measurement can greatly reduce the cost and time requirement compared with the separate isotopic measurement.These results are consistent with the previous studies at humid sites,suggesting that the simultaneous determination of δ^(13)C and δ^(18)O in tree-ringα-cellulose can be used in wide regions. | XU Guobao LIU Xiaohong SUN Weizhen CHEN Tuo ZHANG Xuanwen ZENG Xiaomin WU Guoju WANG Wenzhi QIN Dahe | 2018 | Journal of Arid Land2018,10,6: | 1 |

| 13 | Cotton flooding and drought analysis regarding growth stages in Hubei,China,using a daily agrometeorological index显示文摘Cotton yield is restricted worldwide by flooding and drought that occur across various growth stages.In this study,cotton flooding and drought in Hubei(a major cotton-production province in China)from 1961 to 2019 were analyzed regarding growth stages through a daily index named the standardized antecedent precipitation evapotranspiration index(SAPEI).In addition,the impacts of flooding and drought on cotton climatic yield were quantified using multiple regression models.The results showed that the temporal trends of cotton flooding and drought intensities were generally smooth,except for an obvious downward trend for cotton drought intensity at the flowering and boll-forming stage.Additionally,cotton drought intensity varied more drastically than that of flooding over the years.Cotton-flooding proneness was much greater than cotton-drought proneness at all growth stages,and the most flooding-prone and drought-prone periods were identified as the flowering and boll-forming stage and the budding stage,respectively.In terms of spatial distribution,northeastern Hubei and southwestern Hubei were most prone to flooding and drought,respectively.The SAPEI-based regression model(R2=0.490,p<0.001),obviously outperforming the SPEI-based model(R2=0.278,p<0.05),revealed that both cotton flooding and drought exhibited negatively significant effects on cotton climatic yield and that the yield-reducing effect of cotton flooding was much greater than that of drought.Moreover,when growth stages were further considered using regression analysis,only the flowering and boll-forming stage was detected with a significant yield-reducing effect of cotton flooding.In conclusion,the SAPEI can effectively assist in monitoring cotton flooding and drought;cotton flooding,especially during the flowering and boll-forming stage and that occurring in northeastern Hubei,is the key issue for cotton field water management in Hubei. | Long Qian Cheng Chen Xiaohong Chen Wenzhi Zeng Yawen Gao Kenan Deng | 2023 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2023,16,4: | 0 |
| 14 | Organic matter transformation ratio, hydrocarbon expulsion efficiency and shale oil enrichment type in Chang 7_(3) shale of Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation in Ordos Basin, NW China显示文摘The major enrichment type of shale oil in the Chang 7_(3) shale of Upper Triassic Yanchang Formation in the Ordos Basin is unknown.This paper analyzes the organic matter transformation ratio,hydrocarbon expulsion efficiency and roof/floor sealing conditions of the Chang 7_(3) shale,and evaluates the major enrichment type of shale oil in this interval.The average organic matter transformation ratio of the Chang 7_(3) shale is about 45%;in other words,more than 50%of the organic matters have not transformed to hydrocarbons,and the lower the maturity,the greater the proportion of untransformed organic matters.The cumulative hydrocarbon expulsion efficiency of the transformed hydrocarbon is 27.5% on average,and the total proportion of untransformed organic matters plus retained hydrocarbons is greater than 70%.The relative hydrocarbon expulsion efficiency of the Chang 7_(3) shale is 60%on average,that is,about 40% of hydrocarbons retain in the shale.The Chang 7_(3) shale corresponds to Chang 7_(1+2) and Chang 8 sandstones as the roof and floor,respectively,and is further overlaid by Chang 6 shale,where extensive low porosity and low permeability–tight oil reservoirs have formed in the parts with relatively good porosity and permeability.Moreover,the Chang 7_(3) shale is tested to be in a negative pressure system(the pressure coefficient of 0.80–0.85).Therefore,the roof/floor sealing conditions of the Chang 7_(3) shale are poor.The retained hydrocarbons appear mostly in absorbed status,with low mobility.It is concluded that the medium–high mature shale oil is not the major enrichment type of shale oil in the Chang 7_(3) shale,but there may be enrichment opportunity for shale oil with good mobility in the areas where the sealing conditions are good without faults and fractures and oil reservoirs are formed off Chang 7_(1+2),Chang 6 and Chang 8.Furthermore,low–medium mature shale oil is believed to have great potential and is the major enrichment type of shale oil in the Chang 7_(3) shale.It is recommended to prepare relevant in-situ conversion technologies by pilot test and figure out the resource availability and distribution. | ZHAO Wenzhi BIAN Congsheng LI Yongxin LIU Wei DONG Jin WANG Kun ZENG Xu | 2023 | Petroleum Exploration and Development2023,50,1: | 0 |
| 15 | Mapping the fishing intensity in the coastal waters off Guangdong province, China through AIS data显示文摘Fishing activities result in a depletion of fish resources and an increase in bycatch probability of non-target species,which are thought to be the cause of the recent demographic change experienced by coastal cetaceans in waters off Guangdong province,China.However,fishing intensity and its spatiotemporal pattern remain poorly examined in this region.Here,random daily tracks from 100 fishing vessels were used to estimate fishing operations in the coastal waters off Guangdong province.The performance of two methods was tested with Automatic Identification System(AIS)data collected in the Pearl River Delta region(PRD).This assessment found that the Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise(DBSCAN)could falsely identify port regions as fishing grounds,while the speed-based method provided a more accurate estimate of fishing grounds with less computational effort.Subsequently,the spatiotemporal pattern of fishing intensity in the coastal waters off the entire Guangdong province was examined with the speed-based method.Our results showed that 87.75%of the coastal fishing activities occurred in waters<40 m in depth.The method detected two spatially heterogeneous fishing grounds extending from the PRD to either the west or east sides of Guangdong province.In the west fishing ground,43.4%of fishing vessels operated in the waters off Yangjiang city;while in the east fishing ground,fishing activities were more evenly distributed.The present study suggests that the AIS is able to provide high-resolution data to monitor the development of fishing activities,which may be useful for informing marine resource management and spatial planning. | Shenglan Chen Wenzhi Lin Chen Zeng Binshuai Liu Agathe Serres Songhai Li | 2023 | Water Biology and Security2023,2,1: | 0 |
| 16 | Structural features and exploration targets of platform margins in Sinian Dengying Formation in Deyang-Anyue Rift, Sichuan Basin, SW China显示文摘Based on the seismic, logging, drilling and other data, the distribution, structural types and mound-shoal hydrocarbon accumulation characteristics of platform margins of the Sinian Dengying Formation in the Deyang-Anyue Rift and its periphery were analyzed. Four types of platform margins are developed in the Dengying Formation, i.e., single-stage fault-controlled platform margin, multi-stage fault-controlled platform margin, gentle slope platform margin, and overlapping platform margin. In the Gaoshiti West-Weiyuan East area, single-stage fault controlled platform margins are developed in the Deng 2 Member, which trend in nearly NEE direction and are shielded by faults and mudstones, forming fault-controlled–lithologic traps. In the Lezhi-Penglai area, independent and multi-stage fault controlled platform margins are developed in the Deng 2 Member, which trend in NE direction and are controlled by synsedimentary faults;the mound-shoal complexes are aggraded and built on the hanging walls of the faults, and they are shielded by tight intertidal belts and the Lower Cambrian source rocks in multiple directions, forming fault-controlled–lithologic and other composite traps. In the Weiyuan-Ziyang area, gentle slope platform margins are developed in the Deng 2 Member, which trend in NW direction;the mound-shoal complexes are mostly thin interbeds as continuous bands and shielded by tight intertidal belts in the updip direction, forming lithologic traps. In the Gaoshiti-Moxi-Yanting area, overlapping platform margins are developed in the Deng 2 and Deng 4 members;the mound-shoal complexes are aggraded and overlaid to create platform margin buildup with a huge thickness and sealed by tight intertidal belts and the Lower Cambrian mudstones in the updip direction, forming large-scale lithologic traps on the north slope of the Central Sichuan Paleouplift.
